oml people STOPPPPP can u just SHUT UP and watch the video? like good job on ruining the vibe. Turkey is not just asian or european IT IS BOTH. Turkey is the bridge between asia and europe and that is a fact. Additionally, even when our empire is over our people still live in the same place when our empire was in rule. Turkey is multicultural and that is also a fact. North, South East, West and Central turks are all unique in their own way, they're not the same this is due to MULTICULTURALISM. Do i have to bring my grandpa on here to lecture you all? smh

Can someone, please, tell me where in the credits I said this is a Turkish dance? It's a video taken during the annual Turkish festival in Chicago called "Chicago Goes Turkish". I am Bulgarian American and during the festival the dance group performed Bulgarian folk dance too. Russians was performing this dances for decades. Is it prohibited to be danced by anyone but Georgians? If anybody around the world dances salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, bachata that doesn't make them Latinos. Or no one but the Spaniards can dance flamenco? We all know how many nations were under Ottoman Empire and for how long (Bulgaria - 5 centuries). In Turkey today there is so many ethnicity's traditions, folklore, food, fashion, music... So stop fighting over stupid arguments! Can you just enjoy the beautiful dance?

@@mehmeteking Thank you! Nationalism is a tendency observed all around the world. It is very common on the Balkans too where neighbors fight about folklore, food, music... origination. I was more surprised by the severe reaction of the Georgians who feel offended by the fact that Turks are performing Georgian dance.

But Azerbaijani Turks in Northern İran are Turks by etnicity culture and language. There are 25M Azerbaijani Turks in İran. And let me add something, if your father is Azerbaijani it is impossible for him to not understand Turkish dont talk from your ass. Probably your father is Azeri(not Azerbaijani) and not Turk. Though I can understand why the Georgians think it is theirs. When people only know their country, they think everything they may be doing
belongs to them. Call it provincial ignorance. Actually like in any other place, people living in the same region share many things. It is normal that similar dances are danced in various countries in the region. But claiming it Georgian only is comical.

Caucasian YES. Georgian YES. Turkic YES. You can even name and add other peoples of the region YES. Roots are mixed. Thousand of years of human traffic, empires including many civilizations, cultures, and peoples in this geographic area, The Caucasus. My Grand Mother was Georgian, my Grand Father's ancestors were Oghuz, coming from Asia to Anatolia in 1071. They call me Turkish, I am born in Istanbul, speaking turkish and some other languages, I don't speak Georgian, I don't claim I am Georgian however I know in my Blood there are cells from Oghuz Turk, Georgian, Greek, I am proud with all of them, I see my self a Human and World Citizen, I love the Life and the World, Humanity, Humans, The Nature, The education and respectful people. Dance whatever you like. Sing whatever you like. Thank their creators and create your ones if you can. Georgians should be happy that the dance, rythm and steps they claim are theirs were presented in USA by Turks. I agree that I was a little surprised with their costumes etc., I also agree they could dance better, I agree they should name the performence Caucasian dances from Turkey. This is the same story with the Cuisine. One says some of the specialities are Armenian, some others say no they are greek, some others say no they are lebanese or jewish or Hungarian or or... All of them is true because Ottoman Empire ruled all those named regions for centuries, the best cooks of them were coming to Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, they were bringing their recipes, mix them with others in order to create new tastes. So better to stop racist and patriotic approach in 21st Century you should all enjoy it, and if you are obliged to say the origins you can better say, "Mediterranean", "Ottoman", "Levant", "East Mediterranean" without forgetting of course Hungarians (Huns) have asian roots and all men and women of the above mentiones peoples coupled in the past 2000 years, many million times, so what are we talking about, let's get together, dance-eat-sing together and exchange our values for a Better World. All the Best.

Arkadaşların emeklerini alkışlıyorum. Well done guys👍. You forget that Cuman/Kipchak Turks were an integral part of Georgia for centuries. They made up the military elite and fought many battles in the best interest of the Georgian people. All Turkish/Turkic traces were wiped out of Georgia just recently (by Stalin) so well in a way this dance is as Turkish as it is Georgian. People that lived side by side for centuries surely had a CUTLTURAL EXCHANGE and that is the correct term. For those Turks this is THEIR culture. Yeah we know this dance from Caucasia.. But we have been in the Caucasus for 1500-2,500 years. It is very normal that this dance is our culture. B'cuz Caucasus is a region and we live there many years.
    -
All Turkic people not own this dance. Just Caucasian Turkic peoples own this dance. (Sorry abaout my English. I am new learning English)

i am Turkish. This dance come from yhe middle asia . Because Turks came from asia to east of europe. And then to anatolia . So we have a mutlticultural dance , music ... You can see eouropean and asian figurs on the Turkish tradiational dance .This dance is true for Turkey . But not only this. We have 7 geographic region. And each region has diffrent figures and melodies . For example Balkans (Marmara ) , Blacksea reigon, Mediteranean Re,gon , aegean reigon , Eastern anatolia reigon , Central Anatolia reigon and Southeastern Anatolia reigon . And Turkey includes Armenian , Greek , Circassian ... They re minority .In short it just doesn't represent . But you're right. This dance is ours
