      And for that, I respect him. I get players gotta play hard, but when you se the Matt Cookes of the world do their thing, you have to ask why they're taking a game that far.

    Can't forget that in the 2006 Playoffs, he posted what turned out to be the second longest shutout streak in NHL History at 249:15, 32 minutes longer than Giguere's streak from 2003!

    Bryz was awesome as a player and he still is awesome as a person.
    He might have been a bit weird or too open, but he still was a damn good goalie.
    And a great coyote. Thanks bryz.

    Managed to get 3 wins in the '07 cup run. Actually earned his Cup unlike a lot of backups. A Russian complaining about the cold is hilarious.

    It's funny how often I hear, "Why you heff to be mad?" quoted online by random people. It made its way into pop culture and it was a dig at my team lol.

    Bryzgalov was there when NHL reporters needed an off the wall comment that nobody else would say. He didn't do a lot to dispel the trope that goalies are a bit crazy.

      @@SethFinberg I personally think that the players blocking all those shots without goalie pads are the crazy ones. More so with the extra shot power coming off those composite sticks.

    I don't know if any of this is still true, but for a while after retirement he still resided in the Philly area and would attend Flyers games in regular lower bowl seats. Very nice guy from all accounts.

    Seeing him running that shutout streak in 2006 playoffs that was the moment I started to cheer for the Ducks (Mighty ones at that time). And I was pretty happy with how things went the next season. Now, 17 years after, I'm still a Ducks fan 🦆

    It's interesting how signing from FA or trading for a goalie and then giving them a long contact always seems to end up poorly. There might be a few exceptions but it's rare that a goalie keeps up their high performance for a whole contract unless they are exceptional like Kiprusoff

    as a ducks fan i have to say i was SHOCKED at him being waived...but it always good to see him doing so well ...i believe he also has one of the longest shutout streaks in the playoffs? or at least did when it happened? anyway...great video as always! :)

    The main problem with the Bryz situation I had as a Flyers fan (besides it mostly being a disaster) is we already had Bobrovsky. Sure he was unproven at the time but almost all of us wanted to give him a chance. We all know how it turned out when we shipped him out 😢

      I like to sometimes imagine a world where we have the top 6 we had in '14-'19 with Bob as our main backstop instead of Leighton/Mason/Emery and eventually Hart. Could you imagine Hart being our backup to Bob during those later years? The hardware we could have had man.

    I just remember when he spent a little time with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and would take the team out and say dinner is on the Flyers.

    If I remember Burke promised Bryz a starting job, then with Teemu and Scotty indecisiveness made it hard for Burke to do anything about it and waived him so Bryz could be a starter on another team.

    You're pronouncing it right Shannon! It's BryzgAlov, not BrYzgalov, the stress falls on A. But you didn't mention that in 11-12 Flyers had Bryzgalov and Bobrovsky, and they traded Bobrovsky and kept Bryzgalov. I guess it still drives Flyers fans mad.

    I'm sure if every player was really being honest, there would be a lot of angry fans. I guarantee a lot of players, especially American-born players, would rather play in their home country, and not just because it's their home country. Lower taxes, potentially better weather, and a better chance to win.

    Man that buyout is insane. The fact he gets paid 20 million over 12 years is crazy. That is so fuckin lucky. Then made another 4 million being a backup. Unbelievable
