Yes , we need permit and sponsorship to travel to 7 states , they have been classified as tribal areas and no mainland persons can travel , purchase land or do buisness on his own citing tribal civilization protection.
Naga in current languages(hindi,tamil,telugu etc) is snake another word for snake is sarp which later became serpant in English While in old times(yugs before kali yug) naga denoted a different humanoid specie which praveen mohom talked about in trs podcast. so in old days naga would be humanoid while sarp would be snake🐍 As for naga people from Nagaland,they consider/discribe themselves as descendents of nagas(advance humanoid specie)

Anyone planing to visit nagaland for hornbill festival, well I'll have to disappoint you but i recommend to stripe it off from the bucket list!! Its not worth a penny
Permit is required, it is special category zone, its done to protect the culture and also the flora fauna
