That Vagus nerve massage is so fascinating. I often massage/hold my chest just there, when anxious/"heartsick".
    It just feels right.
I will add the breathing and self soothing talk

It's so true. I worked in an office setting for over 20 years. The longer I worked there my anxiety grew, and by the end I was in tears every day. Now, I'm emotional to my core, but to cry EVERY DAY was crazy! I switched to a production job and haven't been happier than I've ever been in my adult life.

Even though I absolutely believe in the let them theory, it still drives me crazy to think someone can act one way with me and be completely different with someone else. For example, I was just ghosted by a guy who I was exclusively dating for 2 months. We were both exclusively dating each other. And it bothers me to think he’ll be absolutely amazing to another girl, but I had to get the short end of the stick.

@pilimtorro677 What makes you think he will be Amazing to someone else? Ghosting is a pretty awful thing to do to anyone ( sounds like you have put him on a pedestal he really doesn’t deserve) , the chances are he will do it to the next girl . ❤ NO person that behaves that way , is EVER that great .

He's being Great, only in your opinion and imagination
Great is an experience that needs to be enacted from start to finish
      Anything else is flawed

    Dear Mel
This is a BEAUTIFUL episode !
    - YOUR SKILLS are mind-blowing . thank you with all my heart.
Right now I am facing one of the loneliest & financially scary times of my life ! Each time my anxiety feels as if I am going to run screaming down the road I say to myself : « Let them followed by : I NEED A DOSE of Mel »
Then I go find you online and you never fail to help me get a grip …….A big Virtual hug to you - With Gratitude Maureen❤

    Always enjoy your discussions!
I will say though that the very end, where Mel encourages you (and by extension the listener) to sit in the kids vs child free decision by thinking about dying/end of life moments, was something rather limiting and disheartening to hear.
Having kids is wonderful for those who genuinely want them, but to make that choice based on deathbed regrets when there’s no guarantee a child will be there at the final moment (even if both parties want them to be!) took me out of the podcast.
Always looking forward to the next episode though! ❤️

I have seen repeatedly first-hand the desolation of natural disaster, terminal illness, and palliative care with no partner, siblings or adult children to come around in support.
It's not wrong to give yourself, and people you love, the best chance of a supportive community.
YES supportive community can come from friends etc.
NB: I DID say Best Chance, not Only

I would share this good stuff with my daughter if there wasn't so much profanity. Seriously when did that become normal?

Dude. Amazing talk. Really. Loved it. But the child talk is absurd, sorry. There are SO MANY reasons for someone to NOT have children. The end-of-life thing??? This is disrespectful. LET THEM CHOOSE, for god's sake.
