Elvis directed all the the musicians, singers & songs. He controlled everything! It was his show & his fans. He would always gave them his very best, always!!❤
This is the rehearsal concert. The actual broadcast concert performance of this song is my absolute favourite. I recommend you check that one out. RIP Elvis, the greatest ever
The correct title is "American Trilogy." It was a charity concert for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. Patrons were told to pay whatever they wanted; Elvis purchased his own ticked for $1,000. It was supposed to raise $25,000 & it raised $75,000. Trilogy is a medley of three uniquely American pieces: “Dixie,” (dixie are the states down south in the U.S.); “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War; and “All My Trials,” a Bahamian (people of the Bahamas) lullaby related to African American spirituals sung by protesting folksingers of the 1950s. This was from the rehearsal version. It was done in order to work out any technical glitches that might crop up. Then came the live version which was broadcast.
The actual title of this song is An American Trilogy. It's three songs put together. He really puts his all into it! Elvis was like a stage manager. A look, an arm motion, a head nod, all directions to someone. The drummer, Ronnie Tutt got the gig by watching Elvis like a hawk. He got to where he could intuit what Elvis was going to do. Elvis really liked that, no matter what, Ronnie would do it right. So, you might want to change the title of this reaction to An American Trilogy, it's not just Glory, Glory Hallelujah.
first satellite concert beamed all over the world watched by over a billion people, listen to what now my love from the same concert and bridge over troubled water live in Vegas 1970.
He was a perfectionist! And that was because he loved his fans and wanted to give them the best!! And yes he controlled the band!! This is why he is TNE BEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME!!
It's great that you want to watch it again but definitely check out the actual satellite broadcast from the next night or whenever it was. This was the rehearsal and I do absolutely love this version as well. This was such a good chemistry between him and his band and everything about all of that and the audience and just the historical nature of it actually, the racial tension all that stuff, I love it so much. But definitely check out the other version as well, so you get to see a few different looks here and there and you can see that this isn't exactly regimented. Elvis has always been one to mix it up all the time and be unpredictable. That's why he had to have really good musicians around him that really got it and could react instantaneously and just pay really close attention to him.
Elvis sang a lot of gospel music. The boys he asked to sing a the beginning are J D Sumner and the Stamps quaret. They sang backup for several years for Elvis and did their own concerts.
This song is actually called "An American Trilogy". Elvis did conduct his band. They had to keep their eyes on him at all times because he was unpredictable and could do something unexpected at any moment, but you are right, he was like a conductor on stage, he knew where all the instruments had to come in, and he would gesture to the band when those instruments should come in. Not that they didn't already know, but Elvis always made sure things went smoothly. In the beginning of his career, his band mates said that the screams from the fans were so loud they couldn't hear Elvis singing, so they had no idea where he was in the song at any given time. They said they had to watch his movements, and often kept an eye on his butt to know where he was in the song. They said they were the only band in the world to be conducted by an ass. 😂😂
This is the recorded rehearsal concert. They did one in case anything went wrong with the real show. Elvis and band improved several things between them. They put more songs in and Elvis got a better haircut. In this song he improved his movement cordination (the pulling the hand back, etc) and the flute player (who mad a small mistake here) nailed it in the "real concert".
Don't ever mess with EP.. Elvis was and is the King still to this day.. He grew up in the black community.. dirt poor.. his Daddy in jail .. for writing bad checks to put food on the table.. When Elvis started making all that money.. he was giving it away to everyone.. The church was everything to him. I just don't understand anyone that has bad words for Elvis.. He was an amazing presence on stage with a huge heart.. and not a racist bone even being born in the Deep South in 1935.. Deep South in 1935 , come on.. it was the mecca of racism. But not to Elvis.
*CHILL FACTOR🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ABOUT 2 HAPPEN❤UR N 4 A PERFORMANCE THAT ULL NEVR 4GET & REMEMBER BY THIS MAN❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤GOD'S GRACES B WITH U ELVIS N THE GREAT BYOND 🙏 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹
He absolutely conducted the incredibly talented bands that he had around him. They were bonded. And you can see examples of this really really early on, when he would surprise everybody even on national television by adding another slow section to the end of Hound on the Milton Berle variety show, for example. But then it worked out so well, it was amazing. The band covered, and the audience went totally nuts.
Even today, a worldwide satellite show with just a single performer would be unthinkable. We hade Live Aid in the mid 80's. But it was 2 major stages (Wembley and JFK in Philadephia) , and included just about anybody that could be considered a major artist back then. Internet and new technique has actually shrunk those possibilities. No matter technical landslides though, one single artist doing a show for the world will most likely only ever happen once, and it was over 50 years ago.
You can tell in If i Can Dream live vid how he keeps time like you said as a conductor swinging his arm to the band more than his vocals You can tell he feels every beat He was special
Goosebumps on top of goosebumps!! In an interview with Estelle Brown, one of the singers from the Sweet Inspirations (back up singers) said they had to watch his every move so they new what to do. Lol ❤
This is the rehearsal version of Trilogy. The real live version is even better, he is technically perfect and the band and orchestra, backing singers do not miss a beat. And yes, Elvis was famous for conducting his band with his movements. You see it in every rehearsal and performance.
This was the rehearsal for the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. Of course even though a rehearsal audience packed. Yes, he almost always conducted the band and orchestra. Absolutely amazing to watch.
The best version is actually the real night it was filmed. This is just a rehearsal. Aloha from Hawaii the night they recorded the satellite it was better. Yes the musicians ALWAYS watched Elvis. That was how he did it. Made him unique
The song is called ” American Trilogy”, and is really 3 songs into one . Please react to the actual performance, it is better , this was the rehearsal. And yes,Elvis conducted hus orchestra With his body. They usel to say that they were the only ones being conducted by an ” ass”😂

Check out Trying to Get To You from the 68 comeback special. It’s a very raw performance by the great Elvis Presley!
Please react to Elvis singing How Great Thou Art live in 1972. He loved gospels, sang them after the concerts along with his backup singers
This was a charity performance for the cancer hospital in Hawaii. It was the first worldwide satellite broadcast and watched by millions
Please check Sandro de America April 1970 / Madison Square Garden
Watch by 1.5 + BILLIONS of people.. not Millions 😊
@@iblogthereforeiam4267 Not at the same time...

You are absolutely right about today's music, so more ELVIS please. Thank you ❤❤❤
This makes me cry every time. The emotion he puts into this is incredible. Love love love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You need to react to his version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water"and "My Way"
Yes the guys in his band often said that they would carefully watch him and take their cues from his movements
I wish we could feel this patriotism for our country today like it was back then. So much has changed. This is beautiful. ❤
If other artist made movements to conduct the band, Elvis did it by many years before
Elvis was into the martial arts that's where most of the moves came from
Elvis sang a lot of gospel music. The boys he asked to sing a the beginning are J D Sumner and the Stamps quaret. They sang backup for several years for Elvis and did their own concerts.
This is the thing with Elvis he has such a variety of singing, Dancing. And looks. From the 50s, 60, 70,
This song is actually called "An American Trilogy".

YES
This is actually American Trilogy in which he does 3 different songs here. Powerful.

It doesn't get any better than this. PERIOD. ❤❤❤❤

Elvis never saw color. Everyone was a friend to him.
It was just the one cheque he forged.
@Barb-m5w he did see colour, and he stood with Black people and Black artists. He knew he was in a good position to pull them UP the ladder.
Thats last part 😂😂😂
The best ever ever ❤
Thank god for this men

Great performance!!!!!!
You should listen to him singing this on stage in Honolulu Hawaii in 1973. It is the best concert.
This is the rehearsal version of Trilogy. The real live version is even better, he is technically perfect and the band and orchestra, backing singers do not miss a beat.
