    I own both reels and I primarily buy shimano and diawa so I'd consider myself non bias towards both. I've been happy with both reels but let's look at how to really compare them. I understand it would be hard to do a comparison on which is better on video for their intended purposes, which is I believe is pitching. I dont think people buy these with the intent of bombing lures, if so they would buy a deeper spool reel. Now from my experience with both pitching at laydowns, docks, etc... both perform extremely similar with 1/2oz or more. The sv handles 3/8oz or lighter better for pitching though. So if your looking for a reel for worms, senkos, light jigs I would definitely go with the sv. Punching mats with 1/2oz or more both would work great but if your confident in the reliability of a curado maybe go with the 70mgl. Im just stating my observations, I know haters are gonna hate but I truly really like both reels. I love the videos and appreciate the time you take to make them. I'm loving the Chinese bfs battles and reviews your doing and you have me super curious to try one.

    Looks like the lure weight was chosen to favor the Curado MGL, but you forgot about tip the SV TW about it. A technical draw in the Curado Niche, concerning it's centrifugal brakes, is a win for the Daiwa reel. I really can't understand why test two low-inertia spool reels, using heavy lures, over 8g...

    The curado was on the edge of backlash almost every cast, the diawa only once had some loose line while casting. I think you should tighten the breaks on both of them to just barely get no thumb casts and then do the comparison.

    I would like to see a curado match up still. I recently bought a scorpion 70 and I found that I prefer the older xt 1000/ curado 50e/ aldebaran mg 50. They cast and feel much smoother to me.

    Throws 40cm more, but the axis of the line guide is abs versus aluminum, fragile micro module, side housing in carbon versus aluminum .. I bought Tatula Elite Pitch and Flip, more controlled, more robust and throws practically the same.

    I prefer to lubricate the spool shaft for tatula with light oil 1 or 2 drops should be enough before put back the side plate then you can see the better result for tatula trust me. I always done that everytime after i removed and put back the spool. Try to lubricate for both reels then rematch. My expectation both reels should show better result. Happy trying & rematch ✌🙂

      the curado would overrun during the 1st half of the cast, then sort it self out. the "backlashes" at the end of the casts were due to me not realizing the plug hit the ground and stopping the spool with my thumb. The Curado spool is VERY tame... might be too tame in fact

    Both are great reels and I personally believe that with this small of a difference between the two it comes down to personal preference and budget as some may not simply be able to afford the curado and a great rod. In that case and without a doubt I would buy the tatula and dump the extra bones in the rod. Can't really go wrong with either and yes I have both and don't hesitate or worry about which one I grab at the time lol.

    Furthermore, for an accurate amount of data you would need 4 or 5 reels to get a better comparison. I would also say using different power rods and maybe different people. I appreciate the time you take but maybe you should get a better control group to get results that are more à-propos.

    I moved away from Shimano to Daiwa because they started making smaller capacity spools trying to cut weight. I have older Shimanos with higher capacity The only 2 bass reels that can hold over 100yds of 14 lb mono are the Curado and Trax in the USDM reels. I run 20 lb P-Line CXX on 95% of my reels and those low capacity spools will bottom out on a cast with a walking topwater like a spook. I will not use braid to leader. That's a trophy bass that has a greater opportunity to break you off. Not knocking Shimano. Them and Daiwa are the
    best made IMO for what it's worth. I've been bass fishing over 50 years now and it's my favorite pastime. I go almost daily.

      @@ddm62571 because I fish heavy timber for big Texas bass. How many DDs have you caught? I've taken guys out in my boat that said the same thing and had their little hearts broken on the biggest bass they've ever hung and lost. I've been broke off with 20. Matt from TacticalBassin told me he's had 30 lb P-Line broke off that sounded like a shotgun. You can pull a truck with that line. I throw right in thickest cover I can find. I guess probably 95%of the bass pros use 20 lb floro or co-poly and 65 to 80lb braid. I guess those guys have no clue what they're doing.

    • @THEREELTEST
      @THEREELTEST  4 роки тому

      Good points. So lets say you made an optimistic 70 yard cast with a big spook... will even a DD bass make a 30 yard run pulling drag? I can see a striper or a carp doing it, but a LM?

    • @jamesbarron1202
      @jamesbarron1202 4 роки тому +1

      @@THEREELTEST 70+30=100 which isn't even what's on the spool when your running 20 lb co-poly. I said most don't even carry 100 yds of 14. It hits the end of the spool on cast which is a pain especially if your chasing schooling bass with a big bait like a spook and they're busting out of range. If you've ever chased schoolies they can pop up anywhere because they're running the shad. It's not the drag their pulling. It's the bottoming on the cast that I don't like. I use my lower capicity reels for jerkbaits, spybaits and 1.0 and 1.5 squarebills which really need lighter line to work properly and cast well. 20 lb line comes in handy bank fishing also if your fishing brush. Sometimes it'll save you a lost lure by straightening the hooks or breaking sticks.

      Possible, bearings should always be cleaned and lubed, you don't get bedt out of your reel if you don't do it
