I might be inclined to agree with you about Sanders snub except for the fact that when Nebraska beat them last week Sanders had already left at the two minute warning, leaving his team on the field and lacking any sort of class by not shaking hands with the victors who never said anything bad about Colorado. The Colorado State kid went up to Sanders to eat the crow he deserved showing how a sportsman that has been bested is supposed to act. I completely agree, Josh. I almost never criticize officiating or claim it might have cost a team the game but it was awful in that game. I feel bad for Sellers too. Great point about UGA with a sluggish road performance as a heavy favorite the last two seasons against Auburn and Missouri. Teams aren’t going to play their best each week. Have to get healthy soon with Mykel Williams, Brinson, Hall etc. because of depth issues on the DO though TID played well at times on Saturday.
Morwell Victoria, Australia here. I never miss an episode! Quick question, are the rumours that Pate State is talking to Nick Saban about coaching the freights? And also when do we get an Academy sports in Australia?
Definition of Targeting Targeting occurs when a player uses any part of their body, typically the helmet, to make forcible contact with an opponent's head or neck. This includes: Launching into an opponent with a hit to the head or neck area. Using the crown of the helmet (the top of the helmet) to strike an opponent. Forcibly hitting a defenseless player in the head or neck area, even with the shoulder, forearm, or hands. The key aspect of the targeting rule is protecting players from high-impact hits to the head or neck, which can cause concussions, spinal injuries, or other life-threatening conditions. Hot take but there will be two G5 conference champs that are actually better than some P4 conference champs Also UGA ripped a guys helmet off and didn’t get called
IMO the thing that gets confusing is that there are 2 parts of the targeting rule, and they really should be their own rule and penalty: 1. Targeting of a defenseless player (which is basically what you described) 2. Spearing, which is forcible contact using the crown of a players helmet with any part of another playable body, as long as they have one of the other indications of targeting (usually launching or hunching over.) I think it confuses people that if a player is defenseless than it doesn't matter what you hit them with, as long as you hit them in the head or neck. And if you hit a player with the crown of your helmet, it doesn't matter what part of the body you hit the other player on. For example, the Oregon play was originally called for targeting, but he made contact with the forehead and not the crown, and he didn't hit the QB in the head or neck, so the targeting it was overturned. But in the Florida play he made contact with the crown of his helmet, and hunched down before making contact, so it was targeting.
You should have seen what Pat Narduzzi said about officiating after his game Saturday. He's got a fine coming for sure, but he didn't get it half as bad as Kentucky did. Georgia is the luckiest team in the sport
I APPLAUD YOUR COMMENTARY ON THE OFFICIATING AND AS A GAMECOCK REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTARY ON US GETTING ROBBED BY THE REFS BECAUSE WE DID. THANK YOU
Neither of those penalties were bad calls. The mistake was your players screwing up. The guy who hit nuss even knew he screwed up he threw his hands up before the flag

Uga did exactly what i pictured vs Kentucky, just glad brock didnt go off on his former teammates. We didnt sleep walk we got man handled 🍻 go dawgs that was the first bump plenty to go
Josh, you mixed some valid calls with some referee blunders. At 56:45 you say "there's a flag"... nope, there were 3 flags from 3 refs close to the play. I watched that play 5-6 times... the LSU QB never saw it coming as it was from his blind side, and the SC defender new exactly who he was going after and he hit high. It was a deliberate hit on the QB. Blind side hits being flagged are not a novelty. That's the problem when you're meeting the mayor and high-fiving SC fans... it prevents you from being impartial. That was a good call... you wanna blame somebody for the nullification of the pick-six... blame the SC defender.
Never seen a worse call than the one on Nussmeier. He’s not a QB when he throws an interception. If you want to protect him from getting hit then you need to make a rule that he cannot pursue the player with the ball in the event of an interception or fumble recovery
As much as I know Josh wants to go to Norman. I think Utah v Ok State would've been the better play for the tour. Going to be a much more competitive game with top Big 12 contenders. I just get the feel Tennessee is going to blow out Oklahoma.
Hopefully this week's episodes you'll talk about the splattering Miami put on Ball State. Record offensive numbers, 750 total offensive yards. Plus, we have USF coming up and we see what they did with Bama.
I'm an OU fan. We missed pretty badly on a couple of transfer OL who play like they don't care a whole lot for playing football. Evaluating portal guys can be really, really tough.
I agree with the UGA take. Team leaders need to step up in off field issues. Depth gets strained when people miss games. I think UGA offense got popped in the mouth thinking they were going to run over Kentucky. For a coach like Kirby who looks for things to motivate his squad this is what he needed.
Great video as always. How do you not talk about Quinn ewers getting hurt and one of the biggest names in the sport who’s in a family of football royalty and had an unbelievable performance. Sure it was UTSA but feel like it deserved a mention
The hit on Nuss is a blind side block. If they were both facing the other way, it would have been fine. You haven't been allowed to block that way for years. It works the same as on kick returns. Idk why we have to explain this...

Yes. Officiating has been very questionable in the games I’ve watched so far. My team hasn’t lost a game because of a bad call, but there are a lot of MAJOR impact calls going both ways where I’m left scratching my head. -I’m really not sure how a player is supposed to cleanly hit any QB anymore. When a QB runs and a defender goes for a nice low tackle, but the QB starts a slide AFTER the defender has already committed, especially when the QB’s head falls to the level of the tacklers helmet. And so a safe, textbook, tackling approach results in a targeting ejection, or at least a “late hit”. -A pass rusher reaches out at the QB’s throwing arm trying to block a pass or strip-sack, but the defender’s arm gets deflected, and lightly brushes the side of the QB’s helmet, and that’s a personal foul roughing the passer. -A sideline tackle where contact is initiated when BOTH players are inbounds, and there’s no extra force other than the initial impact, and it’s 15 yards. -A tackle where the defender’s arm grabs the runner’s shoulder pad under the armpit area, spinning the runner down, and its called a “Horse-collar”. -As Pat Narduzzi (very appropriately) once lamented- “Unnecessary Roughness??? Football is 60 minutes of Unnecessary Roughness.”
Yeah those calls were so infuriating...as a former Defensive player and an all time Defensive minded fan...how is anyone supposed to hit anyone, ANYMORE?! The targeting on Florida (Dawgs fan here too) was the worst thing I have ever seen. And that was putting all these up against each other. While the game wasn't as close as the score indicated, as a Boston College fan, I'm glad to see them cause the Ramen Noodle Express lose money this week.
Well, your explanation on officiating doesn’t consider Arkansas vs OSU the week before. Gundy asked SEC officials about whether something was a penalty or not, was told it was good, and then was flagged for it. His ask for everyone to get into the same room and decide these things is needed.
I have been saying for decades now that officiating is one of the biggest problems in college football. Subjective calls like targeting and pass INT are being made by guys who do this part time. Holding can be called on every play, and now seemingly is. Something needs to be done.

Bama fan here, Garret Nussmeier is going to be a problem for sure. I like what I see a lot from him as a passer. He doesn’t miss throws.
Uhhhhh
😂😂😂
Loves him a pick 6 though
No mention of that wild UCF comeback?!
The music when he started talking about Napier 😂😂
While the game wasn't as close as the score indicated, as a Boston College fan, I'm glad to see them cause the Ramen Noodle Express lose money this week.
Braves game prevented me from being here live but almost my home town got called out anyways!!
#1 in the nation HOOK'EM 🤘🤘🤘
Well, your explanation on officiating doesn’t consider Arkansas vs OSU the week before. Gundy asked SEC officials about whether something was a penalty or not, was told it was good, and then was flagged for it. His ask for everyone to get into the same room and decide these things is needed.
Should have listened a few minutes longer. lol. Great job as always!
I hope I get to see you in Norman Saturday
R.I.P. sunbelt Billy!
I have been saying for decades now that officiating is one of the biggest problems in college football. Subjective calls like targeting and pass INT are being made by guys who do this part time. Holding can be called on every play, and now seemingly is. Something needs to be done.
GO ROCKETS!!! 🚀
I don’t know. That Kirby Smart response sounded like he’s already setting it up for a 2 to 3 score loss against Texas 🤣
Qt is on every corner in Tulsa, okc has 711, and oncue. Qt just started moving in
Watched San Diego St-Cal last night, ref’s were front and center all night long
I stayed up to watch that game too 😂it was solid. LSU got bailed
13:33 you definitely need immunity when you get a hydro facial
Hey Josh! Oklahoma, Vols first true test.
Go Dawgs! Sic Em!
Wait? You storm chase??? I've always wanted to do that in Oklahoma!
