Anthony you are the most talented photographer I have come across on UA-cam. The grandeur of your work is astonishing. God bless you all the best and health in 2024🥰
Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed it, apologies for my absence, life, work, family, health issues, you know how it is! Oh to be retired and devote all my time to the great outdoors! Lol! I trust all is well with you. I hope to be out again soon. Have a great week end my friend. Atb Anthony

Hi Anthony. Once again so many beautiful scenes! Terrific panoramic view and sunset. You must enjoy your wild camp treks. Well done, my friend 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day 😀.
What a treat 🤩 I was so happy to see this video . Your timelapses were stunning I love them very much 😉👍 The sunset was just wonderful! Your capture and editing is always top notch 👍👍👍 The landscape was amazing and the view of your shade walking and appearing was nice . I also love when you are walking towards the camera and suddenly the camera seems going backwards 👍 Nice effets ! Just beautiful my friend ! That opening was stunning. Great time lapse. Absolutely beautiful up there and looked breezy in the morning with the fog. Absolutely stunning Anthony. All the best 💝
I feel like I say the same thing over and over but... DAMN! Once again you dominated the landscape and capture it as it should be shared. The shadow shot was premo! Bravo, Anthony. Bravo.
Thanks Rockie, I’ve neglected my local fells for too long. I can see Broom Fell and many more every day as I travel to work, I’ve just never camped on any until now! Hopefully I can get out again next week for another camp. ATB Anthony 🌅

Great upload 👍 a wild camp on Broom Fell . This is a stunning shooting technique from a master. The winter scenery that shocked me is still beautiful and charming 🏕 Happy Thanksgiving Day 🌎🇺🇸💕
Beautiful opening sequences Anthony......Loved that 'shadow' shot coming off Barf, spectacular sunset time-lapse. Always look forward to your videos and hopefully there will be many more...........ATB........Stu.....👌👍📷
Thanks Stu, I now have a decent winter mat and winter sleeping bag, the tent will have to wait until next year but it means I can venture out into colder temps and enjoy this amazing winter light! I'll get a few more camps under my belt first then maybe do a review of the new gear. Atb Anthony
Great video angain Tony. But! I'm a bit confused about the Moutain Warehouse jackets. You started out wearing an orange one but on day 2 it was a blue one. You might want to have a word with the 'continuity' deapartment of your vast organisation ;-)
Thanks Bill, I will try and explain.... My orange jacket is a lightweight shell, it's good for keeping off wind and it is of course waterproof. Depending on temperatures, the load you are carrying, the steepness of the Fells you are doing etc, it is possible to overheat and perspire (not good) so you need something that is also breathable which it is. When the temperatures drop as they did as the sun disappeared ( hovering around 1 degree celsius ) you need a warm jacket which is where the blue one comes in as it is all about keeping you warm, the orange one isn't designed for warmth. The blue one is not waterproof either but it does compress down to a tiny pack size. The morning was just as cold hence the blue jacket. Had I filmed something inside my tent you could have admired me in my jim-jams 🤣😨😜
@@anthonypayne1 Oh! I must pop down to Mountain Warehouse and buy those (not the jarmers). So versatile. (shameless plug!). But seriously, great video and keep up the good work. See you in March mate. (Remember Blencathra next?)
Hi Anthony, Your footage of the sunset is incredibly colorful and well captured. The hiking trail is so beautiful and clean, I would feel as though I am one with nature. Well done video share. Merry christmas and a big thumbs up.
That was a pretty awesome video Anthony! I absolutely loved the glowing Sunset time-lapse! So beautiful! Such a cool hike you did! The panorama's were just amazing. Great job as always my friend!
Many thanks Eric, it was great to be out enjoying this glorious winter light. The colors in the sunset were just amazing, it was a special moment for me! Have a great weekend my friend. Atb Anthony
Fantastic filming as always Anthony..a route I'm familiar with, that pull up barf is a steep one ain't it 😉 beautiful sunset scenes & a lovely part of the lakes that's a nice bit quieter than other areas tfs..
Thanks Andy, Yeah I'd forgotten how steep Barf is! Lol! I'm so lucky to have these as my local fells, I pass them every day going to work and back, but I'd never camped on them until now. Needless to say, I'll be planning some more camps in the area soon! Atb Anthony
Thanks Kathy, I feel the same when I watch yours and all my other friends videos across the water. It's unlikely that I'll ever get to visit, so it's a real treat to have all these amazing places delivered to me by UA-cam!
As usual amazing filming. The sunset was spectacular. I don’t think you’ve ever left a trace. Now what was the building that wasn’t a building more a stack of rocks. Hugs 🤗
Thank you Suzy, yes it was an amazing sunset! I try and do my (little) bit by picking up other people's rubbish along the way too, I feel it's important to look after these places for future generations to enjoy! Building? 😉 Summit cairns come in all shapes and sizes, it depends on the fell, the grassy ones might only have a solitary stone, where there is plenty of rock laying around the cairns will be bigger! Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
Great that you could get out for a wild camp, even in the cold weather! Gorgeous views of the fells and mountains. You always capture lovely time lapses showing the clouds floating by and gliding over the hills. Relaxing to see the sunset at the end of a lovely day. Too bad about the morning fog. Hope you’re enjoying December! All the best ~ Jennifer 😄👍💖
Thanks Jennifer, it was great to be out again. The sunset put a smile on my face 😊 I set up for a night lapse too, sadly it clouded over, once the fog had cleared the following morning it turned into a very pleasant morning hike back. Atb Anthony
Looked a great trip, Anthony👍 That sunset was really something special! Beautifully filmed as always. Love your inventiveness for coming up with new shots and angles! ATB👍
So good Anthony I’m moved by the beauty of the place. Watching your videos I always feel proud to be English. The low sun this time of year casts a lovely light ; I did like you and your shadow there against the mountain, good shot! Many thanks and best wishes to you 👍
Thanks Catherine, yes I do not know how all the time goes so quickly! Winter light, with a low sun is another favorite time of mine to be out. The downside as you point out is a lot of tent time, but for me it's worth it. Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony

Absolutely fantastic as always Anthony, after months of not being out I knew this would inspire me and get the outdoors juices flowing. Forgot how nice it is up there and some stunning views for smaller fell, infact bet it looks even better looking at a snow capped Skiddaw. Anyways thanks for sharing and hope all is well. Happy Christmas and all the best for 2022. Steve
Thank you Anthony, wonderful veiws. Its long hours in the tent and I have yet to camp out this season but I'm ready with my kit for when I get the chance. Take care.👍
Thanks mate, I was keen to get out and test my new winter mat and sleeping bag, the temperatures hovered around 1degree Celcius needless to say they both passed with flying colors but I'm really wanting to go out in sub zero conditions for a proper test! I'll do a little review when I've spent some more time with the gear in a forthcoming video. I don't mind the long hours spent in a tent, I find it relaxing! Atb Anthony
@@anthonypayne1 I look forward to the review video that would be great. Quite fancy a cold camp myself and have just ordered some of those cheap down trousers to help keep warm, I findnow I'm older I have to be a lot more carefull about getting cold. I remember a few years ago camping in - 10c in the lake district. Everything was frozen and I strugled to get the pegs in.🤣👍Yes I like to listnen to the radio ,maybe a play on R4.
Second time watching this as I was disturbed the first time just before it finished but an excellent watch, really enjoyed it. Funny enough, I have never been up Broom Fell as someone told me years ago it was a horribly steep assent and quite iffy but there you are walking up with a camping pack! With just completing the Coledale Horseshoe this seems the next logical area to explore, looked a cracker as well. I loved the kern on Broom fell, always appreciate that when you have made the effort to get there. Amazing sunset and night skies but a bit of a difference in the morning, still, a very enjoyable watch, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan, Yeah, I can thoroughly recommend the three fells I did, but a word of warning! The route up Barf is currently closed by the Forestry Commission as they are felling a lot of trees in that area, I had to make a two hour detour to get back on track, and yes the path is steep and there is a small bit of scrambling to do, so probably wouldn't be suitable for Mrs Metalman! However there are easier ways to get up there via Whinlatter just check the paths are open before you go! The cairn on Broom does seem unusually large for such a small and out of the way fell, there is also a decent wind shelter next to it, maybe it was a popular fell to do back in the day. Atb Anthony
Well now I’ve very much missed these Anthony Glad you’re back 👍👍👍 A stunning sunset - isn’t it amazing that they’re always best when there is cloud about. That one was utterly mesmerising!! A beautiful film again. Loved the shadow shots 😍😍 The views are so amazing from up there. Good choice of “venue” and seat for that show by nature. Must have been a cold one!!! Just great. Beautiful video, great shots and such a stunning landscape. I love hiking myself, but havent done any real wild camping yet. Going to do it on Lofoten though this year. Thanks for sharing this, going to subscribe as well :)
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel, I really appreciate it 👍 Good luck on your first wild camp, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy it😊ATB Anthony
Thanks Jon, Yeah the bus service is pretty good, I managed to do all the Wainwrights by bus and camping out. As I got down off Ling Fell at Wythop my knees started swelling up, the original plan was to head to Dubwath and call in if they were open, but instead I took the shorter direct route and picked up a bus at Embleton .I am planning a camp on Sale for the future so I will definitely call in then! Atb Anthony
Beautifully filmed Anthony , that’s was some sunset . It’s years since I have done those fells , forgot there are some great views to be had from up there . You not fancying a camp this weekend 🥶🥶😂 atb Dave
Thanks Dave, I can see Broom Fell and most of the other NW fells from my journey into work every day, lost count of the times I've walked them, just never camped on them until now! I think I'll be returning soon, but maybe not this weekend! 😨 It's looking a little breezy over the next few days, I'll leave it to the Soulo Black Label boys!😉 Atb Anthony
Thanks Anthony, you looked very fresh after that steep climb up to Barf ! These were my last string of fells I walked before the lock downs started. Looking forward to getting back to the lakes early next year. Thanks for bringing us along with you. Atb.
Thanks mate, I'd forgotten just how steep Barf is in places Lol! I took plenty of time to rest on the way! I had the place pretty much to myself and plan another camp over that way soon. Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
Thanks Linda, there were some decent flattish pitches near the cairn, water too! If you are planning to do Whinlatter I would advise you to check the path/ route you plan to do is open. The Forestry Commission is doing a lot of tree felling at present, my route was closed up Barf (guess who didn't check😒) and had a two-hour detour to make! Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
@@anthonypayne1 thanks, that's good to know. Regarding trigs, I love to sleep in, so I try to get spots away from them.. Water? Can't remember seeing any source.. was there a stream? It was great to watch that film cos I did similar route, just the other way around:)
Hi Linda, just before you cross over the stile to the summit cairn and shelter, on your right about 20-30m away are some small pools of water. I feel the same about camping near summit cairns but I saw only two people all day and being an early riser I knew I wouldn't encounter anyone the following morning either! Atb Anthony
Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I really appreciate it. Yes, nature put on a spectacular light show for me, I do not think my filming did it justice. Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
Boy that looked very open, are you still using the Terra Nova? The sunset was amazing and you captured it and the atmosphere perfectly... Thanks for a great video...
Yes I am still using the Terra Nova! I was testing out my new four season mat and sleeping bag (video to follow) I'm still undecided on which four season tent to go for, but as long as I'm careful and it's not too windy the Terra Nova does fine.
@@anthonypayne1 Yeah, unfortunately it comes down to more weight with a four season, I'm still trying to find one that's better than the Hilleberg Akto for weight and strength... Though not cheap...
Spectacular sunset indeed, looked a cracking walk and as always put togther so well by your goodself Anthony - cracking stuff. Is this a recent camp, looked a bit cool n blustery at times? atb Al
Hi Alan, Yes it was great to be out, the colours were just amazing! and yes, this was filmed on Monday 22nd Nov. It was indeed a little cool, especially after the sun went down and the wind got up, temperatures were hovering around 0 degrees C. I was hoping for even colder conditions as I was keen to test out my new winter mat and sleeping bag. I'll talk a little about them in a future video, suffice to say they passed with flying colors and I was toasty warm! Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony

I pass all these fells on my way to work every day and although I've walked them all many a time I've never camped on any of them until now! Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
@@anthonypayne1 well it looked a great choice to catch the sunset 👍👍👍 Glad the new equipment worked out well mate
Awesome sunset and filming as usual Atb
Thanks for watching Yorkie, your wonderful comment and support. Have a great weekend. Atb Anthony
Fabulous video as always Anthony. Thanks for bringing back great memories of my time up there although I went the other way and camped on Whinlatter. Take care. Lee
Thanks Lee, I've walked all these Fells many a time, but never camped up there until now! Needless to say I'll be doing some more camps up there soon! Atb Anthony
I noticed the Scarpa Anthony - needed in them bogs latterly. Lovely sunset sequence. I trust you're well - missed this. Mark
Thanks Mark, yeah I've had them for years, best boots I've ever owned! Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year mate🎅🎄
@@anthonypayne1 A pleasure Anthony. They are a good boot. I use them when in the wet spaces. Thanks - a mellow one for me. Hope you have a good time.
Nice camping !
Thanks for stopping by👍 Have a great day. Atb Anthony
Those skys 👍🏼
It was humbling to see such an amazing sky with just about every colour imaginable! If only every day could end this way! Atb Anthony
Awesome buddy
Glad you liked it mate. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year🎄🎅👍
Beautiful video, great shots and such a stunning landscape.
@@anthonypayne1 you are welcome, and thanks 😊 im really looking forward to that.
Hello and good video. Really enjoyed watching and subbed you. Atb Steve 👍
Hi Steve, thanks so much for the comment and sub🙏 I really appreciate your support! I hope to be back out next week for another wild camp. Atb Anthony
Great place to camp, never think of using buses but I will now, did you not have a coffee at the train before catching bus yam 🚂☕👍Atb jon
Atb Anthony
You are so brave to pitch so close to the trig point.
I remember that hike very well.. lovely place.
I still haven't done Whinlatter:)
Atb Anthony

very noice
Thanks again 👍 I hope to be out filming again soon 🌅
Atb Anthony
@@anthonypayne1 What mat & bag have you got?
Hi Alan, the mat is the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm and the sleeping bag is the Robens Serac 600 short.
