Chamar Pop & Punjabi Castes | Changar, Chuhra & Chamar | Indigenous Psychology Urdu Hindi #chamarpop is my latest video on Punjabi castes. I appeal for an end to discrimination againts the so called lower castes as it has a terrible effect on their self-esteem.
My professional profile:
Dr. Muhammad Asir Ajmal (born January 31, 1962) is the most popular Psychologist in Pakistan. He is hailed as a champion of Sufi Psychology and indigenous theory building. Dr. Asir Ajmal is Professor as well as Director of Psychology Programs at Lahore School of Management, University of Lahore. He is the son of Muhammad Ajmal, the founder of Psychology as an academic discipline in Pakistan and has held his father’s chairpersonship at Government College University, Lahore, Psychology Department.
Asir Ajmal is an alumnus of Government College, Lahore and Dartmouth College, USA, and a trained clinical psychologist from NHS, UK. He has taught in various institutions in Pakistan and established departments of psychology in multiple universities. He is best known for developing indigenous perspective in Psychology and initiating qualitative psychological research in Pakistan.
Education
Dr. Asir Ajmal has a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, USA (1994). He obtained his master's degree in Psychology in 1984 from Government College, Lahore with a gold medal and roll of honor. During student life, he was active in dramatics and music. He completed post-doctoral work at Teachers College of Columbia University in 1998. In 1999, he went to Britain where he received Statement of Equivalence in Clinical Psychology (2002) and membership of the clinical division of the British Psychological Society.
Career
Asir Ajmal’s career began in Dartmouth College where he worked as teaching assistant from 1985 to 1989 during his doctorate. He spent a year in Nicaragua in 1990, volunteering as a psychologist on a cooperative for mentally retarded adults. He worked as a journalist for The News International and the Muslim (1991 - 1994) while working on his dissertation which he completed in 1994. After nearly a year at Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Islamabad under the great visionary Dr Tariq Banuri, and a brief stint at UPI, he joined Ali Institute of Education (AIE) in 1996 under the equally visionary and great educationist Dr Hamid Kizilbash.
Under Dr Kizilbash’s leadership, he served as head of in-service teacher training program funded by UNDP and conducted teacher training workshops all over rural Punjab and northern areas until 1999. In December 1999, he joined the National Health Service in UK as a clinical psychologist, where he also received on the job training, until 2006 before returning to Pakistan. He served for 7 years in Government College University Lahore as foreign professor.
He was the chairperson of the Department of Psychology at GC University, Lahore from January, 2011 to January 2013. He has had various teaching and administrative positions during his career (Including Virtual University of Pakistan and University of Central Punjab). Currently he is working as Director of Psychology Programs at Lahore School of Management, University of Lahore.
He also served as visiting faculty at Institute of Business Management, University of Engineering and Technology and Kinnaird College for Women Lahore. In addition, he is a certified leadership trainer and consultant at Franklin Covey Pakistan since May 2014 and runs a private practice and consultancy alongside.
Dr. Ajmal is a vibrant presence in the field of Psychology in Pakistan. He has a huge student following and is revered for his charismatic style, his extensive knowledge and innovative approach. He is also admired by his colleagues for his academic standing, dynamism and commitment.
This channel is devoted to indigenous psychology, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, music, languages, perennial philosophy and many other things traditional. I want to share many of my interests with everyone and educate those who might be interested.
I seek to use this channel also as a resource for psychology students who may have gaps in their learning of psychotherapy.
I also seek to help those who might be having mental health difficulties and want to help themselves.

20 year bad tu dekh lena beta me v chamar he har jagah chamar hi chamar dikhege......we are 22% in india and this is beginning not the end. 2020 board exam many chamar students are topper. Because we are focusing on education. Me and my wife also on top govt post and we back support of our community.
My brother is IAS office in maharashtra. Let's see what we do in future. We are strengthen our community to education.

In India, lower caste like Chamar have progressed very much due to Indian constitution and Dr Ambedkar. In Pakistan lower castes are still living like slaves. Pakistan was created by the likes of Syed Ahmed Khan and Jinnah to perpetuate the privilege of Ashraf Muslims. British also played divide and rule. In 1932 when separate electorate was being carved out for the depressed castes British deliberately left out Muslim lower caste as a result they never got any affirmative benefits from the state and even in 2021 their situation is very pitiable in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Chamar is distorted version of Charm-kar; a Sanskrit word. Charm means skin, Kar means worker. A person associated with leather work. The community has many subcaste. The most common is Jatav. Majority of them are highly educated and enterprising. Manyavar (Late) Kanshi Ram and Bhen Mayavati are from this community. Both of them are highly respected for their accomplishments.
Even I consider caste system as outdated concept, but it is a Social reality which has to be accepted.

Thanks for sharing your Studies Asir Ajmalji , I shall like to add that Chamar word is formed by combining two words of Sanskrit - Charm - means skin or hide and kar means work . basically charmkar means someone who works on animal hides.
chamar is nothing but a derivative word of charmkar as most people do not use sanskrit but local dialects in day to day conversation.

Kanjar is same as Bastard in English. So, Kanjar is someone whose mother is laying with different men and she does not know whose son she got pregnant with.Thus, she does not have a last name for her son, which comes from the father. That son she will give birth to is kanjar. Very derogatory.

But still, we see that the difference we have within the last 70 years is constantly increasing. Will there ever be such a time between the two countries when both of us can freely visit in each other's country. Interesting as well as a much needed intervention. However, I think it will take more than one polite plea against caste prejudice to make even a minimal impression on the hard rock of caste bias especially against lower castes where the words choorha and kammi are used pejoratively by good bad and indifferent musalmans regardless of the fact that there is no concept of caste in Islam. Re the Sufi acceptance of caste identity - I think further clarification/information is needed as the Sufi's used caste reference as identity markers and not as part of a hierarchy of privileges - which they rejected fairly regularly e.g. Bulhe Shah's 'jerha Bulhe nu syed akhesi - dosakh odhiyan jayian

Queen Satyavati in Mahabharat had a Shudra father (Daashraj), her distinguished brahmin son Ved Vyas wrote mahabharata, and her great grandson Arjun was a Kshatriya and the central character of the epic. Somewhere that respect and inclusion got lost and we should get that respect back to the shudras. But making claims like "Thousand's of years of enslavement" comes from mistranslation of the word Das to Slave. Wives called themselves daasi of their husbands were they enslaved? Modern values fit better in a mechanized modern world where billions of humans engaged in labor are now free to move up in the society and Chamaar pop is the right step towards pride for all. Caste is in DNA of people of Indian Subcontinent. You can change your but can't change your caste. After converting to other religion only caste name is changed but no change in social status.
Islam doesn't deal with any type of human race. Weather on caste,class and anything else. They are just believing on one God. And Sufism is the concept of love with God and God's creation.
There is no any role of casteism in this religion and also the Sikhism.
