They won the grand award Artist of the Year right after this performance. I remember JHope was the first one who broke into tears during the speech and followed by all V, Jin, JK and all of them then. I was watching this live at home and everyone was crying too. BTS did so well and they will continue to succeed this year and many more years..
I was on a field trip on my way to watch the nutcracker and I when J-hope started crying I started crying too.

This was an important wake up call for us all though. We must never forget that they are humans and stand under pressure and worry about not meeting expectations. I respect and love them so much and am really grateful about them being so genuine with their feelings and struggles.

I deadass cannot think of a single artist or group that can do it all. Sing, dance, rap, produce, etc. The closest person i can think of who would be at the same level would be Michael Jackson in terms off showstopping natural talent, but as far as i'm aware he couldn't rap.
All i know is BTS is next level. There won't ever be another group like them. There's a lot of amazing and extremely talented groups out there atm but i don't think any of them will ever surpass BTS.

If you ask me I would say Queen was the only grup I think that performance was on that high level but these were different times and they didn't dance but purely stage presence and show yeah this would be the group. but such groups cannot be compared because, as I mentioned, these were different times. but they were the most innovative then, they combined many styles and Freddie was a great showman.
But if we talk about the whole package (sing rap dance produce vision empathy intelligence good will and heart imagination
humble soul artistic mind etc) then I don't know anybody.
And yes if you ask if there was/is a kpop group close to BTS then I say no but I also agree that Big Bang was sparkle, was the beginning and hope for the future and then BTS came and all is history ;)

I love how Blaze dissects aspects of BTS. It's just such a true form of appreciation and i love it, all of you guys have such a strong appreciation and i always love the feedback yall give! One of my favorite things about them and when they perform is that no matter how big or small it could be, they always treat it like it's one of their concerts. They put their hearts and souls into it. Everytime they are on any type of stage they some how make it feel like we ate literally at one of their own shows.

I liked what Blaze said about the artistry but also the fact that Namjoon, Jin and Suga have been dancing for 7 years everyday while dancing is not in their blood is so admirable. You gotta respect them for being on point in every performance and never making a mistake. The hard work the guys have put in to be this good and seeing them dance I want them to know it's worth it. Always enjoy your reactions thanks guys!

I have to say something and I feel like y'all might get where from I'm coming from. So forgive me if this comment gets to looking like an essay lol 😊
I have watched quite a few videos of BTS performing Idol in various places but on stage, in front of a crowd, it's just incredible! The whole atmosphere changes from a concert to a celebration! You feel it thru the video so now, even you're apart of it, without realizing it. Everyone is singing and dancing together, including the boys, just having a great time! You can tell that they feel the crowd and you can almost see it energize them. They've said themselves that, it's one of their most difficult songs to perform. Can y'all tell it's hard for them? No? Me either! They make it look easy because they love what they do and the people that got them there. Genuine passion and mutual respect. It's so crazy!! I can only imagine what they are like live!! I'm a broke fan girl. That's why I watch so many videos. I recognize and accept my lot in life lol 😝 💁
The same can be said for quite a few of their songs actually, BTS will make you feel something with just about any of their songs. But, this one always stands out as a "would-LOVE-to-be-apart-of" song for me. (Dionysus is another top one)
I've been watching their rise to the top since 2015 and I haven't had one moment that I didn't feel proud to see them grow and succeed. They are truly worthy of the hype, and of, all the love they are receiving. It's been so cool to watch. #ProudARMY #Borahae 💜

I am so glad I live in a time where UA-cam exists. I was a young adult when MTV started. BTS really is next level - but being in my 50s there is no chance that I would have run into their music without James Corden and Jimmy Fallon. Nothing compares, the only thing that comes close is the Super Bowl half time show or the opening ceremony for the Olympics
I'm in my mid 40's and NEVER would have heard of BTS, if it weren't for my friends' kids (ages between 6 to 21) who watched their music videos everytime I visited. They danced around the house singing in Korean & cooed over their 'bias' for years while me and the other mum's tried to catch up and it was getting on my nerves!😖 It wasn't until 2020 Lockdown, that I finally got on UA-cam to find out who they were. The James Corden Show is what made me a BTS Army! 😅 Their persona's really shone through and I got to hear their speaking voices for the first time which brought a smile to my face. Their live performance of Black Swan left me STUNNED!😮 Music being an International language, doesn't need translating. You recognize 'good' when you hear it. I heard it and saw it, and absolutely LOVED it! 🤩🥰👏👏👏 What amazed me and didn't expect, was to hear a beautiful melody with singing, rapping and contemporary-ballet dancing AT THE SAME TIME?!?😮🤷🏾♀️ It was truly a WOOOAAAW moment for me! Blaze said in another video, that if Michael Jackson was in a group with other Michael Jackson's, you'd get BTS! 💯🔥😄 They ARE the ULTIMATE SUPER GROUP! Period. Since then I've watched Run BTS, Bon Voyage, Festa and backstage in concert clips and really caught up. I noticed in old videos how badly the Korean media and celebrities had treated them at the start of their careers. I was shocked at how individuals were singled out and openly mocked by grown men who call themselves reporters🤬 BTS took the criticism all in, had a good cry (they were KIDS after all), then got up and to went to work. They overcame their haters with their musical talent & positive attitude and gained the love & respect of their hyungs & peers as well as new fans ALL OVER THE WORLD! You only have to look at Hollywood to see what happens to kids brought up in the limelight. How they change and not always for the better. Some of them choose not to live to tell their stories😥 But here are BTS. The same humble, gifted, hardworking, sensitive, kind and goofy guys, who are still the same after living, working & traveling together for 8 years! And still going 😄 💖 They still have ambitions and dreams, but don't just talk about them. They plan ahead and go for it. They are amazing young men that any parent would be PROUD to call their sons (like me)! When they received Artist of the Year at this award show and J-hope broke down, then the rest, my heart broke for them💔😭 They SOOOO deserved it. I was a proud Mama with an aching heart! I wish nothing but the best for them. When they do their mandatory Military service, I hope the remaining members will keep going until they're back together again. Here's hoping 😔🙏 BTS TRULY ARE THE BEST! 🥰👏👏 Proud BTS Crackhead and Army forever 💜
@@Kntgtenuf3 I am 61 and first saw BTS on Stephen Colbert's late show at a very bad time for me ( 8 people close to me died all close together and other troubles too had me so very low in life, my last of 4 kids had left home for the last time too and Trump did not help either) then once I watched 1 performance by BTS I had to see more. Like you I was off & running and years in now and I still have not come close to seeing all the content online, even though I tried and still try regularly,, lol.
Their integrity, respect for others, love among themselves, silly funny selves and hard working work ethic along with their obvious talent and heartfelt messages of loving ones self and persevering all hit me just right and spoke volumes. They gave me the hope that this world still can become a better place for everyone to be themselves and exist with love.
The guy who recruited these 7 guys to become BTS had real genius because he did not try to ultra control every aspect of BTS, as other major kpop studios always had done with their groups and their members, their music choices etc. Instead he told them they HAD TO write about their own feelings and experiences and this faith in them with the freedom of artistry, creativity is a critical factor that made/ still makes BTS so different from the rest of KPOP groups. Who he selected, with the members input as they were added, then how he let them BE THEM has mattered so much in so many ways.

They won the Artist of the Year Daesang after this stage. All 7 were crying and then Jin revealed they had contemplated to disband earlier that year. He never said why, but everybody was stunned.

i was so immersed watching, remembering how i felt when i first saw this, extremely proud and just happy you 3 gentlemen love our boys so much and so proud of their performance when i remember, hold awn - this is not even a concert, this is JUST an award show.
I think this is something that make BTS unique because they ALWAYS make armys and people get surprised by their music, MVs, performances, concerts, etc.
But I really admire and it is something that make me feel proud of being army is that I met RM, Suga and JHope Rapin'. I met Suga, Jin and RM not good at "dancing" and now they are doing all this things almost perfect.
The point is that I saw through the years how they practice and try to improve thst lacking areas(dancing, singing, rapin) I saw Taehyung rapin cyphers, I saw Jin dancin jhope's moves, I saw Suga and RM singing. Eventough I didn't mention Jimin or JK they were improving so hard about their high notes or dancin skills.
I saw each member of BTS helping each other to improve, i saw they cheering each other to don't fall. I saw them practicing so hard to have a great work to show us, and every time doing harder than the last time. It is incredible how they has been working through the years, for that reason I can say THEY DESERVE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE AND EVEN MORE. They could enjoy their fame, make whatever thing for mvs or songs because they are famous and that its. But they choose the long way, they give us more and more. Every day, every come back, every MV, every production. In my 25 years I haven't seen anything like BTS.

I love that BTS can go from a high energy and sometimes gritty concert to an artfully created performance that lifts itself up to theater. Telling a story with song and dance requires an amazing amount talent and is worthy of any stage. BTS does it better than anyone, and in any language.

When Hobi starts to cry I was crying too.
TIME refered to BTS as a "supergroup". Blaze is totally on point. It is at this award show that jhope started crying onstage (when they went to receive artist of the year award), then other members started tearing. When jin exposed that the group considered disbanding, V broke down completely. Very emotional.
You get it. That was such a great night. What follows was the acceptance speech for artist of the year when they literally all cry and Army all around the world fell down and cried too have you seen it? Anyway guys I’m loving you all more and more.
And a reminder: It's an award show. Not their concert😂😍💜.

You are so right. Noone compares to BTS. They are so multi talented it's unreal. Everyone has some sort of input into the songs. The solos are inspired by the artist's view. Not many groups or solo acts are willing to be as personal as BTS. Not even when I was younger did I enjoy music as much as I do them. Keep purpling them forever. 🤟💜💜
The Artist of The Year Award acceptance speech was soul touching it made by tears flowed down my cheek one after another.
BTS is what happens when you nurture talent, respect their creative freedom and you're not afraid to drop money on their performances. What you get is a team that has pride over their craft. It doesnt matter whether if it's for five minutes or two hours, you give it to BTS and it will be a show that is mind-blowing and they will give the same energy and passion from start to finish. BTS has given the same amount of passion and energy when the cameras are no longer on, when the lights are turning off, and the crowd is starting to go home as when they had a stadium tour!!!! It's why i respect them so much.
This was a BTS concert at an Award show. This is the same energy at every BTS concert. Know that ARMYS don't sit down. We stand, sing, dance and scream the whole time. Be prepare to loose your voice and ache like you haven't ached in a while after their concert. My daughters lost their voice the next day and my outta shape ass was in pain. It was ALL worth it though. I can't wait to hear about your experience 😊💜

You guys should check out full performances of BTS in MAMA 2016 and 2017 too. That period is the gap when they move from a Kpop groups to world wide stars :)))
This is my 1st time watching this. I do plan to see this show on my own too. Suga totally surprised me. He killed that with Hobi. And Jimin and his moves, sigh. I am in love because he my bias. I have never seen a Group go to such lengths to make their Concerts unbelievable, the time they spend rehearsing & making sure every move is perfect! There stage presence and there clothes & clothes changes are unbelievable, but the money they must spend on there stages and how Beautiful they are, and most of the times every song they sing each stage changes just like there clothes, why is everyone obsessed with BTS, this is why, the whole Universe is “”OBSESSED””, they are completely “”AMAZING “”! So glad you guys saw this! This was probably one of my favorite live performances if theirs. You really can see in their performance and productions how much they love music in general and how much it means to all of them.
You guys should check out Mama 2016 it has the intro performance of jhope and jimin to boy meets evil and it still blows me away 3 years later.

We look forward to their year end performance because they always drop subtle hints about their upcoming albums and works and this was before persona drops. Their performances are always on another level. You wouldn't know this is an award show cause it looks like their concert. I hope one day I could go to their concert cause that would be the most amazing thing.
This was epic, especially the Idol intro and performance. That night was a really important one for BTS and ARMY. When they won Artist of the year right after this performance Jhope started crying and spoke very vulnerable for the first time which set off the entire group and then Jin revealed how much they struggled with the meteoric rise of fame the last year, and at the beginning of 2018 before Hopeworld and Love yourself tear, some of them didn't know if they could go on and they considered disbanding (all their contracts were coming up for renewel in the next year) but how they came together and were able to gather their courage and strength with the love and support of the other members and have this incredible year and signed again contracts with Bighit.

BTS will turn an award shown into their own concert. That's what I love about them, the fact that they are bold.
Your reaction to this group is sport on ..this group needs to blow up in the West for sure ...to stop all their prejudices. With Army on their side were gonna make it happen they will shutter all the music chats and will be forced to give them air time for these are real artists who deserve respect for their craft .

I’ve been to BTS concerts and I’ve been to a lot of American concerts. When I went to go see some of the American artists I thought that was lit and hyped but after 1 BTS concert, I just can’t look at western music the same. Like the BTS concert had me dead for like 3 days I was so lit. Then going to another artists concert it really felt sooooooo different. Like BTS was crazy! And at the time I wasn’t even a huge fan (my friend bought tickets someone backed out and she was begging me to go since I know Korean) and when I went ngl I wasn’t expecting much and YALL I WAS SO WRONG. When they came on stage my soul left in the first like 10 seconds they were already lit. So yeah all I can say now is I’m DEFINITELY in the Army. 💜

i don't comment very often but i wanted to let you guys know i always enjoy your reactions. you're true armys and i love that you really appreciate everything our boys bts give to us. nico i loved watching you grow then bring ajj and then blaze along for the ride. i also love mika's heart when she appears. i'm so glad you all were able to get tickets to the concert, prepare to be blown away. bts put on a show like know other, as you have seen in videos like these, but when you're watching them live in front of you ... it's crazy and incredible. hope you have a blast.
now onto some things i enjoyed and wanted to comment on. as an older army who used to dance back in the day i LOVED the house party movies. boy that kid n play dance ... i perfected that with my friends in the cafeteria and gym of my old high school. those movies were on repeat for me. also, didn't the back up dancers marching in lines with the all black and black caps on give you janet jackson - rhythm nation vibes? i always get those feels when i watch this.
to answer the question about any group in history that does it like bts ... there aren't any. this is coming from someone who listens to every genre of music and loved boy groups. the jackson 5 had motown some dance, music creation and instruments, new edition had r&b, hip hop and pop, n'sync had pop and dance. but the whole package, dance, lyrics, rap, vocals, writing and producing music, spanning multiple genres, spreading important messages ... yeah no one has ever done it like bts. they are in a category of their own.
