Ezd6 is a blast to play and run but be sure to adjust enemies HP on the fly. My party of 4 all had basic magic items and almost blew apart my boss and his minions in 3 turns.
@@DMTalesTTRPGNice! Sounds like so much fun for you and the players. Also I enjoyed the list, only heard of half of these. I always love checking out something new and interesting. Love your stuff 🤙
Some cool sounding games I've never heard of before! I'm looking forward to trying Dragonbane, Tidal Blades (an Avatar/Moana-esque waterworld setting for Cypher), Tomorrow City, Salvage Union, Hard City, and Outgunned.
Quite a few of already mentioned things (in video and comments) are on my list as well, but a couple of others are: - "Adventurous" from Dawnfist games - "Sundered isles" for Ironsworn - Rumored eons ago, I hope happening in 2025, expansions for CY_Borg "Waste: 20X4", and "Dead Flag Contracts" for Death in space - Pirate Borg "Down among the dead" and "Cabin fever" expansions
Great list! For us, it’s more Shadowdark and ICRPG - and excited about trying Hard Suit for the first time. And a new campaign of B/X D&D. Possibly Tales from the Loop and/or Things from the Flood.
I own Criwn & Skull, however it is a game I will never run. I am unable to get over the Attrition system and how it deals with equipment and weapons - in that they are part of your “hit points” and you can’t simply pick up and use weapons and equipment you find. That is a deal breaker for me, it simply strays way too far from verisimilitude for me. Will definitely run a long Tales of Argosa campaign, and I have been using the tables from Knave 2 for whatever fantasy rpg I have been running.
My top 5 TTRPGs I want to run in 2025: 1. Barbarians of Lemuria Mythic+ Edition by Ludospherik 2. Black Sword Hack Ultimate Chaos Edition 3. Dolmenwood 4. Adventurer, Conqueror, King 2e 5. Savage World of Solomon Kane SWADE Edition And my top 5 TTRPG books/book series I want to buy/back in 2025: 1. Ave Nox 2. Gods of the Forbidden North 3 volumes bundle 3. Weird Frontiers DCC 2 Volume Reprint 4. Fantasy Companion for SWADE 5. Ashes Without Number by the one and only Kevin Crawford
@@DMTalesTTRPG thanks! I would have included the Khromarium Gazetteer for Hyperborea 3e in the second list, but it's a little to early to be sure it will end up a 2025 crowdfunding.
Heh. Played Sentinels just last night, first face-to-face session I've had in months (mostly owing to all our planned October one-shots falling through due to scheduling conflicts). Enjoyable as always. Expect you'll enjoy yourself as well. Once you're past the character generation stage of things it plays very fast and smooth. The game mechanics a player really needs to know fit in about 30 lavishly-illustrated pages and once you get used to the system it's rare to have to look up anything that isn't on your character sheet. Character gen does take a while, but that's common with supers RPGs and there's much less math and fewer opportunities for analysis paralysis than most of the other systems I've tried.
With a nod to your "Real world dread but fun", I have been finding myself really into concepts like Heart and Trophy Dark. The type of games where the environment is alive and sort of has a meta consciousness, wants to give you your desires but, does not understand you. Or, more frightening still, really understand you more than you understand yourself. I don't know if that is my AI discomfort talking or that I feel a bit like this about GM-ing. It's interesting being a source of "benevolent danger" as entertainment.
I like these picks ! I totally want to check out Sentinels now. I am planning on running a hack of Index card RPG and Knave 2E (with maybe the phases for combat from Crown&Skull). ICRPG and Knave both use a modifiers only system , both seem to be loot-focused, and it will be interesting to see how loot attrition (which is in both C&S and Knave) could work with the hearts system from ICRPG.
I am looking forward to these: Mazes/Dark Tower RPG, 13th Age 2e, and especially Nimble 5e. 🍻 (At first, I didn't notice that calendar on the wall behind Wes, featuring a recreation of the cover design for the J. Eric Holmes set - my gateway drug! 😁)
A lot of cool looking stuff here. I'm really hoping I can get something more than a few scattered one-shots going this year. I'd love to run some old favorites like Call of Cthulhu (I so want to start Masks of Nyarlathotep, but I don't think that's realistic), and some new favorites like DCC and various Year Zero games. But I'm hoping to try Dragonbane, Pendragon, and I'd really love to try Dune and/or Star Trek Adventures.
@@DMTalesTTRPG I have Dune & Conan, but have never actually tried any of the 2D20 games. But I'm a Trek fan from way back. I already have several Trek games, so don't need another one...but...
I haven't heard of Land of Eem. Sounds kind of wild! But I was always a fan of Farscape, Where the Wild Things Are, and the Smile Time episode of Angel... I imagine it as Red Markets, but with puppets. I don't know anything about Electric State either - I think I mistook it for Tales From the Loop, which in my head is mostly the TV show as i never read the rpg, and didn't realize it was its own thing - and I'm intrigued mostly because of your reaction!
So The Electric State and Tales from the Loop both emerge from Art Books by Simon Stålenhag, so it makes sense you caught the relationship. The best way I can describe the game is “psychological horror.”
What games do I wish I could play in 2025? Oh man, it's a looong list. Electric State, Blade Runner, The One Ring, Dragonbane, Symbaroum, Dune 2D20, Secrets of the Weird Wizard, Broken Empire, Cairn, Knave 2nd ed. and probably a couple more. Pathfinder? Zweihander? Sure! There's no way I'll get to play even 3 of these unless I do it solo. I will be at PAGE playing Castles & Crusades, Marvel Super-heroes and WEG Star Wars. Looking forward to it. I'm currently in a group playing Fallout 2D20 and having a great time with that. Getting started with that group in 2024 was a big step forward post-Covid, as my interest in role-playing has been high since the late 1970s but my participation has generally been low while I've focused on miniatures wargaming or boardgames instead, if at all.

Here from jn3Storyteller's stream, but we've chatted before. I really want to play some Savage Worlds and possibly the Deadlands setting.
