    Undoubted the best..a player with the most accurate and dynamic range of shots hitting winners in every possible angle...no player has ever matched that skill !!!!

    she would rule the world 4 years later and was unstoppable until that nutcase Steffi Graf fan Gunther Parche stabbed her in 1993 and it would ruin her career, Monica is the #1 player in the world forever in my heart.

    Wow, this is played in Novi Sad (second biggest city in Serbia). I used to play on those courts until they removed them in 2017, now we have a terrible mall Promenada. Monica is a local legend in our city.

      Hm, i’m pretty sure it was at Sajmište,not at Spens tennis courts… Use to hang on that fence with my friends and watching her training ,and after awhile we are on our way to swimming pool

    Wow. Earliest footage ever of Monica hitting.
    In Novi Sad, Pre-Bollittieri - I never thought we'd see the like!
    And after an almost silent hit, a few grunts (single syllable) near the end.
    How do you have this naploorg?? Thank you.

    The interesting thing is how loose her wrists are. Usually, two handed players can be somewhat stiff. None of that at all with Monica - she used her wrists better than any two handed player there's been.

      @Sapam Meitai on Wimbledon 92 She defeated Martina on SF (that's one hell of achievement) and the pressure she got from the media, other players and the officials not to grunt on the final. She said it in the interview right after the final she let it got her and she promised she would do the hell she wants in the future. She never fulfilled her wish and that paid psycho got some people happy. That's what happened when you do well, people got jealous.

    • @chrato74
      @chrato74 3 роки тому +6

      @Sapam Meitai You judged her performance on grass based on only her 3 appearances (89,90 and 92), which the year 89, 90 were the early start of her career. You are a fool to expect her to win Wimbledon in her first or second year of her career. It may not her favorite surface, but that doesn't mean she couldn't win. Well I guess none of us would know because history been altered.

    • @chrato74
      @chrato74 3 роки тому

      @Sapam Meitai What about you judging her that she would never win? Isn't that boastful to the extreme? Talk about narcissism.

    Forehand with two hands, determination in the eye and, noticeably, no screaming yet for which she became famous.

    • @jamesr2164

      It's called grunting, nowhere near the sound of someone actually screaming.

    • @danherrick5785
      @danherrick5785 8 місяців тому

      Wrong - you could hear it at the end of this video when she was trying to disguise her hits to defeat her opponent.

    • @jamesr2164
      @jamesr2164 8 місяців тому +2

      @@danherrick5785 from experience, I can say you are wrong. I also try to quite myself in practice, but during a match it just comes out. It becomes a part of your game, especially if you're playing two hands off both sides.

    @Paglia444 LOL, I thought that was interesting too. Of course when she arrived at the net, she immediately attempted some sort of quasi-traditional, punch/underspin forehand volley with a wacky two-handed grip. I think Monica would have been most effective at net if she had simply abandoned traditional vollies altogether, and hit swing volleys ONLY. Always. With absolutely no exceptions.

    1993 - Starts off the year with a win at the AO, and then gets stabbed.
