I saw these images in exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, a few years ago and picked up the publication at the same time. The images are great in print, but imagine seeing giant versions on the wall - it was very impressive.

Photos very reminiscent of songs from Sting's "The Soul Cages" album, particularly "The Island of Souls" wherein the boy "Billy" and his father lived next to the shipyard and whose lives seemed dwarfed by the hulking ships that dominated their horizons.

Really good vid cheers. My mate and I (both togs) went down to Wallsend today to suss out where these shots were taken. Bit difficult to locate the exact places with all those terraces being demolished.
