The dome (cupola) that covers the Florence cathedral (the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral) is known as Filippo Brunelleschi’s dome. Arguably one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the whole Renaissance.

Just did this on Tuesday. It is not for the faint of heart. 😱
If you suffer from fear of heights or claustrophobia, this is not for you. It is grueling but really thrilling and totally worth the effort.

I've seen UA-cam videos of people climbing the dome and the stairs were packed with people. How did you manage to do it when it looks like no one was there. Early in the morning?

Hi - did they give you any issues with bringing bags with you during the climb? i read they can be pretty strict.

Duomo means cathedral not dome. Dome is cupola.
