This Noh expresses the story of a nymph of an iris, which was blessed by a famous poet with a beautiful song(tanka), and thereby ascended to heaven. It implies Noriko's marriage and separation from her father.

@@FriendlyGecko2024 Thank you for your question.
The title is Kakitsubata, which is the very name of the flower appears in this noh, and also known as Iris laevigata, or Japanese Iris.

the next to this scene, with a very pissed Noriko fleeing from her father using some nimble excuse while they are leaving is also great

One of the most powerful scenes in the history of cinema. I love this entire film, but this scene says so much by speaking so little. With simply amazing acting, convincing facial expressions, amazing cinematography, and appropriate musical accompaniment, it manages to be one of the most impacting scenes of the film.

    素晴らし作品ですね🎵私的には、小津監督の「最高の名作」だと思います🎵あのラストシーン又「能シーン」の「紀子さんの「眼の動き」」は「能」が乗りうったのでしよう😢😅🎉
