Lol! It’s an odd statement, definitely. But I guess she wanted to market her fragrance, so that was her sales pitch. I had a play aunt who loved Chanel No. 5, and I used to give her this as a present for Xmas. I want to buy the Coco Chanel for myself at some point.
Back in the day... that statement was close to the truth. If you wanted to seem sophisticated and alluring, a fragrance definitely helped in that. Also remember, there wasn't deodorant and regular bathing as there is now. So a fragrance helped mask some body odor as well. If you smelled clean, then you smelled wealthy, if people thought you were wealthy then you might go places.
I change perfumes quite often, and most especially when something new happens in my life. I faced the new decade as a single woman, and left a significant part of my old self in 2019. I was on a look out for a new scent and my mom recently bought Coco Mademoiselle on a whim, but I ended up falling in love with it so she gave it to me. And now I’ve found my signature scent to welcome the new decade and to hopefully face the inevitable quarter-life crisis as a stronger, bolder and more confident woman.
I have always wanted a Chanel perfume. After watching this video twice, I settled on the Chance eau tendre. I don’t generally buy expensive perfumes, so this is a real treat! Wish me luck, ladies.

My first Chanel parfum was Allure EDP. It was such a lovely, young and happy fragrance. I love wearing all the Chance flankers, especially for warm days. But my all time fav is Coco Mademoiselle ❤
My first purchase was Chanel NO 5. 27 yrs ago. Crisalle after 3 yrs. Then Gardenia 18 yrs ago in Sydney, David Jones. Until now my fave is Gardenia. Ive got quite a collection of Chanel fragrances bought whenever I travel.
Loved this. I have many Chanel fragrances and was also going to wear gardenia on my wedding day but when we decided on October, I switched to No. 5. Both are beautiful and will always remain in my collection but I’m currently hooked on L’Eau. More soft and delicate. Thank you for sharing this wonderful overview.
I have fallen in love with Chance eau Tendre! It's perfect for work (soft and unobtrusive) but also has a sensuality so I feel special even if everyone treats me as just part of the furniture. This Chanel has taken over from No5 as my favourite. I love your videos - fun and informative. Thanks!
I learned so much about perfume in this video, in addition to learning about the Chanel fragrances. Cristalle was one of the first perfumes I loved. I work in a fragrance-free workplace and have really gotten away from wearing perfume. I found this video really informative and inspiring to re-explore the role of fragrance in my life.

I have those same loving feelings towards Coco mademoiselle as it was my first "serious " fragrance which I bought for myself ! I had intended to buy No°5 at the time, but I took a sniff of Coco mademoiselle and knew I had found THE ONE, my signature. My husband just gifted me the enormous 3.4oz bottle for my birthday along with the body lotion and body deodorant spray! Of course I was beyond elated! Then I gifted myself a bottle of No°5 which always has a place in my heart ♥. I have never smelled No°19 and have always wanted to. I wish Chanel offered that as one of the free samples you get with your purchase. Thanks for the video, I love hearing from other people who adore Chanel's fragrances as much as I do!
This has been such an informative video😊and I enjoyed it so much that I watched it twice. I love fragrances and have quite a collection. But like you I still fondly recall my first fragrance - Chanel Cristalle ❤️I worked in the cosmetics’ section of a department store in Toronto, Canada in my late teens and I saved to buy my first bottle of Cristalle. A few years later (40 years to be exact 😳) and I repurchased Cristalle as my summer fragrance this year. It brought back lovely memories😍

Honestly my favorite Chanel perfume is the Chanel 5 eau de premiere which is basically a lighter version of the original Chanel 5, but it makes me feel confident and elegant.
I had the whole suite of Chanel no.5 on my wedding day so that's a sentimental favourite... I was given no.19 on my 19th birthday...and I love Chance and I think most of all Coco Madamoiselle.
I've been using Coco Mademoiselle(eau de toilette) since I was 17, I also was given eau de parfum version as a gift and I think it's more of a mature woman scent. It's heavier but it lasts longer

I love No5. It never fails to make me feel confident and assured. Just a little on my wrist early in the morning, let it dry-down over a few hours, then another tiny spray. It's my favourite!
Chance was my first Chanel purchase (and love), too! At age 19, I had been living in Africa for 4 months, and my mom met me in Paris on my way back to the States. Chance had just been released, and I instantly fell in love. We got to spend 2 weeks there, so I tie those memories tightly to Chance ❤️
I have been wearing Chanel no.5 eau de parfum since my Christening. How many I ever tried to change it... I always came back to buy another bottle of Chanel no.5. When I feel that need I to mix it the no.5 with my masculinity, I spray my Dior Fahrenheit, and voilà... it's magnificent. ;)

Sweetie, go on eBay and buy it. I do all the time. I'm not wealthy and I own 9 bottles of chanel. I plan on buying more. I've bought#5, which is fabulous for as little as $34.00 for the 3.4 oz perfume. Hope this helps you.

@@lisasanders6108 I was just going to mention to go on to Ebay...I got Coco Noire 3.4 ounce for about $56-$60.00 and in the store you have to pay almost $135.00 or close to $160.00 for the 3.4 once you and then add the tax in and it's close to $160.00 well thats 1/2 a car pmt or your untility.or at leaat your water bill! And even though this talking about Chanel well I also got Hypnose by Lancome 2.5 for $56.00,I got a great deal on The One Dolce by Dolce and Gabbana,Miss Dior edp,Gucci Guilty,Black Opium,etc...just to name a few..check it out! My mom's favorite all her life has been #5. I could not leave my house without perfume on. It's part of me. I truly enjoyed this video very much because I always say that I should work in the perfume industry. Every time I go to my Nordstrom store I can be hours just wondering around the cosmetic area and smelling perfumes. I just purchased my limited edition of Red bottle of Chanel L'eau. Just lovely!

For me, Allure is the best scent in winter, and Chance in summer. I think Gabriele is more for the evening and very beautiful. I also find all 3 scents very feminine. thanks for the presentation dear Erin❤
That was a lovely, informative video on a brand that is of course, legendary. I love how you separated the brands and included a personal story of why one is your favorite. While Chanel does make fragrances for men I think its mostly known as a brand of women's perfumes. I did like Egoiste for men in the late 80's early 90's. Great job Erin.

I've always loved the smell of Chanel perfumes, but I haven't always had the money to indulge in them. Years ago I was given the minatures of 5 perfumes, including No5 and No19, and although I still have 3 of the empty bottles, the scent has long faded. For my 50th birthday 4 years ago, I received a lovely large bottle of No5. Whenever there has been a special occasion I have worn it, but when I've been feeling down or simply wish to feel indulged or special I spray some and feel instantly better. Last Christmas I bought myself the box of "minature exclusifs" and out of those, so far, my favourites are Beige and Mimosa, but they are all Chanel and lovely perfumes anyway. I'm not really one for shopping instore so when I found this video I thought "Viola!", now I can learn a little more about the fragrances without having to stand instore. It was very informative and I appreciate you making it.

Coco Mademoiselle was gifted to me by my parents on my 17th birthday. My first Chanel item. It was right before i met my first love and he loved this scent on me. Sadly he broke up with me the same year and since then this perfume is reminding me of my broken heart and all the tears and the pain. It feels so strong and bad the minute i smell it, that i can't wear it anymore. Wich is very sad because i loved it so much. And i have tried to trick my brain but it did not worked. So after 9 years this beautiful bottle is still half full. I'm happily married now for 2 years but that doesn't change a thing. I still can't use it.

But I totally understand how powerful our memories can be. Maybe you can try the new Mademoiselle Intense and make new memories with your husband :) xx

I’m a die hard woods girl so Chanel CoCo is me. And the Madamoiselle as well. They both wear well on me. I have bought and worn Chance Tendre and did like it at first and would pair it with Sage wood fragrance but when I wore it alone, it did not appeal to me at all. It’s too too flowery. Too much on my nose too. The woods like sitting by fireplace and smell of cigar calms me. That’s how I discovered that I’m a woodsy/ oriental with semi floral in some fragrances that have worked for me. Great review and informative! I need to try the Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I like deep warmth fragrances.
My first perfume was miss dior travel size but my first perfume that i wear everyday is chanel chance le tendre(i got it few days ago and I fell in love with it). My mom usually always wear coco mademoiselle and my dad was chanel blue for years. Next i think ill purchase the chanel le fraiche cause i really like it too

Mya de Marco Coco Mademoiselle is one of my absolute favorite perfumes and one I will always have in my collection. I just recently purchased Armaf Club de Nuit, and this is an incredible “dupe” of coco mademoiselle. The dry down is identical and the lasting power might even be better than the Chanel. It’s also about $30 for 100ml. I know that would have been more financially obtainable when I was 16, but I also understand wanting to save up for the brand name!

I watched one of your videos talk about Coco Noir I went to the store to try it and also fell in love with it and I just bought it last month !!! Yay 😁 I really love this video because it’s a guide for me to shop for my next Chanel fragrance and build my collection. Chanel no 5 is first on my list and I’m planning to buy it this month, I love the fact that it’s 99 years old and that makes it more exciting to be able to access to something so precious, but here it is my question, next year will be the year that it will actually be 100 years, 1st Century!!! Do you know if there will be any celebration 🎉 new design, limited edition etc? Well I’m delighted to get a bottle on the 99th year and looking forward for o buy any 100 Celebration for Chanel no 5. Number 5 EDP is the best fragrance ever, I never felt so classy in my life than when I first wore it, nieche fragrances that don't have 1% of No 5's legacy are £300 a bottle and they don't even compare to No 5!
N5, Coco, Chance the best, recently I bought Mademoiselle intense, it is without doubt very luxury, but still not sure if I like it enough, because it is very linear, no surprising notes and change while wearing it.
I literally love them all! Allure holds such a special place in my heart, it reminds me of one of the happiest periods of my life. I used to wear Chanel no. 19, no. 5 very briefly, Chance, Cristalle, too. Coco Mademoiselle for some reason didn't work for me, until I tried EDT which is just perfect for me, because I am not a patchouli fan. I tried Coco Noir which is an absolute stunner, but I get an instant headache the moment I smell it. 😩 Gabrielle has no staying power, but nevertheless I love it. Chanel no.5 L'Eau is an absolute perfection in a bottle. I just think it's amazing.

It was one of the first fragrances I ever used, before later discovering Allure. I wore Allure on my wedding day 20 years ago, and it remains my favorite. Hate Chanel No. 5, don't know what ALL the hype is about that fragrance. I used to wear either No. 22 and No. 19 and liked them, but, now they discontinued one of them. I wore Cristalle when I was in my early 20's. Really loved that the most of the Chanel fragrances. I used to work at a restaurant and would wear all my Chanel fragrances, along with one Dior fragrance and some others, but, you know what fragrance I got the MOST compliments on whenever I wore it???? It will surprise you!! Emeraude by Coty!!! Everyday, I would wear a different perfume to work and no one said anything about the other perfumes I wore, but, whenever I wore Emeraude, EVERYONE would ask me what I was wearing and that I smelled so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!! I've heard they changed the fragrance of Emeraude, along with Chanel and Dior. Sad that people have to try to fix what isn't broken.
Interesting Coco facts...I recently smelled Allure and it reminded me of a soft version of Coco which I’m not a fan of but did like the Allure...How does Coco Noir compare with Coco EDP? I do love the deep scents...31 Rue Cambon being one of my favorites. If the Noir is different enough from Coco then I may buy it some day. Thank you. :-)
I really love Allure! Allure Sensuelle is a wonderful fragrance as well but not as easy to smell in person since it’s only at the boutiques. I personally prefer the Coco Noir to Coco... but it’s slightly creamier and smoother than Coco. Coco has a very sharp floral/oriental scent. It’s also gorgeous! You really can’t go wrong between the two :) xx
Now I know a little more about the fragrances :) I would say 95% of my collection is Chanel 😆 I’ve been lucky to get three of my fragrances directly from Paris 😊

Well that explains why you’re so articulate & adorable & professional on camera!😉👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻) My first high-end fragrance was Aqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani. I so understand what you’re talking about! It’s the feeling you never forget, getting your first special fragrance... I was a teenager, too:)) And to this day I think it’s one of the most beautiful fragrances in the world. They don’t make them like that anymore, at least GA doesn’t! Chanel, however, has absolutely outstanding perfumes. I think, on the mass market, Chanel & Hermès make the best ones, hands down. What a coincidence:) Coco Noir is my favorite 😊 I only wear it, however, as an evening fragrance, or on special occasions. My current daily fragrance is Deauville, & I also love #18 (from Les Exclusifs line, they call it Haute Joaillerie - the fragrance of high jewelry), but I’m almost out of it. Chance fraiche used to be my summer time favorite, but this year it has been Deauville :) They are all really great, all their perfumes... very exquisite, very deep & special... I remember how popular original Chance was. It was insane, they made a revolution with it. Thank you for this video. Very touching & nostalgic. I went to macys today and smell Chanel for the first time and the original reminded me of my grams. It was strong but then i went for the clear one and i fell in love with it.

Loved this. I have many Chanel fragrances and was also going to wear gardenia on my wedding day but when we decided on October, I switched to No. 5. I work in a fragrance-free workplace and have really gotten away from wearing perfume. I found this video really informative and inspiring to re-explore the role of fragrance in my life.

I have those same loving feelings towards Coco mademoiselle as it was my first "serious " fragrance which I bought for myself ! I had intended to buy No°5 at the time, but I took a sniff of Coco mademoiselle and knew I had found THE ONE, my signature. My husband just gifted me the enormous 3.4oz bottle for my birthday along with the body lotion and body deodorant spray! Of course I was beyond elated! Then I gifted myself a bottle of No°5 which always has a place in my heart ♥. I have never smelled No°19 and have always wanted to. This has been such an informative video😊and I enjoyed it so much that I watched it twice. I love fragrances and have quite a collection. But like you I still fondly recall my first fragrance - Chanel Cristalle ❤️I worked in the cosmetics’ section of a department store in Toronto, Canada in my late teens and I saved to buy my first bottle of Cristalle. A few years later (40 years to be exact 😳) and I repurchased Cristalle as my summer fragrance this year. It brought back lovely memories😍

Honestly my favorite Chanel perfume is the Chanel 5 eau de premiere which is basically a lighter version of the original Chanel 5, but it makes me feel confident and elegant.

I've been using Coco Mademoiselle(eau de toilette) since I was 17, I also was given eau de parfum version as a gift and I think it's more of a mature woman scent. It's heavier but it lasts longer

Chance was my first Chanel purchase (and love), too! At age 19, I had been living in Africa for 4 months, and my mom met me in Paris on my way back to the States. Chance had just been released, and I instantly fell in love. We got to spend 2 weeks there, so I tie those memories tightly to Chance ❤️

Every time I go to my Nordstrom store I can be hours just wondering around the cosmetic area and smelling perfumes. I just purchased my limited edition of Red bottle of Chanel L'eau. Just lovely!

That was a lovely, informative video on a brand that is of course, legendary. I love how you separated the brands and included a personal story of why one is your favorite. While Chanel does make fragrances for men I think its mostly known as a brand of women's perfumes. I did like Egoiste for men in the late 80's early 90's. Great job Erin.

I've always loved the smell of Chanel perfumes, but I haven't always had the money to indulge in them. Years ago I was given the minatures of 5 perfumes, including No5 and No19, and although I still have 3 of the empty bottles, the scent has long faded. For my 50th birthday 4 years ago, I received a lovely large bottle of No5. Whenever there has been a special occasion I have worn it, but when I've been feeling down or simply wish to feel indulged or special I spray some and feel instantly better. Last Christmas I bought myself the box of "minature exclusifs" and out of those, so far, my favourites are Beige and Mimosa, but they are all Chanel and lovely perfumes anyway. I'm not really one for shopping instore so when I found this video I thought "Viola!", now I can learn a little more about the fragrances without having to stand instore. It was very informative and I appreciate you making it.

Coco Mademoiselle was gifted to me by my parents on my 17th birthday. My first Chanel item. It was right before i met my first love and he loved this scent on me. Sadly he broke up with me the same year and since then this perfume is reminding me of my broken heart and all the tears and the pain. It feels so strong and bad the minute i smell it, that i can't wear it anymore. Wich is very sad because i loved it so much. And i have tried to trick my brain but it did not worked. So after 9 years this beautiful bottle is still half full. I'm happily married now for 2 years but that doesn't change a thing. I still can't use it.
That's so sad, I'm sorry you were heartbroken. No man is worth missing out on a beautiful fragrance, especially if it was a gift from your parents... that's beautiful. But I totally understand how powerful our memories can be. Maybe you can try the new Mademoiselle Intense and make new memories with your husband :) xx

I’m a die hard woods girl so Chanel CoCo is me. And the Madamoiselle as well. They both wear well on me. I have bought and worn Chance Tendre and did like it at first and would pair it with Sage wood fragrance but when I wore it alone, it did not appeal to me at all. It’s too too flowery. Too much on my nose too. The woods like sitting by fireplace and smell of cigar calms me. That’s how I discovered that I’m a woodsy/ oriental with semi floral in some fragrances that have worked for me. Great review and informative! I need to try the Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I like deep warmth fragrances.
My first perfume was miss dior travel size but my first perfume that i wear everyday is chanel chance le tendre(i got it few days ago and I fell in love with it). My mom usually always wear coco mademoiselle and my dad was chanel blue for years. Next i think ill purchase the chanel le fraiche cause i really like it too

Mya de Marco Coco Mademoiselle is one of my absolute favorite perfumes and one I will always have in my collection. I just recently purchased Armaf Club de Nuit, and this is an incredible “dupe” of coco mademoiselle. The dry down is identical and the lasting power might even be better than the Chanel. It’s also about $30 for 100ml. I know that would have been more financially obtainable when I was 16, but I also understand wanting to save up for the brand name!

I watched one of your videos talk about Coco Noir I went to the store to try it and also fell in love with it and I just bought it last month !!! Yay 😁 I really love this video because it’s a guide for me to shop for my next Chanel fragrance and build my collection. Chanel no 5 is first on my list and I’m planning to buy it this month, I love the fact that it’s 99 years old and that makes it more exciting to be able to access to something so precious, but here it is my question, next year will be the year that it will actually be 100 years, 1st Century!!! Do you know if there will be any celebration 🎉 new design, limited edition etc? Well I’m delighted to get a bottle on the 99th year and looking forward for o buy any 100 Celebration for Chanel no 5. Number 5 EDP is the best fragrance ever, I never felt so classy in my life than when I first wore it, nieche fragrances that don't have 1% of No 5's legacy are £300 a bottle and they don't even compare to No 5!

N5, Coco, Chance the best, recently I bought Mademoiselle intense, it is without doubt very luxury, but still not sure if I like it enough, because it is very linear, no surprising notes and change while wearing it.
I love Chance Tendre. If I wanted a Chanel fragrance that's similar but a little stronger what would you recommend?
I literally love them all! Allure holds such a special place in my heart, it reminds me of one of the happiest periods of my life. I used to wear Chanel no. 19, no. 5 very briefly, Chance, Cristalle, too. Coco Mademoiselle for some reason didn't work for me, until I tried EDT which is just perfect for me, because I am not a patchouli fan. I tried Coco Noir which is an absolute stunner, but I get an instant headache the moment I smell it. 😩 Gabrielle has no staying power, but nevertheless I love it. Chanel no.5 L'Eau is an absolute perfection in a bottle. I just think it's amazing.

Hate Chanel No. 5, don't know what ALL the hype is about that fragrance. I used to wear either No. 22 and No. 19 and liked them, but, now they discontinued one of them. I wore Cristalle when I was in my early 20's. Really loved that the most of the Chanel fragrances. I used to work at a restaurant and would wear all my Chanel fragrances, along with one Dior fragrance and some others, but, you know what fragrance I got the MOST compliments on whenever I wore it???? It will surprise you!! Emeraude by Coty!!! Everyday, I would wear a different perfume to work and no one said anything about the other perfumes I wore, but, whenever I wore Emeraude, EVERYONE would ask me what I was wearing and that I smelled so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!! I've heard they changed the fragrance of Emeraude, along with Chanel and Dior. Sad that people have to try to fix what isn't broken.

Interesting Coco facts...I recently smelled Allure and it reminded me of a soft version of Coco which I’m not a fan of but did like the Allure...How does Coco Noir compare with Coco EDP? I do love the deep scents...31 Rue Cambon being one of my favorites. If the Noir is different enough from Coco then I may buy it some day. Thank you. :-)
I really love Allure! Allure Sensuelle is a wonderful fragrance as well but not as easy to smell in person since it’s only at the boutiques. I personally prefer the Coco Noir to Coco... but it’s slightly creamier and smoother than Coco. Coco has a very sharp floral/oriental scent. It’s also gorgeous! You really can’t go wrong between the two :) xx
I really tried to like Coco, but, it was just too sickeningly too overwhelming for me, so I couldn't jump on the Coco bandwagon.
I can never decide if I prefer Allure or Allure Sensuelle, they're both so decadent and voluptuous.

Now I know a little more about the fragrances :) I would say 95% of my collection is Chanel 😆 I’ve been lucky to get three of my fragrances directly from Paris 😊

My first high-end fragrance was Aqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani. I so understand what you’re talking about! It’s the feeling you never forget, getting your first special fragrance... I was a teenager, too:)) And to this day I think it’s one of the most beautiful fragrances in the world. They don’t make them like that anymore, at least GA doesn’t!
Chanel, however, has absolutely outstanding perfumes. I think, on the mass market, Chanel & Hermès make the best ones, hands down. What a coincidence:) Coco Noir is my favorite 😊 I only wear it, however, as an evening fragrance, or on special occasions. My current daily fragrance is Deauville, & I also love #18 (from Les Exclusifs line, they call it Haute Joaillerie - the fragrance of high jewelry), but I’m almost out of it. Chance fraiche used to be my summer time favorite, but this year it has been Deauville :)
They are all really great, all their perfumes... very exquisite, very deep & special... I remember how popular original Chance was. It was insane, they made a revolution with it.

I went to macys today and smell Chanel for the first time and the original reminded me of my grams. It was strong but then i went for the clear one and i fell in love with it.
