    Excited to see a gas W126 come to the channel. Beautiful car!

      Thank you! I am going to slowly start incorporating some gas models. But only the best because gas engines are definitely finicky compared to the diesels.

    Beautiful W126.
    I have the same car, 300SE, 1990, but with the brazilian brown interior.

    Original windshield and the radio theft stickers look brand new. Car must have been in a garage for a majority of its life. Great find

    Why would the headgasket have to be done with such low mileage? I have never heard of any 6 cylinder SE needing the HG replaced? Was it does only as a precautionary?

      Head gaskets on the inline 6 need to be changed. It was a problem with the factory gasket I think up until 1995. Mercedes corrected the issue and released an updated gasket. So anytime you run across an early 90s inline-6 Mercedes it's very important that you go ahead and have the head gasket done.

    Well... The 300SE is fine for driving around town. It's comfortable, for sure. It just lacks on the highway, where it's running at 2 billion rpm's. ;-)
    That example is an interesting color. Most are "Old-Man" gold or brown.

      Yeah the color is outstanding and very rare. Actually took it out on the highway in my test drive video and it drives great on the highway. Have you ever driven one? You should go on the website and watch the test drive video.

      @@woodsandbarclay Yes, I’ve driven my friends, which is a very nice example. It’s lovely in town, but I disliked it on the highway. I’ll actually have a chance to drive it again in September when I head up to Jersey (in my 500 SEC) for a little vacation time.

      I have a 1990 300SE with a 5spd (from Spain). Cruises on the Montana roads at 90 mph just fine. Maybe the US auto models are geared lower?

    Since Hong Kong isn’t a country, it doesn’t have embassies anywhere in the world. In 1991, Hong Kong was a colony of the UK. I’m sure the car’s provenance is correct, but you have the first owner’s employment wrong.

      Thanks for the update. I'm sure it was a UK embassy and she was from Hong Kong. I think the message got across.

      Haven't found a nice one yet. I will only bring cars back to the shop if they're in incredible condition.

      @@woodsandbarclay It's hard to find really nice 126's that are not on BAT. Most were driven quite hard by the 2nd, 3rd (or later) owners and pretty much driven into the ground. It took me a long search to find mine (bought from the original owner) and it had hidden nonsense that has cost me a pretty penny (some that was not found until I was rear-ended last year, necessitating a disassembly of the entire rear end).

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  Рік тому

      Also the ones that you see on BAT are not necessarily nice. Dealers who are very good with cameras can make an okay car look incredible on the Internet. Never trust those cars on BAT. They are unrestored 40 year old cars. Everything that you see me do to them in my videos is what needs to be done to those bring a trailer cars.
