They make the new mantras oaths whateverʻs new just super busted and overpoaered so that the players that know about it grind out a new build or refine their old one to abuse the new content. This makes the playerbase spike on Friday, then it dies out when people realize that the game didnʻt change until the next mantra comes out and the cycle repeats

I like the pvp part of it, but this isnt a pvp game anymore. its a "grind as much as you can for the best build then spend all day in chime" game. like seriously I have been fighting top 250s recently and ive realized they dont even mantra feint. what happened to mixups??
Not forgotten. They hooked the playerbase into staying through making us long for the old. Then afterwards, they took the addicting pvp and made that the focus so that everyone makes builds entirely focused around the pvp while simultaneously holding them hostage using the hope of old deepwoken coming back

The old way of Deepwoken was so much more mysterious and hardcore. Walking into Yun'Shul for the first time was a foreboding experience and you were scared of wiping. Now you just glitch into the chamber to shrine of order and glitch back out. Wiping used to be heart dropping. After hearing the bell sounding your demise you would spend a solid 10 minutes before actually wiping your character. The mystery and lore of the game fell off and now it's all about creating the most optimized build to do what?

I feel it's still it's own game, and still has a scary and foreboding atmosphere. Especially for newer players who haven't gotten to experience everything. The issue imo is that exploring as a newer player doesn't really yield much to look forward to, or is deincentivized heavily for new players. I, for one, probably wouldn't ever know Castle Light or the Ignition Deep base existed without the wiki due to the Depths usually being the one place you would want to avoid. Especially if you are still figuring out what you wanna do in the game. The only time I've really ever seen any incentive for players to explore the depths was from Sibex's dialogue, where he says the depths would be nice to get a resonance in. And even then, I could totally see players just ignoring him or not even finding him due to how he's just out randomly on some statue on hive, with no clues as to his existence or purpose beforehand. Though many people would probably be capable of finding him despite that, as he's on one of the two entrances to Hive, having more npcs or quests that involve going to the depths could incentivize players exploring on their own instead of spoiling the experience with outside sources just to figure out what you are supposed to do. And that's not even mentioning other pieces of content, such as the contractor oath, which you could only really begin to figure out about on your own if you went to get ministry reputation. And from what I know, there's only two npcs who let you do that to begin with, both of which being pretty out of the way in arbitrary locations that feature nothing else while asking you to complete a specific task that could take ages on account of relying on players being in a specific place. Even then, I don't know if anyone would logically try to talk to the Lord Regent after getting good ministry rep and defeating Duke since he usually just kills you and has no real indication of being associated with the ministry in specific until you talk with yun'shul after biting your tongue! Yes, he is hinted to be evil, but he could easily be a third party to all the nations of lumen and the ministry's plans. Maybe if other quests, like the Ministry Report quest revealed some other tidbits of lore, like revealing that the Prophet in Etris put a deadline on finding a worthy subject for the Trial of One, and he would likely pull some strings to promote such a subject to be a very high ranking military official for his takeover of the nation. Something like that would be subtle enough to not outright reveal the Lord Regent, but still be obvious enough to help players to the conclusion that he's at least related to the ministry and could offer something to those who ally themselves with them.
permadeath games lose the mystique with time however the THEME of the game stayed mysterious well into my 300th hour but the updates this year and last into 2023 just removed a lot of the mystery, difficulty, etc
Finally someone talks about how bad the mess chime players put us into, and also the god damn parry changes from verse 2. Ever since they changed parry, the game has felt so bad, it used to feel very rewarding to hit someone and hot a combo, now there are over 20 free true combos, that used to be impossible. Best "true combo" would have been 2 moves, and then get patched. That's why we can't M1+cast mantra movestack.
I can’t lie i quit deepwoken as they kept giving us players a middle finger i get they added diluvian and good quality of life updates but still they decided to add island events which makes astral basically impossible to manually grind and ontop of that made public servers laggy which effects everyone, new op mantras which made the older mantras needing buffs , ping compensation, & maestro loot being absolutely amazing which i guess it helps the average player get legendary weapons but it absolutely gutted every other way to get them, since verse 2 i felt the game getting worse over time

Agree with everything, apart from the part where you rambled about new mantras and stuff not being "content". I cant say for everyone, but I personally don't "Main" an attunement/weapon type (although I do have a favorite, gale). I use all attunements (apart from shadow) fairly equally so whenever we get a new mantra I can use it.
Remove the cringey, moody mods. Put conquest in the back with fire gun and add overworld content. Be creative and stop yoinking anime abilities and putting them in deep. Inspiration is fine but look to other genres/games as well not just mainstream anime. Add block frames after parry whiff back but make dodges remove block frames instantly. Tone down mantra damage scaling/pen and m1s If you want to make the game a sandbox build creator and pvp just make it so. You cant dip your toes in faster prog then create irrelevant world events that get overshadowed by the 2x progression making you leave the etrean luminant within an hour to go to hive or whatever
@@g2dded ^ i can consistently parry guard breaks on anything that isnt a dagger/fist but low elo demons whined until guard breaks were nerfed(i dont even use guard breaks btw) which inadvertently lead to them ruining the game further with less block frames instead of doing a more direct nerf to guard breaks specifically.

This isn't a story/exploration game anymore, lol. It's a build-making game. Btw the update isn't just Conquest. It's Verse 3. Think of Layer 2 and everything that dropped with it. Peep how everything they've been adding is simply another mantra/weapon to use for your build or something related to progression. They changed the vision a year ago, so idk why you're asking for this stuff now. Doubt it'll come back, considering even the testers don't like the old game, and it pulled a third of the current playerbase.
Just revert the parrying system to how the game was before... it was so much more skill-based and fun when you actually parry trade instead of run-around spam.

Genuinely the way to fix the game IN MY OPINION is to add events and stuff that encourage players to pvp as currently there are no reasons to pvp and it makes using builds boring theres no point in doing anything other than progressing at this point imo like the devs NEED to add something to encourage players to play endgame and make it fun like giving echos as well as legendary items to put on your character that you get from pvp. I once watched a video about devs listening to competitive pros to improve their game, it doesn't work because it only benefits them and not the majority of the player base or the idea is just terrible in general.
That rogue lineage point was wack man. They stole shinobi from Sekiro, Akuma and Oni are just street fighter characters and more than half of D rider's kit is just an Undertale reference. Rogue's creativity was all put into the world and how the classes fit in. Which Deep does too.

i have been playing consistently since release and never i have i ever seen deepwoken in a worse state than right now, i look at verse 1 clips with nostalgia looking at how the game turned out. Every single update ruins the game a little more with bs mantras that shouldnt even exist (perfmafrost prison) but the last updates were the worst yet like why tf would the developers change the core combat that everyones been used to for years, the game feels unplayable rn and ping compensation broke the rest of the combat that still worked

Yes, it puts builds that didn't use it at a disadvantage but said disadvantage is not so large since it removes spent talent points, meaning you lose out on stat point bonuses like FTD giving HP and the high invest talents are weaker when you have stat points below the original req. I find it to be way worse giving flamecharm, the close range slow and high damaging attunement multiple Mantras which entirely ignore said characteristics. Flame Balista is a long range Mantra which enables flying, Flaming Scourge is a large AoE which is very fast which are 2 characteristics that don't belong to flamecharm Frostdraw, the slow attunement had recently gotten rework to change the slow frostgrab into a ranged tp grab... Totally fits Frostdraw
1. The major changes nobody asked for where they tried changing pvp for no fucking reason and gutted basically any form of mobility and then the next week block frames got removed and guardbreaks got gutted. They said they wanted deepwoken to be a block, parry dodge based combat yet now its only parry based combat. 2.anti quality of life updates, walls, buffing maestro and making him harder every update for no reason, gale existing. 3.Overtuned balance changes where the best builds from the last 7 days get gutted beyond playability (alongside flame and shattered katana crit) so you have to remake the build or usually make completely new build. 4.As you said, using dagger with ping compensation means you can just swing thru your enemy m1s and stat check them, because having literal 0.5 second s where u can just hit them to cancel their damage while on 50 ping is well thought out.
How was the wall thing anti-quality of life? All it did was make the intended method of escaping actually worthwhile. And you can still climb them very easily. I've done it twice now after the update. Just air dash around the sides and boom, everyone's favorite Berlin Wall sim still functions
Off topic but I'd like to bring attention to the mod point system. Why do they need rewards for doing their fkn job? That only incentivizes them to just do whatever gets them points without getting caught.

4:35 Same with Type Soul, literally 3/4 skill trees are just true combo button spam because parry frames are so bad it's almost impossible to escape. The last style, Kido has the same issue on Quincy but on SR and Arrancar it doesn't have true combos (I think)
You know type soul's parry frames being so small is intended, right? It's literally just a number they can change in the code of the game. Also ur supposed to dodge more.
As far as the ping compensation thing, it needs to go. I have stopped playing the game because of it. Before it was added I used to get around 80-90 ping and was able to fight, now I go into my own region and get 150-250 ping and my frames are dead (it feels like I'm playing a slideshow).
im sorry to break it to you but ping compensation is not the cause for you going from 80 ping to 250 ping, it does not touch the actual ping that you get

Top chime should have no say as I know that most of them only got to top chime using unfair stuff and they will do anything to defend their build and try to keep it from getting gutted, when I got to top 250 the builds I was seeing were stupid and shouldnt even been in the game bruh
Hate the pvp, can't parry thing without getting punished anyway by some bullshit or not seing anything by the sheer number of effects on my screen, pve is going down the drain too with how unskilled an bad it is, the only thing they added that was "difficult" is dilluvian and yet, it's just a pack of anoying mob and attunements with lazy placed particles on them. There's probably 100 others reasons that the game is dying and why it is getting constantly disliked, the game is felling off.
i play on 120-220 ping ping compensation is the worst thing ever created, on my lower ping (120) the games perfectly playable and i can basically do anything anyone on a good wifi network could do while ping spiking 200-400 sucks ping compensation just doesnt work

I disagree that the game has devolved into current Shindo Life combat tbh. The effects arent THAT blinding whatsoever, especially compared to many other games on Roblox like Blox Fruits and Arcane Odyssey. And despite ping compensation bugs, i think the game is still quite skill and parry based. If you can parry a flame ballista, then they cant do anything to ya except run. Im not even very good, but i can see how it does take some skill to even pull off simple combos due to the unique way hitstun works.

The old way of Deepwoken was so much more mysterious and hardcore. Walking into Yun'Shul for the first time was a foreboding experience and you were scared of wiping. Now you just glitch into the chamber to shrine of order and glitch back out. Wiping used to be heart dropping. After hearing the bell sounding your demise you would spend a solid 10 minutes before actually wiping your character. The mystery and lore of the game fell off and now it's all about creating the most optimized build to do what?

I feel it's still it's own game, and still has a scary and foreboding atmosphere. Especially for newer players who haven't gotten to experience everything. The issue imo is that exploring as a newer player doesn't really yield much to look forward to, or is deincentivized heavily for new players. I, for one, probably wouldn't ever know Castle Light or the Ignition Deep base existed without the wiki due to the Depths usually being the one place you would want to avoid. Especially if you are still figuring out what you wanna do in the game. The only time I've really ever seen any incentive for players to explore the depths was from Sibex's dialogue, where he says the depths would be nice to get a resonance in. And even then, I could totally see players just ignoring him or not even finding him due to how he's just out randomly on some statue on hive, with no clues as to his existence or purpose beforehand. Though many people would probably be capable of finding him despite that, as he's on one of the two entrances to Hive, having more npcs or quests that involve going to the depths could incentivize players exploring on their own instead of spoiling the experience with outside sources just to figure out what you are supposed to do. And that's not even mentioning other pieces of content, such as the contractor oath, which you could only really begin to figure out about on your own if you went to get ministry reputation. And from what I know, there's only two npcs who let you do that to begin with, both of which being pretty out of the way in arbitrary locations that feature nothing else while asking you to complete a specific task that could take ages on account of relying on players being in a specific place. Even then, I don't know if anyone would logically try to talk to the Lord Regent after getting good ministry rep and defeating Duke since he usually just kills you and has no real indication of being associated with the ministry in specific until you talk with yun'shul after biting your tongue! Yes, he is hinted to be evil, but he could easily be a third party to all the nations of lumen and the ministry's plans. Maybe if other quests, like the Ministry Report quest revealed some other tidbits of lore, like revealing that the Prophet in Etris put a deadline on finding a worthy subject for the Trial of One, and he would likely pull some strings to promote such a subject to be a very high ranking military official for his takeover of the nation. Something like that would be subtle enough to not outright reveal the Lord Regent, but still be obvious enough to help players to the conclusion that he's at least related to the ministry and could offer something to those who ally themselves with them.

Ever since they changed parry, the game has felt so bad, it used to feel very rewarding to hit someone and hot a combo, now there are over 20 free true combos, that used to be impossible. Best "true combo" would have been 2 moves, and then get patched.
That's why we can't M1+cast mantra movestack.

I can’t lie i quit deepwoken as they kept giving us players a middle finger i get they added diluvian and good quality of life updates but still they decided to add island events which makes astral basically impossible to manually grind and ontop of that made public servers laggy which effects everyone, new op mantras which made the older mantras needing buffs , ping compensation, & maestro loot being absolutely amazing which i guess it helps the average player get legendary weapons but it absolutely gutted every other way to get them, since verse 2 i felt the game getting worse over time

Agree with everything, apart from the part where you rambled about new mantras and stuff not being "content". I cant say for everyone, but I personally don't "Main" an attunement/weapon type (although I do have a favorite, gale). I use all attunements (apart from shadow) fairly equally so whenever we get a new mantra I can use it.
Remove the cringey, moody mods. Put conquest in the back with fire gun and add overworld content. Be creative and stop yoinking anime abilities and putting them in deep. Inspiration is fine but look to other genres/games as well not just mainstream anime. Add block frames after parry whiff back but make dodges remove block frames instantly. Tone down mantra damage scaling/pen and m1s
If you want to make the game a sandbox build creator and pvp just make it so. You cant dip your toes in faster prog then create irrelevant world events that get overshadowed by the 2x progression making you leave the etrean luminant within an hour to go to hive or whatever

Genuinely the way to fix the game IN MY OPINION is to add events and stuff that encourage players to pvp as currently there are no reasons to pvp and it makes using builds boring theres no point in doing anything other than progressing at this point imo like the devs NEED to add something to encourage players to play endgame and make it fun like giving echos as well as legendary items to put on your character that you get from pvp. I once watched a video about devs listening to competitive pros to improve their game, it doesn't work because it only benefits them and not the majority of the player base or the idea is just terrible in general.
That rogue lineage point was wack man. They stole shinobi from Sekiro, Akuma and Oni are just street fighter characters and more than half of D rider's kit is just an Undertale reference. Rogue's creativity was all put into the world and how the classes fit in. Which Deep does too.

Yes, it puts builds that didn't use it at a disadvantage but said disadvantage is not so large since it removes spent talent points, meaning you lose out on stat point bonuses like FTD giving HP and the high invest talents are weaker when you have stat points below the original req.
I find it to be way worse giving flamecharm, the close range slow and high damaging attunement multiple Mantras which entirely ignore said characteristics. Flame Balista is a long range Mantra which enables flying, Flaming Scourge is a large AoE which is very fast which are 2 characteristics that don't belong to flamecharm
Frostdraw, the slow attunement had recently gotten rework to change the slow frostgrab into a ranged tp grab... Totally fits Frostdraw

The major changes nobody asked for where they tried changing pvp for no fucking reason and gutted basically any form of mobility and then the next week block frames got removed and guardbreaks got gutted. They said they wanted deepwoken to be a block, parry dodge based combat yet now its only parry based combat.
2.anti quality of life updates, walls, buffing maestro and making him harder every update for no reason, gale existing.
3.Overtuned balance changes where the best builds from the last 7 days get gutted beyond playability (alongside flame and shattered katana crit) so you have to remake the build or usually make completely new build.
4.As you said, using dagger with ping compensation means you can just swing thru your enemy m1s and stat check them, because having literal 0.5 second s where u can just hit them to cancel their damage while on 50 ping is well thought out.
How was the wall thing anti-quality of life? All it did was make the intended method of escaping actually worthwhile. And you can still climb them very easily. I've done it twice now after the update. Just air dash around the sides and boom, everyone's favorite Berlin Wall sim still functions

As far as the ping compensation thing, it needs to go. I have stopped playing the game because of it. Before it was added I used to get around 80-90 ping and was able to fight, now I go into my own region and get 150-250 ping and my frames are dead (it feels like I'm playing a slideshow).
im sorry to break it to you but ping compensation is not the cause for you going from 80 ping to 250 ping, it does not touch the actual ping that you get

The most iconic monster is almost directly lifted from bloodborne, 2/3rds of the bells reference other media as well as half of the enchantments in the game. there is absolutely nothing wrong with this and it almost sounds like filler to pad your exactly 8 minute list of grievances about deepwoken. theres so much referenced content in deepwoken and its infinitesimally unlikely that deep is going to turn into some flashy button mashing simulator akin to shindo life or blox fruits

I disagree that the game has devolved into current Shindo Life combat tbh. The effects arent THAT blinding whatsoever, especially compared to many other games on Roblox like Blox Fruits and Arcane Odyssey. And despite ping compensation bugs, i think the game is still quite skill and parry based. If you can parry a flame ballista, then they cant do anything to ya except run. Im not even very good, but i can see how it does take some skill to even pull off simple combos due to the unique way hitstun works.
