Jilly you have got this. I can totally get what you're saying. I get anxious but once you learn to stand up and fall off and realise that you won't actually drowned is the moment you will be free of that anxiety that holds you back. Keep going girl. Good job jill. When steve taught me to surf i was well anxious. Love it now. He is a canny good lad ypur steve. Good teacher. Them donys are on my munch list for next summers holiday. Canny scran. 🍩

Them foam boards catch ripples. I ordered one from 10 over, the one steve recommend. Love it. Also never knew that about the leash string. My one is long, so going to shorten that now haha.

Hey ..best spot around Newquay for beginners 🙏 and how to understand surf forecasts 😅
Hey, thanks for the comment. Best spot for beginners is Rowan beach between the black and white flags. It's a nice flat beach, no rocks. Worst time to surf is low tide as the whole bay has waves that just crash down known as close outs. It's where the wave does not peal, it just crashes down into shallow water. Easiest way to read the surf forecast is to know the best time to surf the beach of your choice. So if it was Great Weston then you could say 2-3 hours after the high tide. The waves pulling back but it tends to create clean ridable lefts. So now I know that, by speaking to locals and finding out. I can go to absurd app. Look at the wave size. If it says 2ft then that should mean there is a wave to learn on. Next check the wind. If the wind is over 10mph plus and blowing onto the shore then that 2ft wave will be no good, the wind will destroy it. It's best to look for a 2-3ft day, ideally with an offshore, slightly cross shore wind that's no more than 15mph. The only way is to get a surf app life sutfline and look at the wind direction, swell direction and wind speed and wave hight. It is also worth looking at secondary swell. If the secondary swell is bigger than the 2-3ft main swell then that can lead to unpredictable larger waves.
But there are many videos by sutfline on UA-cam. 🤙
