In regards to the QR code seen at the 1:59 mark: this QR code leads to a website whose domain name has expired, and was initially registered for free through a now defunct registrar. On that website you'd encounter a typical 403 server error message with one particular thing being different: a Pi symbol can be found at the bottom of the error text. Clicking on it would take you to a list of files where you'd have to solve a fairly basic puzzle and reveal a bit of lore inside the 7zip archive. I've made a copy of the site for those who are curious: vladislavzh.net/archive/xera.cf/ This ARG was created as sort of a plug just in case this video would blow up so I could expand it and build lore around it. It is now discontinued. The solution for it is deep down in the comments section.
The way he gunned it down was with the confidence of "oh hey, another one of these freaks. Glad I upgraded to a Desert Eagle last week." and plugged it with .50AE.
I like how when he pulled the gun, it wasn't treated as a "misunderstanding" when he shoot the entity Like he could've just pulled out the gun, shot the thing, nothing happens and then he dies and the camera man runs away starting the "horror" Instead, he shoots the thing and the gun actually acts useful in the situation and the dude just carry on casually like another day on the job
@removethatpfp usubhhumanssackoffshiitbbittcchh says the dude who has nothing better to do in life than to go around in UA-cam comment section and harass people for their pfp
Oh my god you actually got your hands on motion capture ! Also can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that this video begins exactly where that legendary backroom photo was taken? So detailed, dude
I love the trivialization of the "scariness" of the Backrooms. There's nothing inherently scary about the concept at all, other than the fear of the unknown. Good job on showing how mundane and boring it all really is :)
i'm surprised nobody is talking about the ending. I was hopefully someone would have a more indepth explanation lol. Like it was them at 1:09 making the decision where to go, but 1:09 didn't see 4:05. I think the horror is they are trapped in a infinite timeloop, but can't say that for sure since 4:05 ended with a cliffhanger or maybe the area they are in are either making them hallucinate or see themselves. 4:05 was my favorite part in the video tho, like just the tone in his voice, never encountering something like that until now, shock and terrified. Edit: After reviewing the ending more 1:09 camera man at 4:05 lowered his camera, so did they see each other? o_o
The Backrooms have points in which time is not linear and tends to overlap itself like a mobius strip. You can eventualy go away because you can encounter points that send you in the future or past. The backroom itself is a singularity in spacetime in which reality is progressively collapsing generating a new universe.
very well made, and feels like i missed things when watching it. i encourage anyone watching this video to watch it through multiple times. i think in certain parts where it skips or does a gltich maybe something happened to them

Holy smokes that was great. While watching I was suspicious you used motion capture for your stuff finally - then read the description and got confirmation I was right. I'm sure it will open up new storytelling opportunities for you! It's a really neat video. I dig it. Did you use ipi Soft? 🤓
Thanks! For mocap I used Perception Neuron 2, which is an older model, but still very precise. There are of course certain limitations and it requires some preparation, but it is a lot better than iPi Soft. Plus having a wireless motion capture suit allows me to freely move around and not worry about leaving the recording volume. That's why I could walk as far as 15 meters. It's really awesome.
Man, this looks outright professional quality. I'm astounded because of how great this looks. If this was your first time doing this, I can't imagine what will come out later. Everything in your video looks great. Awesome job.

@@VladislavZharkov Good point; Maybe the "modern" equivalent could be to either have the video be lower resolution (like that short bit of security footage), or ad some additional compression artifacts. Just other ways to "dirty" the video in a convincing way to hide the 3D aspect.
Holy shit I did not expect to be nostalgically jump scared by Moby! I love Moby's Play album!... Edit: Errr uh, that sample I mean. Didn't know the origins of that sample till now. You learn something new everyday.
Oh yeah, I love "Play". I came up with this bit after watching the Pitfalls episode of Kane Pixels' series and hearing those yells that kind of reminded me of the "Find My Baby" sample. But instead of using Moby's song as a joke, I chose to use the one he actually sampled and insert this tiny bit of trivia into the gag as well.

Thank you! I rented a dance room to test out mocap in big volumes, hence the distance I could walk freely without stitching multiple animations. However, first and second shots are made of pairs of animations that I stitch together when the camera's looking at something else. That is why it appears so seamless. Also, the shot with the Bacteria creature is also made through merging two animations: the shooting part was later mocapped at home, while the arrival part still comes from the dance room mocap session.
First I used Futzbox, with Glass Cup sim, 200 Hz 24 dB high pass filter, 18000 Hz 24 dB low pass filter, and 10% soft distortion. Then I applied two more low pass filters, to get the sound more muffled and a bit resonant, but still audible in a way like it's being amplified.
They time traveled back to the past. Since the Backrooms is quite unstable, accidentally time traveling is common. Since it's the same universe as Kane Pixels', I'm going to say Kane released a video a while back about a researcher time travelling to 3 months in the future. So time travel is possible. These are scream recordings and horror elements from Aversion Expansion pack by AVA Music Group. I just did a tiny bit of processing on them to tone down the distortions so it doesn't conflict with all the reverb going on.
Eventually, yeah, I'll probably make something with such vibes. As for the music I like, it's hard to tell. I just listen to things that sound nice. My playlist is an incoherent mess, lol.
