This makes me so, so home sick. I love 7 mile beach. Oh Lordy I love Jamaica. I go every February for 2 months. Wishing my days away waiting for February 2020.
“Ganja? You need ganja?” (The Zombies being. You have two guys following you then-from the side...) “how about hash? Do you want hash (it’s not really hash, it’s resin from the residue of used pipes)?” You politely say no multiple times because you don’t really want that low-grade, sticks and stems and seedy moldy weed pulled out of some dudes pocket who hasn’t showered in a week. “Taxi...come with me I get you taxi.” No thanks I have a ride. “But you can count on me for taxi, besides, I take you to waterfall.” I don’t want to go to waterfall thanks. “Can I have some money for a red stripe?” No, clearly you shouldn’t be drinking. Your backpack gets felt up everywhere you go. You look behind you...a literal mob following you because you are a tourist. You literally run, some of them give up, some of them job...you hop into a red plated cab and go to the sanctuary of your resort. You never leave the resort again. You never to go Jamaica again. This is the story of too many. Zombie land.
Been to JA over 10 times and sure occasionally there's people on the beach trying to sell things, but you say no if you are not interested and you go on with what you want to do or were doing. Jamaica is a wonderful place with lots of amazing people and of course full of culture. Those who understand it love the fusion. Sorry that was your experience.
