This is seriously the most helpful video on adjusting the clutch. I've watched like 10 and all the videos just say adjust here x and also move y but do not take the next step in showing what to do exactly. thank you sir!
Do you have. Video of how to remove and replace the front wheel back after a tire change? Together with proper torque. Thank you! I bought a 2008 Honda cbr 600rr
THANK YOU JUAN TALLY. THIS HELPS A LOT. BEST UTUBE CHANNEL OUT THERE WHEN IT COMES TO MOTORCYCLES. ESPECIALLY FOR DO IT YOURSELF KIND OF GUYS LIKE MYSELF SAVES US LOTS OF $$.
Glade I found this video because I just ordered a new clutch cable for my 07 cbr600rr and should be coming in this week. would be nice if there was a "How to replace clutch cable video" other than that Keep up the good work, I watch all your videos on the Honda Cbr !
got a 2001 Honda cbr f4i 600 clutch working perfect and changed lever now no clutch. ran it all the way up and down no luck. i pushed bottom lever with finger till tight and tighten nuts and got good on top but put in first and try to roll and u can tell it still engaged. put in natural and apply brake and when I try to put in fist it clunks and dies. never had so much trouble. even bought a new cable thinking old one might have stretch. would like to know what im doing wrong thanks
even took channel locks and pushed lever on engine to engage all the way and set clutch adjust same so when I let off clutch it stay the same so seem to be at max to engage unless there has to a lot free play
How do i know that Its time to adjust the clutch? The bike is now creeping foward with the clutch lever fully pressed. Is it time for an adjustment? When i press the lever there is a large zone where it depresses with no resistance and then finally starts to resist until its fully depressed
Definitely time for an adjustment. There should be an adjustment at the lever and at the clutch. Tighten it up! When you pull that lever, the clutch should not engage at all.
If I have all the clutch plates replaced on my cbr954rr, how long should they last? I had it done at a shop about two months ago, and I’ve only ridden it for about a month or five weeks. Now I have to choke up on the adjustment screw so there’s no threads left. Is that normal???
I have a 2012 honda cbr 600rr and everytime I shift gears my bike jerks forward as soon as the clutch is let go of unless I release it really slowly.. could this be why?
Hi John, I removed the clutch cable to lube and when reinstalling , just could not get it right like the service manual tells to. Bike is a Kawasaki Z800 , which Kawasaki in their infinite wisdom wants a 60' angle at the release lever to the clutch cable angle. Does the angle really matter that much if the freeplay is perfect .. Asking since when you adjusted here, you didnt seem to worry about the angle of the lever ( lever on the clutch cover )
Super instructive video! Only thing I would like to ask is, after adjusting it exactly this way, should there be any free play even minimal at the clutch case side? I set the free play on my Yamaha R1 and i noticed that on the right side (clutch case) there is no free play to the clutch arm. I assume since it is adjusted property down and at the clutch perch should be ok anyway? Thanks, Chris.
put a new clutch cable on my 600RR thinking the cable was stretched cause i was starting to notice slack in the cable and adjusting wouldn't help. I put the new cable on and it didn't help the problem. someone told me maybe my clutch is worn out but I haven't noticed any clutch slippage. after looking at illustrations I'm wondering if maybe the bearing for the clutch pull pin is worn out...
Hi John. You being a clutch expert, maybe can take me out of my misery trying to understand, why some clutchs has various types of friction disk? and some not? and what is the differente between the disk and the consecuences of using the same disk on the entire basket? I have a Yamaha FZ6, and it has 7 friction disk 1 type and 2 different type of disk on both ends of the clutch basket, why are those different? I ask because after i rebuild my clutch, i realized seeing this video and checking my bike manual, that i made a mistake and put 9 friction disk of the same type on my bike... it works, but its dragging at little at engagement, so i dont know if that is the reason. Thank you.
Is it true that the clutch fork thats on the motor (the shaft with the spring on it) should be 90 degrees to the motor? Mine is more arpund 75 or 80. And I have about a 1/4 inch of free play between the the end of the adjuster and the where.the cable goes into the lever. Is this right? The bike doesn't creep forward and disengages fully.
Do pull the cable down at the clutch cover all the way forward then tighten it? Wouldn't that be disengaging the clutch without pulling the lever in? Or do you pull the cable back then tighten it I am confused.
Yeah but what if you want to adjust your friction point? Mine was right at the end of release which is annoying to me. Ive adjusted it now it engages mid release but theres alot of play once released now. Is this okay? As long as it fully releases.
I've replaced my clutch plates and now the clutch doesn't disengage at all, would anyone help me out here please. BTW from what I see there is no more cable left to loosen up.... Even when I disengage the cable it is still not spining the wheel. I must have done something wrong.
So I have a problem? If anyone could help that would be amazing. I have a 2007 cbr 600rr and the clutch is harder to pull in now it use to be easy an it started that yesterday after I tried to do a burnout when I put in gear I go to floor it and it goes really slow i put it in 2nd an it does the exact same thing like it has no power smh can anyone help man im so stressed right now
I bought a brand new cable and both adjustments by lever and clutch cover are maxed out. My friction zone is still right at the grip almost. Will a new clutch fix this or do I need a new basket? I also have a new aftermarket ez pull lever.
91TwinTurboZX I think these levers are causing an issue, I have one from impaktech and am finding it impossible to get my clutch adjusted properly. I even got a new clutch kit and cable.. still having issues.
NKGINHD think the basket have anything to do with it? I had short levers before and it was better but still almost fully adjusted to disengage the clutch
91TwinTurboZX it’s a possibility but when I had my clutch open to change the plates and springs I felt my basket as instructed in his replacement video and it felt fine.. so I’m not sure. I’m going to have no choice but to take it to a shop I think.
My bike slips at high rpms from first to second there's play in my clutch but when fully pulled it it stops and shifts ok at lower rpms do you think it needs an ajustment
@@PartzillaParts it only slips going through neutral every other year is fine smooth and quite it also only slips at really high rpms or when I'm at a high mph like if I'm at 40 and go from 1 to second or back down it will do that
@@chasemcclary8861 Yes. You can usually ride like that until the end of time. A few track days or clutchless shifting 1-2 will kill it though. Don't worry about it, ride on.
Any recommendations on an 08 600rr that shifting gears requires 2-3 times the amount of normal pressure than other bikes? 9k miles track bike, just very difficult to shift and find neutral
No. You can set your clutch pull however it makes you comfortable. Ideally, you don't want any free play in the lever. As long as the clutch fully disengages when you pull it in, the rest is personal preference.
awesome thank you. there is a little bit of free play when i pull it before the clutch starts to disengage, but i'm using adjustable aftermarket levers so I assume thats why
You guys usually have the very best videos, but the angle of you adjusting the clutch up top. It's black on black on black with your fingers in the way we can't see.
I’ve got a full new clutch kit and new clutch cable and still can’t get my clutch adjusted properly after watching this and basically every other video on UA-cam lol.
Most of these videos are great but this one did not explain 💩 to me.... Mainly my starting point at the course adjustment profile before making my fine adjustment at the Clutch lever for a new clutch cable..
I put my bike on maintenance stand and when put into first gear rear wheel start rotating when clutch is full pulled. Is it bad sign of my clutch plates. Is there way to identify bad clutch plates without dissembling (Honda Honet 250). And I have good slack upto standard rangeThanks
If you have bad plates, you'll have slippage. It's normal for the wheel to spin a little when you pull in the clutch on the stand. If you put your hand on it, does it stop or do you have to force it to stop with some real pressure?
Glad I watched this… changed my clutch cable and left both 12 and 14mm nuts on the same side🤦♂️ brew time and go sort it out
LOL been there done that brotha
I think this channel has the best and easiest to understand videos for my year CBR. Thanks John!
I'm own an 06 but this guy has taught me how to do quite a few things on my bike. Thanks Partzilla! ;D

Great video. My cbr is having trouble disengaging the clutch in 2nd. i'm going to try your method..
Thanks John. I was changing my clutch lever and got my clutch WAY out of adjustment. Your video helped me get back on the road.

Yes I did, Thanks for asking. It was kind of hard at some points, I thought I was going to break the cable but I got it done!
I bet you now think it was easy as fuck
When to adjust the clutch cable. Hot or cold?
No matter what i do my clutch slips in high rpms gsxr only has 1k miles put new clutch lever on it. Cant fine tune it
@dhilip_cs there 3 adjustment. The lever, bottom of clutch cable off clutch case and internally for 2011-25 gsxr 600/750 i got it running good now

Same cable even used old one.took cover off and lift pin good. It's like clutch froze up but was working before and all I did was change lever
best viedo to explain both sides of clutch adjustment.. Thanks

If there is no adjustment at the lid, does it mean that the clutch discs need to be replaced?

You don't push it forward to disengage, you are just pushing forward to eliminate slack.

Yes, though too much play is annoying, as long as it fully releases, you're fine.
how do you fix a 02 r6 from stalling when put in first gear kick stand switch is bypassed and same with clutch switch
Could this be part of the reason why my 2002 yzf r6 slips a little when I reach the power-band? Thanks.
It could be. Is that the only time it slips? Adjust your cable and see if it helps. If it doesn't, you may need to service your clutch.

great video, thank you... those glasses though... what are they?
Those are for my aging eyes. They aren't a shop tool. They are pretty convenient, break away style prescription glasses.
those are cool. my eyeballs are bad as well. i have never seen glasses like that
Amazon. A company called Clic makes them. Pretty handy.
Awesome informative, concise video! Just what I was looking for... Hopefully this helps with the issue i was / still am having...
Thanks for watching, Kikyo! Glad we could help. See you around the tube!

Can you provide a clue to find Honda honet db250f6 garage manual. Thanks
We only carry US model manuals.
Ah ok...Thanks for your quick respond :)

No. You can set your clutch pull however it makes you comfortable. Ideally, you don't want any free play in the lever. As long as the clutch fully disengages when you pull it in, the rest is personal preference.
