Love the insights in this video - for different textures. Also love the insight on the difference between screen used and pops for detailed visual inspection - can confirm they did use bed liner for the texture in the films. Great work!
Getting ready to paint my mk4 qpack and first wanted to thank Nick for the videos. My ninjatunes board should be here soon and now just getting into painting. Wanted to add Walmart has the rugged black for 11 something just got 2 cans yesterday. For anyone looking they were the cheapest where I'm from for it also.
If you wanted to retouch up some parts with truck bed liner. How would you do that with the rugged truck bed liner. If you didn’t want blue tape all the spots. Then adding satin how would you do that??
Awesome vid, didnt think about the hammer paint. Got a resin wand which i converted mostly everything into aluminum except the main gun body. My question to you is can you spray over hammer paint without losing the effect. My idea is to use hammer base+paint silver then go over it with satin black
Yeah, it should maintain it's detail with a layer of silver and satin. I would practice a little first because you can control the texture with how thick you lay it on
@@fuzzjunk7 That is correct. Heavy sanding, then filler primer, then hammered, then truck bed liner....then cover everything with black satin to finish it. Try to stay within the same brand of paints. Practice with the bed liner before you do it for real. Short bursts.

When I was working on my Dalek parts, I discovered that, after a few coats, the Rustoleum rubberized undercoat gave a nice subtle texture, too.
You do black satin on top of liner and the hammer parts?
Yes. After it's masked off and the different textures are applied, the while pack is covered in black satin
Thank you for making this video
@@DanielRamirez-os2we You're very welcome!
Now you’ve got me thinking about repainting the Mack’s shell if/when it ever comes. I wasn’t going to. Depends on what it looks like in person.
Oh, this is Steve from WIGB, btw…
I recognized you lol

This is great, thanks for sharing! Quick question, I’m assuming you primed, then did the hammered paint, then texture then top coat over everything?
