- Hey 9-1-1, You Lose a Radio? Hello? Man Turns in Emergency Fire Radio Found at Dempster St and Busse Rd, Mount Prospect
www.arlingtonca... ... IN NO WAY is this video attempting to ridicule the man who attempted to return the radio to public officials.
Bless his heart..he was trying the best he could to get the radio returned despite the language barrier.
When 42,000 people see your exact address.
Conor Chapman oh god xD
Lol
it's burned in my head...
Keep hearing him repeat his address after being asked to spell it...
It looks like an apparent complex, you'll need to knock on a few doors.
82,310*
Stop slaggin the guy for his accent. At least he had the wherewithal to report the lost radio. A good citizen if you ask me.
I still give this citizen props. he did the right thing. even though it was funny
"Drop it off at the station? Nah, I'm going to work now. You come to me." Now that's a man of character. Wherever he go for working, he should get a raise.
Legend has it that he is still on the radio wondering when they are coming to get it. It ok?
XD
Nice guy to try and return it... Yet people ripping on him and the dispatcher. So pathetic.
Jeffrey Layman Well, you said it... pathetic..that's exactly what their lives are...just pathetic, so they come on the internet to feel like they're worth something by ripping into people they'll never say anything to face to face.
man auto great assessment. They are typical keyboard warrior, tough guy types. Courage via anonymity
Hahaha I bet the guy who dropped it got hazed so bad for weeks
I can't believe there's all this shit talking! This man moved to our country and is trying to learn our language. He did the right thing.
Frogman Smith wtf are you trying to say?
Good God, you're ignorant.
lol, don't you have to work?
A squished grape lol, this is entertaining now.
A squished grape shouldn't you be working? I know I do unlike a lot of the lazy people who want to live off the government.
He gives his address with the same inflection, the exact same way every time. That is literally the only way he's learned how to describe where he lives.
I found a police portable that a cop had left on his fender when he left. I called the NON EMERGENCY number to report it. they didn't believe me. so I went outside and keyed the Mic . when I was asked to identify myself, I just said that I was the guy that phoned. shift supervisor hurried to pick it up, because it was his.
i am sure he did
I found a box of 9mm out side a British police station and got told they were useless without a gun!
the CIA's book of dirty tricks describes how to use them to make a mine!
Mate if you found any ammunition outside of any police station in England, Firearms officers would be on that before you would. I highly doubt that you would be allowed to just pick them up and go on your merry way fella. You’re full of some interesting lies 😂
I'm
One costly radio I commend the person for wanting the radio to be turned over to the Fire Dept.
Ironic.. The guy has the heart of a typical fireman. All my buddies who are firemen and the ones I've met in my 37 years have the heart of a child. There's a lot of innocence in them despite the tragic things they see and deal with... God bless them. There's no other profession that i respect the most in this world. I'm
good guy, this citicen - taking so much time and effort to return something that belongs to the fire department :)
That’s not how you are supposed to return it... that radio is for emergency transmission, someone could have been dying at that moment.
TylerDoyles what to make fun of and propose an absurd hypothetical situation about a person trying to do good. Your arrogance is showing
Thomas Steffien and a
"Citizen"
How do you know that guy was a legal citizen?
Interesting vid, however, I think it's semi-unreasonable to expose his address and town, and even to go there and film it. So maybe don't show the place and instead show the FD/PD and censor the address.
Well, the citizen's English is better than the dispatcher's Spanish...
At 3:11 the citizen is saying Si which is yes in Spanish if you wanna add a annotation..
+Little Jimmy Gracias' amigo por la informacion.
Yeah, I was thinking Spanish or Italian could be his native language. I thought that because of how my Grandfather sounds XD.
I am glad the guy took the time to turn it in. He could have sold it to a criminal that could have used it for no good against police, fire, or ems as most radios are programed with all channels. No matter what anyone says, to make fun, the guy did the right thing as it really was not his problem. Not to mention, the guy has a job for the love of god, he was GOING TO WORK. There are some neighborhoods that almost no one goes to work and the radio would have almost surely been used for no good.
Anyone could buy a police scanner on ebay
I love the ending fire dept prob thinking shit which balcony lool also dispatch if his console supports it could remote lock or disable radio
He clearly said M-A-N-S-A-R-D about 4 times.... They need better dispatchers...
BRUH its not easy to tell a street name from a voice especially with a language barrier and a strong accent. especially with precise spelling and everything.
This is awesome, really amazing guy for him to go out of his way to figure out who it belonged to and try and return it. He deserves a reward, its quite brave that he did that, especially considering he wasnt fluent in English
As for the dispatcher, you really should know the area your working in, street names, and just as much I have a hard time believing that no one in the dispatch center spoke spanish, Its a 911 center, there has to be someone who could have translated
Let'S Make Change why would a person in Iowa need to know Spanish? Try going to rural Mexico and see if anyone knows English.
Let'S Make Change Let'S Make Change 9-1-1 centers usually have access to on-demand interpreters for dozens of languages via the phone (service is called Language Line). But the service is designed for telephone use...It really isn't conducive to half-duplex modes like radio. Having even basic skills speaking other languages can be a tremendous asset to a dispatcher-indeed, to the 9-1-1 center itself...And by extension, the community at large.
And yes, I too felt that the dispatcher's area knowledge sounded a bit weak.
Gamebreaker08 a 9-1-1 dispatch center needs to have the ability to translate any language...otherwise people would in some cases be unable to request help...so yes...someone in the dispatch center needs to speak a different language...because apprently in your mind everyone in every state only speaks english, which is pretty basic common sense that no not everyone speaks english
Recneps thank you for the info, I always knew they had a way of translation...because of course not everyone communicating with 9-1-1 will speak English, but thats a good point it being over the radio rather than a phone call
@@Gamebreaker08 Erm bad example. I think you will find most people in Mexico, even in rural areas, know English to varying extents. I mean the Mexican government recognizes something like 70 languages because of all the dialects, and Americans piss and moan that .gov offers documents in a handful of languages that aren't English?
This must have been the first day for this dispatcher...to not know "jack" about his streets and surrounding area, not to mention how lost he seems to be talking to an honest citizen trying to get equipment back to its rightful owner. The caller said he had to go to work and he would leave it at his house so the responding unit could pick it up. How hard can that really be??
West Monterrey doesn't come up on Google Maps but West Martin Lane does come up. Busse and Dempster is right between the two locations also.
Dan Coco, I hang my head in shame. I myself work with dispatchers as well as respond to 'addresses' too. Never in a million years did I ever think of looking it up myself. However, there could have been "some" location this equipment could have been dropped off at or picked up from without having put this poor guy through all this.
Though if we didnt have the subtitles to know west mansard lane, how hard would it be to find?
One good thing about the old red box on the corner. Never had a language barrier.
4:05 "ok, we're back to business... GOD DAMN IT!"
Monday morning quarterback the guy had a 6000 dollar radio and we don't want the wrong hands to get a hold of it. And you are mocking him. He don't kwow better.
Jim Bob You've obviois never seen the prices on the lastest motorola P25 radios like the APX series, outdated old dumbass.
The older Motorola crystal controlled commercial radios used by the fire/police like the HT, MT, MX were quite expensive as well. At least $1,200.00 or more per unit. I've read the MX-300 was nearly $2,000.00
*doesnt
The radio wouldn't be anywhere near $6k... Because there's so many new companies building Public Service radios now (It used to be just Motorola & E F Johnson..) portable radios that used to cost $900 are about $250, and multi-channel P25 radios seldom go for more than $1200 - $1500
None of you obviously have a clue what you are talking about. the newest Motorola HTs do cost upwards of $6K, the APX series is still being manufactured and sold to this day and still retails for well over $3K new barebones.
NO ONE uses crystal controlled radios for public safety or commercial business in the US. Only hobbyists and even then it's rare.
The radios used by police and fire crews are not your toy Chinafeng ham radio crap either. They cost big $$$$ and when they loose one they have to pay for it to be replaced and if its a digital radio they have to send a kill command to it to lock it up and render it useless..
Now in this video published in 2015 they are not using a digital modulation system like P25, they are not even on a trunking system. The MDC1200 ANI gives that away. MDC is not available in trunking mode nor on digital formats, only analog. With that said they could still be using something like an HT1250 or 1550 which will do the required narrowband, and the cost there is literally $500 to replace it if even that.. Since they no longer manufacture them and are still selling off NOS
Sounds like someone’s buying ICE CREAM!!!
Why was his address not bleeped out? You even showed photos of his home.
Once i lost mine one too in a fire call. Lost forever.
It’s not lost forever. It’s probably yours. It’s on the balcony at 1719 West Mansard Lane. 😂
I luv this he just wants to keep it & makes sure if he can. if not he just wants to know how to get it back to them... I luv it. the best part i will give it back....but yall will have to look where i leave it i have to get to work. Hahaha. Priceless.
I couldn't help but laugh! Good man for him trying to communicate using very broken English! If he was a crook he could have sold it underground to a really evil person such as a terrorist.
I surprised there isn't a "Property of" sticker on the radio.
Tom Z there probably is
Tom Z there probably is
It took a minute but hey I love this guy. He did a great job. 👏👍
Now his address is exposed 🤦🏽♂️
Seems like he was trying to do the right thing ! Good man !
Some years ago a co-worker found a Motorola HT-90 in a phone booth, showed it to me. I opened it up checked the frequency tag and for other I.D. it was programmed for a duplex business services radios. Said to my co-worker "Give Motorola a call, ask them to check who is leasing or bought this one" The messanger service came right to our office, very grateful to get their radio back, was a $900.00 HT.
i found a com ed meter reader scanner thingy and they acted like they didnt care. i left it at the post office and told them to pick it up
The best part is when they ask him to drop it off and he says "no I go for working"
Man, I really just listened to that entire video. My New Year's is lit
Why didn't the dispatcher try to find a translater and made the situation easier to deal with.
the best comment on here lol
Louie Niglio because language line that disptaxhers give for language barriers like this is more imbued to phones (why else did they keep asking him to call 9-1-1 on a phone so they can get him an interpreter) not a duplex channel radio.
I understand everything he said !
It's my weekend. I'm glad to see there are people like you who feel the need to be an ass for no reason. I'll pray for you. God bless.
Xd un mexicano tratando de hablar en inglés y no le sale, pobre tipo jaja
Good man
I understand the guy wanting to return the radio and thinking that if he just uses it the right person will come to pick it up but if he knows that it’s a fire department radio he should have just walked to his local fire station.
How do you lost a radio in the first place?
He is likely Not a Citizen.
But doing a good deed.
Dispatcher is on-the-job trainee.
I understand the language barrier here but how is this guy not understanding that they want him to spell the street name
Why is this so hard? No cop, firefighter or dispatcher has access to a cell phone with a map? Type in 1719 and it does the rest FFS.
Chris Dishneau multiple of the same house numbers in the same city lol. You know that, right?
Bad Gift thats just bad lazy ass planning
Chris Dishneau Or you know, not living in a tiny town...
Yeah, not really an option... Even most small towns I've been to have multiples of the same numerics. Not sure if you're too young or have just literally never left your house, but either way...
There are multiple of the same number in the town.
So there is not one single person that speaks Spanish there? lol that sucks. Feel bad for both people, one having patience and the other one trying to explain their location.
Crank Yankers
Dispatcher should learn the area, correct pronunciation or not. Very disturbing.
It's hard because this center just acquired this town to dispatch and they also cover 16 other departments.
Also where this man lives is not a town they dispatch for but the department that lost the radio was just acquired by the dispatch center.
Bobcat1Deere2Cat3 still even i could get the jist of what he said. He gave the numeric address clearly but the name of the street came out slight iffy but still enough to do a search on. A simple 2 second search would have fixed the the misspelled address and directed them without issue.
All you need now is a fire number and city....
John Doe it’s because you are reading it.
He is definitiv not the sharpest knife in the kitchen.
Dispatcher thought it was West Monterrey not West Mansard
So no one is gonna talk about the mans address not being censored? ok...
It is infuriating that he doesn't know what "spell" means.
expelliarmus!
Avada kedavra
He probably doesn’t know how to spell in English
How good is your Spanish?
Dan Teall obviously "spell" means "repeat the thing I couldn't understand"! The dispatcher probably could have done a better job at getting him to clarify the address by saying he couldn't understand the street name, but this guy was pretty thick.
At least it wasnt a digital radio. He wouldn't have understood anyone, and nobody would have understood him
I feel like taco's for dinner...
I would've taken his address out of it... Blocked the audio for that and not put it up on the screen
You forgot to blur the address, atleast I think you forgot
Why didn't yall censored the address of the citizen?
if it wasn't for the captions I would think he said Martin
First off someone shouldn't have left their radio. Second how is anyone gunna be upset for someone trying to return a lost item. In concerned for humanity
Allen hawk funny thing is, if the radio was attached to the SCBA (some companies have radio pouches that clip to the SCBA so there is no extra wires or antenna getting caught on everything while searching.) So it could've gotten knocked off or it fell out of the pocket after getting hung up on something.
Question as many times as this guy keyed up the FD Radio why could RED not triangulate and pinpoint his location. If I can do it with CB & Ham I know they can tighten up guys...
Joshua Eugin it's harder with a duplex radio because theres multiple towers it bounces off of so making an exact pinpoint of a radio using duplex makes it impossible. Simplex would be easier as it's one tower.
Your Worst Nightmare thanx did not know this.
What a bunch of nonsense. Simplex uses NO towers. The number of towers is irrelevant anyway - there's always only one source radio transmission and that's what you triangulate.
Find the tx frecuency
Analog doesn't pinpoint a location like digital P25 can. Thats why they wanted him to dial 911 so they can ping the location from the 911 call
What a hero!
damn, i bet this guy had to move after this video was released.
Shouldn't have ever used it. Call 911 or local authorities to report it. Not ok to be using emergency channels for this.
He can barley speak english and he didnt know who owned it.
he's lucky he was not arrested. No good deed goes ......
Just wow...
kinda want to go to his address to see if theres a Motorolla on his balcony still by any chance XD
And this is the problem with our immigration system and lack of official language. English should be the official language and to be here legally you should have to show proof you can speak, understand, and read in english. Without those skills, how are you to communicate with Rescue personnel and or law Enforcement WHEN the need arises? How are you going to be able to know what the DO NOT ENTER sign says or the ROAD CLOSED sign if you cannot read english?
the person who lost it is the one to blame
1:53 what are those beeps on a police radio called ?
MDC1200, commonly used to identify a radio and helpful when shutting down a stolen radio
@@fuhwurd Thank you
Run into this problem all the time poor English speaking skills can’t inform you of any emergency a lady actually died at my job due to the lack of English speakers in her department heart attack got there and even the supervisor couldn’t speak enough clear English to tell what was going on sad live in America Spanish is main language lol
way to go leaking this poor man Rico’s address
It's OK? LOL
He could be a comedian. Good job!
17...19... west mansard lane. I workeeng now
they do not loose many of those radios.
They never saw that radio again
They should play this for all of the people who believe we should open the floodgates to the border
Very sweet guy. Really funny ! I said Mansard lol. 😁😁😁😁😁😁
I agree; he did the right thing.
It is actually West Mansard
Awesome citizen right there!
what a nice guy
Wall of Voodoo, MEXICAN RADIO ! LOL !
If this is the best our EMS dispatchers can do...we're screwed, just totally screwed!
I don't think they're used to talking to citizens on the radio.
SpriteV1 or Mexicans for that matter...
the accent is Indian, not Hispanic you tard
RagtagRaging why he say si
This was fucking hilarious
broken english can be pain - ugggg
You can’t tell he speaks Spanish?
I don wanna tok to da police, I'm illegal and don wanna tok to da police, I liv it on da balcony, is ok!
A Googler Si jajaja
I'd rather have it turn out the way it did. Had you found it, it would have otherwise sounded more like, "dam cuz I jus fount a mufukin po-lice radio letz rob a mufaka with diz shit"
1719 west mansard street is what he said.
Now just guess what apartment number
I wouldn't be too sure if he was a citizen.
thats hilarious
John Doe honestly, that’s more than likely true, dunno about meth, but definitely something useless that that’ll be a complete waste
You’re right about the Citizen. He’s a good citizen.
Ouch
Yes, its okay
mansard lane is the name, i understood the guy but i also read the transcript too
Totally surprised this poor man was not arrested for impersonating an illegal immigrant on a secure channel…
I would of kept that shit, Finders keepers right?
if it was an APX i probably would but its the city’s property, gotta do whats good.
besides you can program your bowfang to analog frequencies like this
US still has no digital radio???
Why didn't he just call the non-emerg line? LOL
wow if only the guy new now 108,000 people would know his phonenunber
Nobody's phone number is in this video.
