Re socks, consider merino wool socks. They chafe less even when wet, they lose less insulation value when they get wet vs cotton & wool naturally resists bacteria growth (so if you have to reuse them without washing, they won't stink like a cotton sock. Something like smart wool will last a really long time (I have some pairs that are 15+ years old). Get "factory seconds" from some place like Sierra trading post and they're typically ~40% off. I usually can't tell what's wrong & even if I can, no one else can.
@@greenmarcosu Thanks. I had multiple request for a packing video. I'm glad I did, I had a lot of fun making it as well as taking all the aspects of the lessons I've learned since my first and second Bico
@@MusketeerMLP They say 3rd time's the charm. I am looking forward to it! You were spot on with socks - lots of them - and this year I am spending a little extra for decent quality, wicking, supportive, hiking-type socks.
It should really be mentioned. WATER! You'll get thirsty, and a water bladder is a good way to have a water container and stay in decorum. It was in the final shot on the bed but it deserves being double mentioned.
Water is indeed key. A lot of people who goes to these kind of events get caught up in the action that they will forget something simple like drinking water. Most LARPs, ren faires even, bike rallies takes place in the summer months. It'll be hot, you're moving a lot and will sweat a lot. Proper hydration does deserve a double mention even though it sounds common sense. However people will often forget, sometimes I have to be reminded to hydrate and vice versa to others who are normally of sound mind to their health.
I change my clothes every day during the week esepecially the socks and under garments. The outer layers I would wash mid way through the week or as needed to keep them clean.
San Mattiue du parc, where bico is at has crazy weather. The highest during the week can be up to the high 80s with humidity. Then drops to about the 50s at night. Then the rain is super unpredictable. GB 22 and 23 was wet. Very Wet.
Bico this year was really great! The battles were shorter because of the heat and hummidity but it wasn't too bad. We got to field our first canon and was well respected and liked by everyone.
Nope just the thick, itchy yet warm heavy army green wool blanket. I have a buddy up in Vertmont stores spare cots, pillows and sleeping bags at his cabin for us. But definitely bring a sleeping bag. It gets cold at the early morning hours.
Undergarments for the kilts are just for in case of an accidental flashing and extra comfort from chafing. Completely optional. Also if anyone heat casses and body temperature needs to be lowered by removing all outer garments. There's some privacy by having one on. As for taking new members. The H&H is on a hiatus for the forseable seasons. However there is another guild called the Highland Hellcats that I am in friendly relations with that does something similar in having a militaristic rp and look. They're kicking off in 2021.
MusketeerMLP I’ll look Into that clan as well but I was just curious for the future, I don’t have the time or funds to get into larping at the moment but thanks for the info
@@kevinbryan4215 larp can be an expensive hobby to get into similarly to reeanactment level. I would suggest getting little bits of equipment over time.
@@kevinbryan4215 we mostly wear the modern kilt because it's easier to work with. Great kilts however are also quite common to see at bico. It's pretty much players preference.
Apologies for the late help. You can find and talk with people associated with the religion you're interested in and join from there. Or, there's my way of stumbling by drunkily and finding myself involved in a cannibal ritual and having to sneak away. When you find the religion you want, can register it to the virtual game. This final step is optional unless you want to deal with geopolitics.

A whole guild of kilt wearers?! Bicolline is sounding better and better lol

On that Sidesword looks sick
Thanks! Sideswords are very uncommon larp weapons. Fake steel armoury are making them now and I'd like to get a hold of one some day.
For those completely smooth surface boots you can put on cleats for traction.
A couple people I use to participate in ren faire shows did just that. They glued on rubber soles to the bottom.
what do you bring to bicolline
SOCKS
but like-
ONLY SOCKS
Socks are all you need XD
What I gathered from this video:
1) hella socks, 2) that's it
@nicholas ceballos I'm glad you've paid attention. Do you have a moment while I continue to talk about socks and why many socks make feet happy.
As someone who works at a renfair. I plead with you to invest in some high quality leather boots. Your feet with thank you.
I agree to this.
can you do a video on 'how' to pack for biccoline, i need to know how to get a long bow up to canada if it aint fitting in any suitcase i got lmao
I have a buddy trying to figure that out too. This could be a segment for a future video. Thanks for the idea.
See you at the GB
