If you have a question please submit it to info@westerndressageassociation.org the link can be found on our website www.wdaa.org . It is so hard to keep up with all of the places where someone can ask a question some slip through the cracks. To answer your question, yes! You can ride one handed in WD.
Hi, I've asked this question several times on your videos and have never received a response. I am not criticizing, but would appreciate some input. Although it has many years since I have shown, I was an English dressage rider in the past. My question is regarding the use of curb bits with full contact in the lower levels as it is not allowed in English until the horse graduates to a full bridle. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Be Blessed!!!
Leanne Bourgeois I’m not sure why this is allowed either. Curb bits put a lot more pressure on the horses mouth than should be needed. But, you can also compete in a bosal or hackamore, which is not allowed in classical dressage.
Can a person ride one-handed in western dressage? Thanks

I think it’s probably just because most western riding is done in a curb bit. 🤷
