I also have three, and one working, but it was serviced before I bought it. I have had similar problems with my Pentax cameras, two have failed even after expensive service. Film photography is on hiatus for me now, I can't afford the film costs. Your videos are very enjoyable and fun to watch.
Thank you, another enjoyable video. I also have three Exakta RTL bodies but only one works. I guess that was the standard quality control measure - one out of three will work. I also had problems with overlapping frames. It was a stuck rewind button. I freed it up and the camera works fine. The Exakta RTL is really a Praktica VLC with a different meter and lens mount. I bought a Praktica VLC and was happy with it for about a year until it stopped working in the same manner as the Exaktas. It would not stay cocked. I have a good collection of the original Exaktas. They are a fine cameras, much better than the RTL. I regularly use them. It is too bad that the last German Exakta had such poor reliability compared to its great forbearers. The range of optics is great for the original Exaktas. The 50mm f2 Pancolar is one incredible lens. I once read that only the Leitz Summicron was better. BTW, the ISCO 135mm Westenar that was shown is also a great lens. It is actually a Schneider lens. I understand that ISCO stands for "Joseph Schneider Company" and ISCO was Schneider's lower end lens line. But the optics seem to me every bit as good and mechanically are able to take more of a beating.
I've had the same problem with film advancement with my Praktica super tl 1000 (which looks like the rtl 1000). The images were indeed overlapping... It's very frustrating...
I understand the problem. I have gotten into analog photography just recently and inversted in what I thought would be my favorite analog camera for my capabilities and my level of fun: the Yashica FX3 2000 Super. To make the story short: it does not work. 120,00 € wasted on Ebay. However, I watched your video on the Rollei XF35 and guess what .... ? :-)) I bought one on Ebay, stupid me. The suspense is extremely high , of whether or not it will work. So you see your influence on people here ;-) I like your channel a lot and I wish you all the best and keep up the good and interesting work.
Thanks for your input and compliment! I can't even count how many times I bought an analog camera, only to find out it did not work. It is not always easy to find an honest seller. Because of numerous disappointments which have cost me alot of money, I have decided to only buy camera's which I have physically tested myself. It makes it more challenging to find camera's, but saves alot of money and frustration. Look forward to hearing how your new Rollei XF35 works out!? Take care!
- Zebra-Design. Alles muss gereinigt werden.

Thanks, I can relate on the film costs. For that reason I shoot primarily B&W and develop my films.

Hello, i have a doubt. Do you know if the Praktica VLC visors and the Exakta RTL 1000 visors are compatible? Thanks in advance.
That is a good question... I do not own a Praktica so I could not tell you at this moment.
@@ThePhotographyMinimalist Only the finders are compatible. The lenses of course are not.
Has the issue been resolved, I wonder?
Hi Dimitri, it has been solved thanks for asking. I am planning a new video with the Exakta and a Meyer-Optik 300mm 4.5 lens!
@@ThePhotographyMinimalist Oh, great! Would love to hear a word or two about the repair. Looking forward to the video. Thank you
@@dimitrigrunhauser2471 all these praktica-based cameras have a weak point - a plastic gear in a film transporting mechanism.
I just bought me an Exact RTL 1000. Hope it has not the same problem. I will report
Good luck, I look forward to your report!
