Hi there Noraly, the road D915 is located between my home village Dumlu in Bayburt and between our neighbour village Karaçam in Trabzon. It was build by our villagers and our neighbour villagers during the russian invasion as a tactical mountain road for military reasons back then. U also have to consider that 90% of the calendar days it's really foggy and cloudy there, hence it's even more dangerous to drive on. But it's more dangerous to drive down this road from our village Dumlu to Karaçam instead driving upwards from Karaçam as u did. Not to forget, there's a natural habitat of brown bears, who could see u as a threat. They're almost instinct, but my dad saw 2 bears, one elder and one baby, when he was collecting cranberries at the mountains this summer. At 21:28 u can see my small little home village at the top right corner between the mountains, where the stream is flowing from. This gave me goosebumps, i've missed my homevillage 😍 We also drived down this road with my dad this summer with my dads 1.6 tdi vw caddy. We couldn't surpass 20-25 km/h. 😅 I've read all prayers to god, which i know until we got down haha. Have much fun in my homelands and my homecity Bayburt, where i also stayed from june til september this year and i wish u a safe ride. 🫡 Edit: in late spring seasons you can collect mountain mushrooms, which are the best and most delicious mushrooms ever btw, but be careful, some of them are poisonous, ask our local villagers for a guide. And during the summer season from August til September you can collect naturally growing cranberries, which our locals call ligarba/likapa and naturally growing blackberries as well.
I spent four summers in Turkiye. By far the best country I have traveled to. The food, culture, scenery, history, but most of all the Turks themselves. I am returning next year. Markos.
I'm 78, still riding roads not unlike these, but never more than 50 km from home. I dropped a Yamaha 225SX last weekend, and my right leg was pinned under the bike for a few minutes until I pried it loose. Bruised, but not broken. I've decided that it's time to stop riding solo on unknown dirt roads.
At 21:29 I could swear that is a view you would find if travelling in Wales or Scotland. Turkey has every type of Scenery known to man. No wonder they call it the land of all seasons. Such a beautiful country. It's a shame that most people have no idea how amazing it is. I'm selling my car and buying a bike. A cycle that is, not a motorbike. I want to spend a lifetime cycling around Turkey. Wow!
I seriously agree, my friend, I actually thought Turkey was barren everywhere and had a hot climate, but it is so diverse that it has every climate, the Black Sea is as rainy and green as Scotland, for example, while the south is hot, the west Black Sea has endless forests, but the central Anatolia is a green steppe, the closer it gets to the Mediterranean, the warm forested sea comes to my mind. And it's nice to have very high mountains and hills.

After my second visit I decided to move. I did. Have lived here for 20 years now. ❤ All it takes is to make up ones mind. 😉 We always make hundreds of excuses for not do what we desire. In most cases those excuses are just fear for something new and unknown. 🤗 Back in time we did not want to move or travel like Noraly. Then Internet and smartphones came and we can be online with family and friends as much as we want. We can even work from wherever we are, if we can do it on a computer. Turkey and the rest of the world is waiting for dreamers to just make their minds up and take the "risk". 🇹🇷❤ Just do it, if you regret it is just to move back. You will regret more what you did not do than what you have done in life❣️👍😉

2400 meters up in the mountains and not a stutter from Frankie! All of us who thought a carbureted bike would be a hot mess in the ditch can relax now. Noraly chose well and the men in that little shop delivered.
@@Rick-ps8xx . Yep....Injected motors do run better but there are advantages to carbs.... I notice Noraly seems to have gotten over her flooding fear......I have never shut off my fuel valve with daily riding and there has never been a problem in my 35 years of riding experience.... I do shut off the fuel when leaving the bike for more than a few days but I'm not sure even that's needed. She usually kick starts her bike. If the bike had flooded its cylinder she would know immediately when the piston refused to move..... There is no possibility of bending a connecting rod from a hydraulicked cylinder from kick starting.
@@Rick-ps8xx I put 51,000 miles on a carbed DR650 Suzuki, the trick for me was leave it alone. The carb is set from the factory for a happy medium. It can do sea level, and it can go to over 10,000' with no problem. Leave the airbox/exhaust/carb alone. No problems ever with that bike. Not one repair in 51,000 miles.
I was thinking the same thing....that he is glad he torqued down every nut and bolt, while watching her go up that mountain. That being said, i had a 1968 Triumph Bonneville out of Chicago that i rode all over the rocky mountains(many years ago) and she had no problems with altitude at all. It depends on the bike, but prolly also the fuel.
Tutkey by far is the easiest ride and yet so diverse and scenic. Unlike many countries where the dirt track is really muddy and hazardous, the mountains in Turkey are dry with clear track. Not to mention the food and the hospitable Turkish touch. After Africa, Turkey is a blast. No bureaucracy and corrupt border patrol. Nice!
I am from this area as ı know this road was buillted by russians when they invaded this area during the WWI. As far as ı know the project designed by a woman Russian enginner. The russian army payed locals to work in the construction.

And there is a silly joke in Turkey: An old guy speaks with the minister who visits his town. The guy tells to the minister: "I hate Russians! They have build all those buildings and roads in our town, but they have just gone and never came back!"

I´ve said it a few months before when she still was in Africa! Her content is so amazing and outstandig that I really can´t understand why Netflix, Amazon or any other of the great streaming platforms haven´t offered her a deal yet! An amazing, courageous, intelligent and likeable woman explores the world on her motorbike, gives us never seen before views and insights of countries, locals and customs in top notch quality.
Turkey is beautiful. From the sublime to the dramatic, and everything in between. I always assumed that the interior of Turkey must be barren wasteland (based on maps), but it is amazing. The friendly people just add to the special vibe.
The Black Sea region is very similar to Colorado and Switzerland, especially from the coast to the high mountains with its endemic vegetation and lush forests, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and wonderful landscapes. Especially the eastern Black Sea cities of Giresun, Trabzon, Rize and Artvin. These cities also have a very rich history, many empires have left their mark on this region. There are many historical churches, monasteries, castles in the mountain villages. Especially in the city of Trabzon, Rize and Artvin, when you walk in high places, you feel like you are in Switzerland. It has a mild climate and is the rainiest region in Turkey. Funny how I was twisting too while lying down on my bed at every turn you did on that steep zigzag road. Information about Türkiye: The diversity of Turkey's fauna is even greater than the diversity of its flora. While the number of animal species throughout Europe is 60,000, this figure is more than 80,000 in Turkey and exceeds 100,000 when subspecies are included. There are 40 national parks, 189 natural parks, 31 natural protected areas, 80 wildlife conservation areas and 109 natural monuments in Turkey. There are three different climate types in Turkey. In the Mediterranean climate, which is generally seen on the Aegean Sea and Mediterranean coasts, summers are hot and dry and winters are warm and rainy. The vegetation is maquis. In the Black Sea climate, which is a temperate oceanic climate type seen on the Black Sea coast, there is rainfall in every season and the natural vegetation is forest. I have watched all of your videos from the last two years, and *this one tops them all.* I had no idea of the endless scenic grandeur you showed us, I watched the screen, shaking my head the whole time with my mouth hanging open. I normally zip through UA-cam videos at 2x speed, this is one of the very few channels (about 2%) that I will watch at 1.5x, or in _this case,_ at normal speed. My wife fancies herself as a world traveler, and indeed by most standards she is, having been to more than 40 different countries in her 78 years. She thinks she has _seen_ Turkey, but this video will open her eyes to what she has missed.

People in Turkey are considering to be in Bayburt as "stucking" there but not visiting or living. In spring time, those mountains are very colorful, full of endemic flowers. In winters, those mountains are definitely snowy and the snow mostly remains there till Augusts. And yes, those feed the Euphrates river which follows till Basra in Iraq. And yes, it is quite relaxing to watch the nature on your camera and your voice tone is relaxing and peaceful too.
Lovely, outstanding scenery. My wife & I have toured Turkey, but not to this scale I think we'll need to go again sometime. Enjoy, & thankyou for bringing all your footage, so far, to our screens. We love watching it

Many motorcycle UA-cam channels show how the rider is proud to ride over passes in the Alps or steep roads in GB. They struggle to ride through the bends and on narrow, steep asphalt roads, even drop their superbikes and call it an adventure. All this is nothing compared to Noralys rides on the dirt track passes in Turkiye and she laughs and has fun riding it without problems or any kind of drama. WOW I don't thing we ever have THE best ride but this episode is right up at the top. I live not to far from Yosemite National Park in California USA but today's ride was spectacular. From the top of the mountains to the valley and up again all with good "motorbike" roads and a peek at the villages. Then to top off the video with that castle. And Frankie, what a Mountain Beast. Carpe Diem! !! !!!
Spent 12 weeks travelling Turkey by motorcycle. Mostly wild camping in the mountains. Rode most of these trails. Great country, great people, epic scenery. Can't wait to return 😊

I have been to Turkey. My first trip was to Istanbul, walked along the Bosphorous and around the Forts there. But the mountain countryside is where its really at. All were very welcoming and extremely friendly. The countryside is incredibly beautiful as are the people that live in the mountains. Sad that many may never see the REAL Turkey !
You have an incredible country! Those who have the prejudices likely have never visited Turkey. I have traveled there twice, once on a job interview and the other on an archaeological tour. I look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
I have visited Turkey 3 times. Each time was more magically than the last. Beautiful country, beautiful people. If you can run past the carpet salesman in Istanbul, you're good to go. I went to a football match at Fenerbache , everyone was amazed. Why is an Australian here? I only went because I enjoy going to see games in another country. But the way I was treated, by the supporters, the staff and even the police was a day to remember. Finished the night at a family's house enjoying the best meal in Turkey I had. Laughing, telling stories, jokes! Such a pleasure to visit your country and one day soon, I will return.
Oh, sweet! Letting the drone climb the steep path. I still gasped when the monastery came into view. So fascinating to see places built long ago perched on the sides of mountains. What a lush place you traveled through, there, after all the spare terrain. I remain thoroughly impressed by the maintenance of Turkey's roads, no matter how "minor". Impressive castle with its long history!
After watching all your episodes over these past seven seasons and now this season I must say this might have been the most epic mountain road you have ridden ranking up there with the road which paralleled the river along the Afghanistan border. What a track.

The stone mountain terrain reminds me of your trip through the Copper Canyon in Mexico. But Türkiye is much less arid and much more fertile. The lack of stone mountain trees makes the view much more immense, looking across deep valleys at still more huge stone mountains. Wow! Amazing! Thank you, Noraly! 🙂👍👍

I'm 78, still riding roads not unlike these, but never more than 50 km from home. I dropped a Yamaha 225SX last weekend, and my right leg was pinned under the bike for a few minutes until I pried it loose. Bruised, but not broken. I've decided that it's time to stop riding solo on unknown dirt roads.

At 21:29 I could swear that is a view you would find if travelling in Wales or Scotland. Turkey has every type of Scenery known to man. No wonder they call it the land of all seasons. Such a beautiful country. It's a shame that most people have no idea how amazing it is. I'm selling my car and buying a bike. A cycle that is, not a motorbike. I want to spend a lifetime cycling around Turkey. Wow!
I seriously agree, my friend, I actually thought Turkey was barren everywhere and had a hot climate, but it is so diverse that it has every climate, the Black Sea is as rainy and green as Scotland, for example, while the south is hot, the west Black Sea has endless forests, but the central Anatolia is a green steppe, the closer it gets to the Mediterranean, the warm forested sea comes to my mind. And it's nice to have very high mountains and hills.

Back in time we did not want to move or travel like Noraly. Then Internet and smartphones came and we can be online with family and friends as much as we want. We can even work from wherever we are, if we can do it on a computer.
Turkey and the rest of the world is waiting for dreamers to just make their minds up and take the "risk". 🇹🇷❤

2400 meters up in the mountains and not a stutter from Frankie! All of us who thought a carbureted bike would be a hot mess in the ditch can relax now. Noraly chose well and the men in that little shop delivered.

Yep....Injected motors do run better but there are advantages to carbs....
I notice Noraly seems to have gotten over her flooding fear......I have never shut off my fuel valve with daily riding and there has never been a problem in my 35 years of riding experience....
I do shut off the fuel when leaving the bike for more than a few days but I'm not sure even that's needed. She usually kick starts her bike. If the bike had flooded its cylinder she would know immediately when the piston refused to move..... There is no possibility of bending a connecting rod from a hydraulicked cylinder from kick starting.
@@Rick-ps8xx I put 51,000 miles on a carbed DR650 Suzuki, the trick for me was leave it alone.
The carb is set from the factory for a happy medium. It can do sea level, and it can go to over 10,000' with no problem. Leave the airbox/exhaust/carb alone. No problems ever with that bike. Not one repair in 51,000 miles.
I was thinking the same thing....that he is glad he torqued down every nut and bolt, while watching her go up that mountain. That being said, i had a 1968 Triumph Bonneville out of Chicago that i rode all over the rocky mountains(many years ago) and she had no problems with altitude at all. It depends on the bike, but prolly also the fuel.

Tutkey by far is the easiest ride and yet so diverse and scenic. Unlike many countries where the dirt track is really muddy and hazardous, the mountains in Turkey are dry with clear track. Not to mention the food and the hospitable Turkish touch.
After Africa, Turkey is a blast. No bureaucracy and corrupt border patrol. Nice!
The civil engineering of the mountain road is absolutely amazing! The builders all deserve medals for excellence 🥇🥇🥇🥇
I am from this area as ı know this road was buillted by russians when they invaded this area during the WWI. As far as ı know the project designed by a woman Russian enginner. The russian army payed locals to work in the construction.

And there is a silly joke in Turkey: An old guy speaks with the minister who visits his town. The guy tells to the minister: "I hate Russians! They have build all those buildings and roads in our town, but they have just gone and never came back!"

Turkey is beautiful. From the sublime to the dramatic, and everything in between. I always assumed that the interior of Turkey must be barren wasteland (based on maps), but it is amazing. The friendly people just add to the special vibe.
the mountains keep central turkey very dry but its not a wasteland, hills steppes and many many montains with cute settlementsand history everywhere
The Black Sea region is very similar to Colorado and Switzerland, especially from the coast to the high mountains with its endemic vegetation and lush forests, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and wonderful landscapes. Especially the eastern Black Sea cities of Giresun, Trabzon, Rize and Artvin. These cities also have a very rich history, many empires have left their mark on this region. There are many historical churches, monasteries, castles in the mountain villages. Especially in the city of Trabzon, Rize and Artvin, when you walk in high places, you feel like you are in Switzerland. It has a mild climate and is the rainiest region in Turkey. The Sumela Monastery and the Hagia Sophia Monastery are worth seeing.🌻🌼🌷💐

I’ve known for a long time that Turkey had a lot to offer but I can’t get over how beautiful the country is from everywhere you look.
Just dont go to Ankara if you want some beauty since it is a concrete mess but otherwise countryside is pretty beautiful. Most cities has charm too.

Funny how I was twisting too while lying down on my bed at every turn you did on that steep zigzag road. Though the ride may be zigzagged, but I have to admit that it "feels like" we are riding on the top of the world literally and metaphorically speaking! Wow! The diversity of Turkey's fauna is even greater than the diversity of its flora. While the number of animal species throughout Europe is 60,000, this figure is more than 80,000 in Turkey and exceeds 100,000 when subspecies are included.
There are 40 national parks, 189 natural parks, 31 natural protected areas, 80 wildlife conservation areas and 109 natural monuments in Turkey.
There are three different climate types in Turkey. In the Mediterranean climate, which is generally seen on the Aegean Sea and Mediterranean coasts, summers are hot and dry and winters are warm and rainy. The vegetation is maquis. In the Black Sea climate, which is a temperate oceanic climate type seen on the Black Sea coast, there is rainfall in every season and the natural vegetation is forest. The Black Sea coast is the only region of Turkey that receives high rainfall throughout the year, and the Eastern Black Sea region receives 2000-2500 millimeters of rainfall annually.

I have watched all of your videos from the last two years, and *this one tops them all.* I had no idea of the endless scenic grandeur you showed us, I watched the screen, shaking my head the whole time with my mouth hanging open. I normally zip through UA-cam videos at 2x speed, this is one of the very few channels (about 2%) that I will watch at 1.5x, or in _this case,_ at normal speed. My wife fancies herself as a world traveler, and indeed by most standards she is, having been to more than 40 different countries in her 78 years. She thinks she has _seen_ Turkey, but this video will open her eyes to what she has missed.

People in Turkey are considering to be in Bayburt as "stucking" there but not visiting or living.
In spring time, those mountains are very colorful, full of endemic flowers. In winters, those mountains are definitely snowy and the snow mostly remains there till Augusts. And yes, those feed the Euphrates river which follows till Basra in Iraq.
And yes, it is quite relaxing to watch the nature on your camera and your voice tone is relaxing and peaceful too.

Many motorcycle UA-cam channels show how the rider is proud to ride over passes in the Alps or steep roads in GB. They struggle to ride through the bends and on narrow, steep asphalt roads, even drop their superbikes and call it an adventure. All this is nothing compared to Noralys rides on the dirt track passes in Turkiye and she laughs and has fun riding it without problems or any kind of drama. WOW I don't thing we ever have THE best ride but this episode is right up at the top. I live not to far from Yosemite National Park in California USA but today's ride was spectacular. From the top of the mountains to the valley and up again all with good "motorbike" roads and a peek at the villages. Then to top off the video with that castle. And Frankie, what a Mountain Beast. Carpe Diem! !! !!!
Spent 12 weeks travelling Turkey by motorcycle. Mostly wild camping in the mountains. Rode most of these trails. Great country, great people, epic scenery. Can't wait to return 😊

I have been to Turkey. My first trip was to Istanbul, walked along the Bosphorous and around the Forts there. But the mountain countryside is where its really at. All were very welcoming and extremely friendly. The countryside is incredibly beautiful as are the people that live in the mountains. Sad that many may never see the REAL Turkey !
You have an incredible country! Those who have the prejudices likely have never visited Turkey. I have traveled there twice, once on a job interview and the other on an archaeological tour. I look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

I went to a football match at Fenerbache , everyone was amazed. Why is an Australian here? I only went because I enjoy going to see games in another country. But the way I was treated, by the supporters, the staff and even the police was a day to remember. Finished the night at a family's house enjoying the best meal in Turkey I had. Laughing, telling stories, jokes!

Oh, sweet! Letting the drone climb the steep path. I still gasped when the monastery came into view. So fascinating to see places built long ago perched on the sides of mountains. What a lush place you traveled through, there, after all the spare terrain. I remain thoroughly impressed by the maintenance of Turkey's roads, no matter how "minor". Impressive castle with its long history!

After watching all your episodes over these past seven seasons and now this season I must say this might have been the most epic mountain road you have ridden ranking up there with the road which paralleled the river along the Afghanistan border. What a track.

The stone mountain terrain reminds me of your trip through the Copper Canyon in Mexico. But Türkiye is much less arid and much more fertile. The lack of stone mountain trees makes the view much more immense, looking across deep valleys at still more huge stone mountains. Wow! Amazing! Thank you, Noraly! 🙂👍👍
