    I took the quiz, and I don’t see why they would be offended. Some of the themes are sexual, or violent in nature but they aren’t little kids. They are 10th graders, they are forming their own opinions, and navigating politics and morality for themselves. This could be a good topic for an essay, preparing them for academic work later in life.

      Dana May it was my class who took it, kids were creeped out but no one was so offended they told their parents . what actually happened is a parent went on their child’s school ipad (where we took the test) and saw it and reported her

    I think geo is wrong at the end. By the time college rolls around, people can already be set in their ways given to them by fascist/racist parents. Important stuff like that needs to be taught before 14, kids grow up fast now

    • @kontomble
      @kontomble 6 років тому +4

      depends on the kid also. some are set in there ways. some people are not. but at the same time there is also alot of parents that don't let there kids do the sex ed classes in school. i remember plenty of people in my elementary school and middle school that had to go sit in another class during any time we did sex ed as a group

    • @pandahuezo-menjivar9154
      @pandahuezo-menjivar9154 6 років тому +3

      They used those words correctly. What’s your problem?
      And kids don’t “grow up fast now”. They grew up fast back in the day, when fourteen year olds had to get jobs/get husbands. And besides that, the human brain is fully developed at age 25, both then and now. They grow up at the same rate, both then and now. This is a classic example of people’s perception not being backed up by science or cultural studies. Just like when kids believe things they’re taught when they aren’t backed by science or cultural studied. Crazy how that metaphor worked out.

    • @Cemarimoney
      @Cemarimoney 6 років тому

      To be fair, then high school sex ed still isn’t gonna do that - most people already have had sex by the time of an actual sex education class (if they have a sex ed class at all)

    Quizzes like these are really misleading. 99.9% of the time, the questions can be voted one way or the other depending on how the individual reads and weighs the specifics of the scenario and any deciding details could be left out which would swing the vote either way. A better type of quiz is one where it describes a scenario and it has multiple sliders, each for different aspects of the scenario. But it’s too elaborate for just anyone to create.

      I personally feel when the problems of incest (children) are taken off the table with not just 1 but 2 contraceptives, the question instantly turns into "2 consenting people are experimenting with their bodies". it's not hurting the people involved or the people around. when all is said and done everyone could go right back to their lives.

    Very interesting conversations! I'll play devils advocate view on the brother sister question (and rant about morality and God)
    I think Joe and Geo are suggesting that if two consenting adults do something together, why is it wrong?i
    Isnt that the same argument for gay marriage?
    If two legally consenting adults want to get married why not?
    The issue with the brother/sister thing is the genetic disorders of a baby.
    Change the scenario, what if it is two sisters? is that wrong?
    Why is it wrong? because you think its icky and gross? Many conservative christians call homosexuality gross and icky. thats a horrible argument against homosexuality/gay marriage.
    If you dont believe in God and objective/absolute morality, all morality is relative and simply the product of the human mind. There is no absolute moral lawgiver that bestows mankind with facts about morality. In other words, if an absolute moral lawgiver God doesn't exist there are no universal moral facts, only moral opinions/feelings.
    As a Christian, I do believe in an absolute moral lawgiver (God) who gives absolute/objective moral facts and guidelines. It is my belief that God has given his will for sex, and incest isn't a part of it. The apostle Paul condemns incest in 1 corinthians 5. That is my basis for rejecting incest. My view at least provides an objective view for rejecting incest outside of "i think its icky"
    I

    I don't get how you could contort the incestuous question yet have a quick fire response to the false contraceptive question. The object of the hypothetical is to gauge your moral standing the premise is the context. If you enter the quiz with the mindset of judgement then you're taking a different quiz (a quiz that measures your prejudice not moral standing). It is a hypothetical meant to asses where you're moral standings are individually. A couple who happens to be related being sexually involved is different from two close relative actively engaging in sexual acts. I feel in this case you don't have the liberty of rehashing the language to build an image of "I don't discriminate" cause that's not the point like Steve said ...

    I'd watch an hour long video of you guys debating over all these morality questions. This was so interesting to hear your guys' opposing views.

    When parents are enraged by their children learning morality it's a very sad day indeed.

    At first I was against the teacher being fired, but after seeing the questions it seems like it's centered around morality in sexual encounters, and while for a sex ed, psych or similar class that might be appropriate but not in a completely unrelated class, and I have to wonder why she was having students take this test. It's just very bizarre.
