My ranking; 1)Ride the Lightning 2) And Justice For all 3)Kill em All 4)Master of Puppets 5) Black Album Then I quit listening too them. They just got weaker and weaker through the 90’s. So I latched on to a band that went the opposite direction (weak to badass). That band was Pantera. They kept metal real in the 90’s. Metallica should’ve been that band. But they let trends derail them. Oddly, their popularity of saying “fuck you” to trends just vanished. Fortunately Pantera and Slayer were keeping it real. I did pick up “Hardwired”. It’s not the best, but it shits on a lot of their 90’s and early 2000’s crap. Took my son to see them in 2019. Was a good show. I’ve revisited their 90’s stuff. Just not digging on most of it. Oddly, St. Anger has grown on me a bit. Trash can snare and all. I’m 54 years old. I’ve always listened to heavy music. I saw Metallica before they even had an album out. When Lars was selling tapes at shows. Lol. I was a mega Metallica fan in the 80’s. So I grew up on a lot of their shit. Everyone figured I’d get into blues or country in my old age. But nope. Still a metal head. I listen to old shit I grew up on like Angelwitch, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I listen to all the contemporary shit too. From metal core to djent shit. I like it all. As long as it hits you in the face like a nail spiked baseball bat, I’m in. Dillinger escape plan, Emmure, Wage War, Code Orange and lots of other “modern” metal bands are kick ass. The contemporary metal I’m not too fond of are the bands that growl then sing like New Kids On The Block. Go hard or go home. I’m just glad there are kids keeping heavy music alive. I’m not going to sub categorize every little “niche metal” sub-genre. If it’s good it’s good. I can go from Babymetal to Bathory with no problem. Long live metal!!🤘🏻
