Also look up the stats for Caitlin Clark stats vs Diana Taurasi.. she is higher in every category. Christian Laetner wasn’t an NBA player at that time. He was the plus one college player that was allowed on the team because that was the transition from college players to pro players. He was the best college player at that time having won 2 national Championships and even Shaq acknowledged Christian Laetner deserve to be there more than he did because he was a better college player.

Bad analogy. The men's Olympic team just switched from sending collegiate players to sending NBA players, so they had to pick one college player, and they picked the collegiate player of the year, Christian Laettner. You could easily argue that they should have picked Shaq, but that's neither here nor there. 🤷‍♂️

How does any pro sport increase viewership? By increasing the fanbase. I've watched about two wnba games over the years, and zero women's Olympic basketball games over the years. But I'd watch the Olympic team if Caitlin Clark was on it.

Caitlin Clark is the Most Valuable Person in WNBA history. 1997 -2023 thousands of players owners and WNBA personnel drove franchises to bankruptcy and lost millions of dollars annually. Caitlin Clark has made millions for all franchises increasing tv viewerships and attendances and raising ticket prices to all her games. She is more valuable than Aja Wilson, more valuable than Cathy Englebert.

Not only would it give the WNBA something to brag about and make people come to watch, Caitlin will be about the only one using it and that would certainly pay back all those haters and probably shut them up😮😅😅😅😅 so everybody post along with me every time you see her!

All due to the Olympic team not taking on Caitlin Clark as a member of this year's WBT going to Paris France for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Maybe the bigger wave or opportunity is actually for Caitlin Clark to rest during those four weeks in July and August and to enjoy a normal life. Maybe grabbing her surfboard to catch that wave is practicing with her team during that time so that the Fever develops into a more cohesive and functioning unit that can win games during the last part of the season and be a contender for a playoff spot. Maybe the opportunity to have a better Fever team and give improved performance in August and September is better for CC and the WNBA than the opportunity to warm the bench for Team USA in Paris. Maybe Caitlin Clark will have plenty of opportunity to be on the Olympic team in future years, and the higher priority right now is to devote her time and energy to herself, the Fever, and the rest of this year's WNBA season.

IMO, Clark is one of the top-5 women players in the world and certainly the best perimeter shooter out of all women in basketball. The percentages won't tell you this, but how opposing teams defend her with 3/4 court press and double team trap at the corner to force her to give up both any "logo shot" or "drive to the hoop" tells you everything. NO OTHER WBNA PLAYER is guarded like this. NONE. She's guarded like that because she's the best offensive player in the WNBA and they all know it. The players know it. The coaches know it. If they didn't devize these "Jordan Rules" or "Caitlin Rules", she would be dropping bombs and setting scoring records right away out of college like she did when she set the NCAA scoring record.
So, don't say she's not one of the "top-15" players. She is. The defenses tell you she is. The game plan of the defense tells you she is.

Last season, the league implemented a charter system for the postseason. Teams were also permitted to fly charter during back-to-back sets - a phenomenon that will be more prevalent in an Olympic year like 2024. Last year's program cost the league $4.5 million.
Stewart in particular has been among the league's loudest critics when it comes to the topic of charter flights. Just last year, she offered to be part of a deal to subsidize charter travel for the entire league. She drew praise from numerous sources, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Christian Laettner hadn’t played a single game in the NBA when he was on the Olympic team. He was chosen, instead of Shaq, because they already had Ewing and Robinson in the lineup and he was very popular (having just won back-to-back collegiate titles). Caitlin Clark will have plenty of opportunities to play in the Olympics, but the main reason she didn’t make the team now is because the WNBA has so many players who are still playing after so many years and still haven’t retired. For the women, playing in the Olympics is huge cause there’s no WNBA season the year they are in the Olympics, either, so it serves an even greater purpose as a pro. I really didn’t like Tirasi’s smug comments when she was questioned about all this, though. As great a player she has been, I can’t stand her as a person, personally.

You’re being too logical and business savvy! This lesbian league, yes, when the majority of the players practice lesbianism, that is an accurate description apart from playing basketball. I’ve no interest in WNBA but I am interested in Caitlin Clark. I’ve never seen a woman’s professional game but did go to see Biola University’s woman team play and didn’t see the men’s team play. At best it’s a good high school level caliber, but Caitlin is special so I would see her play. There won’t be too many Clark’s in the WNBA so my interest is also limited.

US Olympic teams (like all-star teams) have always been a bit of a veterans' gig. Some of that is legit -- their experience being at the games before is helpful -- some of that is an honor for a career well played. I know it seems like Dirty D should not be there at this point, but honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up making a huge impact in just 10 minutes per game. Caitlyn will be the star of the US team four years from now -- just be patient.
