Good evening Linda. Thank you for a great review of the new BAM cases. I have the regular BAM hightech violin and viola cases and they get scratched and picked up wall paint like magnet (for some crazy reason) when we perform at gigs. I have to use paint thinner to remove them all the time. Understood from your review that the difference between the Panther and the Supreme model is the rubbery vs smooth surface. However, are these surfaces also scratches resistant and not easily picking up paint as well? The cellist who performed with us yesterday has a cello hightech case that is full of paint/scratches that it picked up from leaning against the walls. Thank you.
Rather than using solvent try Mr Kleen magic erasers. They work good and won’t compromise the material. The panther is like a rubber ball feel. I don’t know if door jam paint transfers happen on them as I carry the cases vertically in front of me. I assume they would mark up less.
Actually in these two models, the Panther came in under weight as Bam’s website says it’s 3.5 kg which is 7.72 lbs. they haven’t yet posted a weight of the Superior case. But it is a polycarbonate case which is stronger and less likely to distort in heat like the ABS shells tend to do if you leave them unlatched and open on a hot day. For these models 2.9 only stands for the style not the weight. Only the original 2.9 comes in close to 2.9kg

Seems like the BAM claimed weight doesn't bear much resemblance to the actual weight. That's pretty disappointing for a higher end case.
