Beautiful tie
Love this pattern! It has caught me a lot of fish in the western US! Thank you for making this vid!
Lovely fly
Thanks for watching guys
Nice looking variant of the grey wulff! All the best from Argentina.
Great looking fly Dessie. Nicely tied and well explained. Thank you for participating in the virtual Lockdown fly tying demonstration as it's been a great day's viewing of some terrific tyers.
Thanks Danny, aye been a great variation of patterns from great tyers
I wish I could have made it through all of the live thing but the time difference shut me down.
I think this is very interesting that the Gray Wulff be used on still water! Lee Wulff was famous for tying in hand, I wonder if he did this fly that way. Your presentation was very well done and your pattern is perfect! Thank you for being part of this program, the thing I appreciate is no matter the decades of tying, there are still many things to learn!
Hi Kerry, Lee’s tying certainly differs from mine, as you say, he tied “in hand”, I believe he actually pushed the hook eye below is left thumb nail and then tied from tail to eye, tying the wing in as the final material. No matter how it’s tied it is a proven fly, catching fish from New York States rivers to the large Irish Loughs, thanks for your time and input.
Great comment, its a deadly pattern here on Irish lakes and rivers. Trout candy👏👏
Best of luck pal.
Lovely tying, thanks so much.
Looking forward to this Desmond.
Cheers David
According to Lee Wulff, and I quote, "The wings should not slant forward, that is the sign of a fly-tyer who is either careless or unable to make them stand vertically." Here's hoping!
Thanks Simon, this pattern is tied to fish when our Irish Mayfly start to fall onto the surface after laying their eggs, at this stage their wings are actually flattening onto the surface, if tying for a river hatch of dries I would wrap each wing and pull upright.
