Really fun game, glad to be back in this dow community ever since I stopped playing dark Crusade when I was like 12, it's been 10 years but recently been living the hectic ultimate apocalypse mod
The idea for Chaos player with cultist grenades is to win. Cultogren is extremely hard to deal with. Other races normally have commander that won't be knocked down by Cultist nades, so you can shoot them, harass workers, destroy generators - do damage. Comsquad however has too low of a weight. Doesn't matter that damage against their armour is low. If comsquad or guards can't do anything against it - they'll die, sooner or later. And/or give up map control and economy. Cultogren is extremely cheap and close to impossible to punish high eco rush into t2. You just need Armoury, you get 4 capper units early on out in the field, grenades don't cost much and you can quickly build second generator. No need for Chaos Lord or Barracks. The only realistic way Imperial Guard can answer to this is to build a good turret on the map. But then we remember that Techpriests also lack weight to not be knocked down. So realistically, Chaos should never allow this to happen, unless it's a turret that doesn't protect much, very close to base. Well, you can pretty much see how it usually goes with both attempts by IG to build a turret at the top. And once it's Tier 2 - you just go with a stupid good economy into vehicles. Defilers, Talons - Imperial guard can't deal with all of that at the same time. Their answers take economy and resources. Economy they likely lost defending against cultists. Back when I was playing it was a very unbalanced matchup. Either Chaos does Cultogren and IG will lose most of the times. Harassed on t1, behind in t2, can't answer in time to switch to vehicles in t2.5 of Chaos. Or Chaos doesn't do Cultogren and then IG has much higher odds of winning than Chaos.
Chaos player throws hard in this one. Cultogren is a very hard counter build order against IG, with not much in terms how you actually can fight against that. Chaos player need to refine his macro and then he should have no problems in this MU especially on open maps.

Nah, Chaos had this game in the pocket with cultogren strat, which is amazing in this matchup, then threw it.
