If you measure strictly the hight of the mountain you'll have a different number, so yeah, sea level is kinda where we got all of earth's data and unless they've decided on Mars "sea level" it could be underwater and in that case Maunu kea is earth's largest mountain

Nothing weird. Mons Olympus is the volcano. Volcanoes grow taller when they erupt because magma flows out and freezes thus making a new layer of mountain and increasing it's height. Now imagine such a volcano erupting for the millions of years. Everest, on the other hand, as well as all the Himalayas in general is the result of the continental platfrom collision rather than continuous volcanism.

There's actually many more peaks in our solar system apart from Olympus Mons. Mercury has 2, Venus has plenty, Vesta and Ceres have one, Io being the most volcanically active celestial body have plenty, some of the moons of Saturn have one, most famous would be Iapetus' equatorial ridge, Miranda have a 20 km tall cliff, and Pluto have a few I think
I can't really comprehend the one in Mars, it just looks so smooth... feels like you can just walk there. But again 22km walking all the way up would be insane. Guess Martian settlers found their cardio challenge.

From base to top, Everest is only around 4,600m. This actually makes it SHORTER than mountains such as Panch Chuli in India, which is only ~6,800m from sea level but is ~5,400m from base to top. Mauna Kea's base is 6,000 metres under the sea floor, because it makes up a HUGE volcano that is so tall that it breaks the ocean's surface by 4,000m. This is why Mauna Kea is sometimes measured from under sea level and Everest is measured from sea level. In reality, Everest is not really that tall from base to top.

Mt Kailash is in Tibet, just used in a lot of Indian mythology. The real Indian mountains missing from the video are Nanda Devi and Kanchenjunga (Kanchenjunga is shared with Nepal, however it is India's highest mountain and is the world's 3rd.)
In the List I lack the Teide Volcano in Tenerife, with 3,715 meters high from sea level it is the highest point in Spain. Still. If the base of Everest was as deep as the Mariana trench, then Everest would end up at 19.8KM which is still less than Olympus Mons' 21.9 KM

Smaller planet has weaker gravity, so mountain can be taller. Earth’s crust cannot support a mountain of that height.
