LOL My hubby walked 1/2 mile to the PIggly Wiggly for a jar of green olives 32 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. A symbol of his love and dedication to me in our first year of marriage. The sign of a GOOD man.

The mold will form between the bales and the tarp as well. Try and find some free wooden skids/pallets and use them to make a floor to stack the hay on

Yes! Get them up off the ground and on pallets or boards spaced apart! Plastic will still cause the mold problem.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd and last baby, I was almost 30 years old and my cravings were insane. My sweet husband would go buy the gallon ballpark size pickles and I would use a spoon and scoop out the insides and then stuff the pickle with hot buttery popcorn. It was sooo good. Then I chomped on cherry lime ice from Sonic. I craved the sour bitter flavors. All three of my kids were born in the heat of Oklahoma summers so I would eat my “sours” and drink water all day and run to pee all night 🤣 I had my kids at 19,21, and 29 years old. I’m 46 now with two beautiful grands. Married 27years to my high school sweetheart living on our 4 acre homestead, homeschooling my grandson and my almost 17 year old son. Life is a beautiful blessing. God bless.

Pregnancy cravings... I had been dealing with infertility for over three years and had given up. My husband walked in on me after grocery shopping and I had just finished eating a whole jar of green olives and a quart of egg nog. I never bought green olives, I hated them back then. Five days in a row I did that same thing. After the second day he said 'you're pregnant!' I did not believe it because I had been through so many disappointments. I waited six more weeks to test, it was positive!

My husband would have never waited on me like you wait on your wife. . I’ve never seen a husband be as attentive as you homesteaders. I worked full time outside the home and returned to work (under pressure) when baby was 10 days old. It’s impressive how much you homesteading husbands are involved with your children and sweet/attentive to your wives.

I had a chilli craving when I was pregnant. Passed by this real “ hole in the wall” greasy bar in Detroit, had to go to the bathroom. When I came out, smelled this wonderful chilli smell and just had to get a cup to go. I craved that so much when I got home, that I made the trip back there every night for two weeks. He came back with four oranges, and I practically inhaled them in a few minutes. I remember crying, "only four?". But he wasn't going back. 🤔🤔. With our first son we lived in military in KY and being from California I craved greasy Mexican food. Back then no one in that area had any nor how to cook tacos and etc. The Commissary had canned Patio shells and also pinto beans so I had to make all of my own cravings eating one by one each fried shell for tacos and tostadas and I cooked up a big pot of beans then refried them in lard a neighbor had given me. My in laws gathered up all the supplies from nearby Mexican restaurant in California and sent me all I craved a week later including a tortilla press and bags of masa. I could smell it when husband had picked it up and said dogs followed him to the truck. I ripped it open and was content just to smell all that goodness then stayed up all night making all the tortillas and ate it for days with a huge smile UNTIL the next trimester fried pickles and peanut butter added to the Mexican food became my go to. Am certain hubby would have driven days to help satisfy my cravings but back in 60s it didn’t work that way. Everything was territorial and Mail was slow if at all. If on Post you could ask the Commissary to order whatever but sometimes it wasn’t an option. But quickly I snapped out of the weird cravings when on a late night run my husband got in an head on accident on two lane road when trucker fell asleep an my hubby drove into a tree which saved him from going over a huge cliff. That phone call numbed me and ended cravings and almost my pregnancy. Never had cravings with any other babies cus remembered how very lucky we were and yes how greedy I was knowing that man and a great father could have not been here to hold his babies tiny hands. One can certainly see how happy you are Art having this precious baby or babies. Just be careful on the road and maybe take Grace with you just to help ya stay awake. Bri May be carrying this new life but you as well are making home a special place too by keeping her happy. Just grateful that you and Grace can cook and Grace is a hardworker helping you with the chores allowing mom to sneak that nap. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️

Was surprised I could eat it because I had morning sickness for 7 months. My last I could not eat much without being sick. I only gained 15 pounds snd he came 6 weeks early. I had high blood pressure with him ! He was 5’4” at birth both his brothers were 8 lbs. but he was 20 1/2 inches like his brothers. He is 18 and 6ft 3. Inches and still growing. ( A couple years ago he broke both bones in his left arm and has plates and screws in it, and the doctor said then he had at least another 5-6 years of growing to do yet! He had grown 3 inches since that. So not sure how tall he will get.). But he is a healthy young man and has been.

I live in New York mountains...hay is expensive here too...to save it from rotting, put a layer of cheap straw bales down first straight on the barn floor (whole not broken open), then lay the good hay on top, as high as your comfortable...I've been able to use the straw bales all year...saving my hay perfectly. And I get about 2 tons at a time...
Then when they're spent use the straw bales as garden mulch...Be Blessed

God bless pregnant women. I loved it when my wife was pregnant. One night at 2AM she had a craving for double stuffed Oreo cookies, at the time 1994, nothing except gas stations were open at night. It took me two hours to find them, but I certainly didn't mind. Many other cravings but, that was the one I remember the best.

My pregnancy cravings were fried fish, mashed potatoes, corn and whole pickles. My sweet craving was strawberry swirl ice cream.
We'd never even heard about fried pickles. I'd probably have had that craving also.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe.
May God continue to bless you and your family.

Fried pickles sounds like something you'd find at the Los Angeles County Fair. Fried bananas, twinkies, extra. Never heard of fried pickles. They look good. Enjoy Bri. Great seeing Grace step up to the chores. Looking forward to seeing some geese.

When my wife was pregnant we were in Germany. Her craving was bananas and they weren’t readily available. I had to drive all over Bremerhaven til I found an ice cream parlor that had bananas. They thought I was crazy when I told them all I wanted was a couple of bananas They were a premium and were rationed so I paid dearly for them, but it was worth it to keep my wife happy.

You're such a great man Art! I have 7 children and my cravings varied a bit depending on the pregnancy but the most consistent craving were for potatoes...any potato was a good potato back then, and any meat or potato was a good excuse for bbq sauce. I craved more greens/vegetables with one pregnancy and that child...now 44 year old woman has always asked for "green food", so your little one maybe letting you know they will like fried pickles. Love your family!!!

When I was pregnant with my first I craved big mac and chocolate pudding.
I also could not get enough milk. This is significant because I NEVER drink milk, even as a child. My children are now 38 & 39

When I was pregnant with my first child I always wanted Jack In The Box tacos extra cheese no sauce(so I could control how much hot sauce I wanted on it) dipped in their ranch and sweet and sour sauce. To this day.... I can't eat their tacos unless I have my sauces with it.

Art, you need to pick up some pallets and stack the hay on them, plastic is going to hold moisture and mold. Bravo for getting Bri those pickles she was craving, Happy Wife , Happy Life!

I've had the mold issue with my hay in several different storage systems. The best way to save your bottom layer is to lay it on it's side so no strings are touching the ground. Further layers can be placed on their strings. Works well and saves money.

A long time ago, my pregnancy cravings were to cut salami, cheddar cheese, and sour pickles into tiny squares and eat them using toothpicks. Why? Who knows☺️
