Yes, that is a nice unit. And yes, the NR1200 has preamp outs so you can add a bigger stereo power amp and use it as a preamp. If you have one laying around, go that way, or reach out to us for some suggestions.
hello guys. this amp would be perfect for those speakers. first, the Klipsch speakers are VERY bright, too bright for most. The Marantz amplifiers have a very smooth, warm, and very rich sound signature, which would mate really well with bright speakers. I think the NR1200 would roll off the high end quite well so that they are not fatiguing. This is a great question to ask because the synergy between speakers and amplifiers have a LOT to do with how they will sound. If you want something even better sounding, without the HDMI, look at the Marantz PM7000N. Much better power section, BIG torrodial transformer, and beefier aluminum rails to dissipate heat. It's a lot more amp for about $400 more. Let me know how it works out.

@@maxrider2887 No, the PM6006 has a toroidal transformer, has much thicker aluminum heat dissipation rails, and overall has a beefier amplifier section. However, no subwoofer output, outdated DAC, no networking functions, no radio tuner, and no HDMI switching. That being said, if you are not going to drive speakers that are not efficient or demanding with power, you will be just fine. You should wait for the new version of the PM6006 which is the PM6007. We looked up your speaker and could not find their sensitivity rating. The specs just say to use 25-75 watts per channel, which means they should work fine with the NR1200. You probably want to add a subwoofer for the best performance. Thanks for watching
I`m here to ask the Internet for some help! I`ve got the NR1200 paired up with the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 speakers and the quality is ...disappointing to say the least. At high volume (50% up) it`s reasonable (by no means good), but at lower volumes it sounds like my Google Home speaker...with no exaggeration. What could be the problem? It`s been sat on the shelf for about a year cause I can`t stand the sound of it. I`ve checked all the connections and adjusted the sound settings with little improvement. Do I need better speakers ? Should I add and AMP ? Could it be a faulty product ? Thanks in advance.
Tom, your speakers are somewhat low in sensitivity, meaning they do take right much power to come to life. We would suggest you try another pair of speakers, just to confirm the Marantz is ok. It does have preamp out which would allow you to add a separate power amp, if you need all the HDMI connections, that might be a good way to go, if not and you just need a good two channel integrated amp, check out this article www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/best-integrated-amps-under-1000/ It sounds like you are hearing a lack of bass and warmth- one other small possibility is the gauge of your speaker cable. It should be 14g or better (the smaller the number the bigger) Thanks for watching
This might be exactly what I was after, I wonder, can the zone 2 be used to bi-amp the speakers? I was looking for a stereo receiver or a 3 channel amp as I only really have room for the front speakers but so often the amps lacked HDMI inputs and any of the nice assistance tech.

I know there's a market for 2 channel home theatre but I don't get it. I really like the idea of the PM6006 but I understand how just an integrated amplifier today is kind of in no man's land. Neither pure audiophile nor versatile enough to be an all in one. wade0955 Marantz nr1200 is better then pm6006 in audio quality only?
@@maxrider2887 No, the PM6006 has a toroidal transformer, has much thicker aluminum heat dissipation rails, and overall has a beefier amplifier section. However, no subwoofer output, outdated DAC, no networking functions, no radio tuner, and no HDMI switching. That being said, if you are not going to drive speakers that are not efficient or demanding with power, you will be just fine. You should wait for the new version of the PM6006 which is the PM6007. It will have a subwoofer output, upgraded DAC, and 20% more powerful for the same cost. If you are just wanting to use it for audio, go with that one over the NR1200. Good luck.
do you work for marantz ? what do you mean by MINI brands ?
the phono is good for the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Turntable?
Have you ever reviewed the Marantz MC-R612?
We have not, thanks for watching.
Can't make up my mind between this Marantz NR1200 and Onkyo 8270, the spec and price are very similar. Any suggestions, my speakers are KEF q900.
Andreas Keck Get you the Pioneer elite Sx-N30 they use to be 799.00 now down to about 300 bucks lots of class AB power very underrated I have a full re Jew in my channel of it and it has 2 full range preouts to add 2 separate power amps and 2 preouts for powered subwoofers I have the marantz also The Pioneer has a very rich warm sound signature with double the bass output of others in its class even in direct mode it has bass
I'd love to try the Kefs I have the q100 and love them check my channel out
i think onkyo is better but they dont last run way to hot, enough keep it in a air conditioned room or throw a big fan at it for longevity or just go with yamaha. i have old mid and new avr from yamaha and they all works still
Johnny Bravo Yamaha is good but I was disappointed with the newer yammy As801 my yammy ax497 from 2010 was much better I bought the Pioneer elite sx-n30 for 799.00 a 100 bucks difference than the Yammy as801 Love the Pioneer and that's coming from a yammy fan since 1989
Would this go well with Q acoustics 3030i’s?
@@AudioAdvice appreciate the response, I`ll try your suggestions.
This might be exactly what I was after, I wonder, can the zone 2 be used to bi-amp the speakers? I was looking for a stereo receiver or a 3 channel amp as I only really have room for the front speakers but so often the amps lacked HDMI inputs and any of the nice assistance tech.
did you consider the denon dra800h?? Did you decide on the 1200?
Only pulls out 210watts out of the wall so idk about bi amp
Yes it can.
Can you set your speakers to small or large with this receiver?
Actually, you have some very fine adjustments from 40Hz to 250Hz. There is a new model, the 1710 www.audioadvice.com/marantz-nr1710-slim-7-2ch-4k-ultra-hd-av-receiver
How do you activate the external amplifier when my external amplifier does not have auto sense and the NR1200 has NO 12 Volt Trigger out?
By pressing the power button.
Does anyone now if there is a difference in sound compare to a denon at the same price range
Conventional wisdom is Marantz is slightly sweeter and more musical while Denon is more punchy.
@@RasheedKhan-he6xx I have Denon DRA 800H + Monitor Audio silver 50 (but tested also Marantz and KEF LS50) Marantz is more clear/crisp but Denon is more natural and less fatigue to listen.
Great review!
The phono amp is very very simpel and set up around 1 opamp the NJM8068. That it uses Marantz HDAM modules is pure BS! However, it sounds pretty good.
I saw the HDMI out is capped at 60hz though.
Yes that is correct, we always advise people to connect their gaming console directly to the TV and use eArc to get object based surround back to the AVR. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice Thanks!
I wonder if the new Marantz Stereo 70s slimline replacement for this will have 8k/60hz/ 4k120hz 40gbps inputs? Lol
Seems no bass management? Low/High pass crossovers? Similar to the DRA-800H in that respect I am guessing.
Shame... would have otherwise been interesting.
I looked at the manual and it has a variable crossover in about 10Hz increments.
@@lesporque Awesome thanks for confirming, hadn't spotted the manual for this yet.
An advantage over the DRA-800H then (its manual doesn't have any mention).
@@vrqu You mean subwoofer crossover or the speaker crossover? I am confused. I own the Denon dra 800 and for crossover subwoofer options u can choose for example 80hz, 90, 100 110 and 120. BUT no crossover for speakers. no option for small or large either.
@@lesporque Can u set the crossover frequency for the speakers AND the subwoofer?
@@NewPSCity Yep I mean no high pass for the main speakers meaning they always receive all frequencies (as in missing the equivalent of a "small" option on a receiver).
Hello, this will drive LS50? It only has 75 W
Hi, the NR1200 will drive the LS50's but you would benefit from more power. Chat with us on our website and we would be happy to give you some recommendations!

@@AudioAdvice thanks , i had a question, i have marantz sr 73 which is pretty old but powerful, its connected with my jbl l166 speakers and marantz drives it perfectly with rich mid and low bass, but when i tried connecting the new marantz nr1200 with the same speakers, the sound is beautiful, even more crispy and clear but less mid and low bass compared to marantz sr 73. I dont know why is this happening? Marantz sr 73 has 75 watts per channel at 8 ohms and nr 1200 has 75 watts per channel as well but why it doesnt come to power like sr 73 when connected ? Is there any settings i am missing on to ? Please help
@@akashbohra6798 The SR73 has a much beefier power supply. Did you get the NR1200 from Audio Advice?
Can anybody advise if this Marantz have A/B class amplifier or D class.
A/B
@@markbauwens is that better than D for sound?
Both, A/B and D are good for sound. Power consumption A/B is higher than D because D amplifier principle is more efficient
@@RainbowCharade AB is smoother, higher resolution, D is deeper and more full bodied.
This match focal chora 816 ?
Noticed no LOUDNESS button for bass compensation at low levels. All the integrated amps have it why not this?
Really a killer integrated DAC wifi coffee making receiver.
HAHA! Good stuff. How do you take your coffee?
Audio Advice room for creamer
seems okay for a spare room for cheap speakers. but come on the standard is 100w per speaker for decent music listening or tv watching. if you dont have hi db sensitivity speakers dont bother with this thing
most speakers are 88 db at 8 ohm, my speakers are 88db at 6 ohm and i run them with the The TechnicalPro rx55uribt which is about 55 watts a side and theres more than enough volume for decent music and movie listening. im just scared my neighbors and my moms bf might complain lol.
How does it compare to Yamaha R-N803? Just be curious.
Pham Cong Dinh the dual sub out is not on the n803, am guessing this gives you a warmer sound vs a neutral Yamaha sound. I betcha it gets bloody hot
Sounds better then R-N803d. Clear highs, balanced mids and bass. Yamaha is flat.
can i connect cassette deck to this marantz nr 1200?
Great question! You could connect it for playback, but there is no record out on the NR1200. You could, in theory use the preamp outs, but you would need to turn off the speakers when you did that. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the greatest review :)

@@4paulseyes thanks went with the 1609 and a crown xls 1002
I know there's a market for 2 channel home theatre but I don't get it. I really like the idea of the PM6006 but I understand how just an integrated amplifier today is kind of in no man's land. Neither pure audiophile nor versatile enough to be an all in one. To me a 21st century update of the old stereo receiver, that had a tuner, would be to replace the tuner with a streamer, add Bluetooth and run everything through the best possible DAC available for the money.

IC used in this?
Yes, a lot.
18pounds is light
1509av or this one ?
It depends on your needs. the NR1509 is a 5 channel surround sound unit and the NR1200 is a 2 channel stereo unit. Similar performance sonically but identifying your needs is the most important factor in choosing between the two.
@gillan64 Yes.
@gillan64 oh ok. I m ordering the nr1609
Decent pre amp for me... I would never expect to run dedicated speakers with an avr.
