You are so right, James, and frankly no one could say it any better. You and I have been in love with the same woman all our lves. Only a woman as rare and wonderful as Guiomar Novaes could make that possible and still allow us to remain friends. ;-)
One of those pieces that any reasonably capable pianist thinks he could play quite easily -- UNTIL he hears incomparable artistry like this. Humbling to be sure, but always inspiring -- never daunting. It is a great treat to be able to hear these dear and familiar pieces played so wonderfully. Thank you for posting so many of Novaes 'recorded performances of "smaller" pieces.

It only better with each repeated hearing. The unique things this woman did with VOICING, PACING and RUBATO are incomparably beautiful.

The playing is beautiful, but it just sounds like the typical immense bias when we assume it's better just because Miss So-and-so is playing.
