The #1 Exercise for Building Punching Power?

- One of the very best exercises for developing more power in your punches is the Banded Hang Clean and we can attribute this to the following 3 reasons:
1) It develops the muscles important for delivering horsepower to your punches - legs, hips, butt. We get that training effect on the upward, triple extension portion of the lift. The bands help facilitate accelerating that phase.
2) The bands also pull the bar down quickly which forces us to explosively jump underneath in order to catch it. This teaches us to explosively drop our weight onto our legs, just like we’re sitting down on a power punch.
3) We can drop that bodyweight as explosively as possible but if the transition from eccentric contraction to concentric contraction is slow, we won’t have any usable power coming back. That transition - the amortization phase - needs to be fast, fast, fast. We train that by quickly standing back up after catching the bar. The bands increase the force of the eccentric contraction which challenges and trains our ability to come back fast.
Any tips for someone with tight shoulders and history of L5/S1 bulging disc?
The Patriotic Nobody Good question but honestly I’d be u qualified to answer. Not sure if/how much additional damage may be done to your disc by catching the clean. I do have a separate video on sitting down on a punch to learn the technique. And there are less impactful ways to work on leg explosiveness (e.g. concentric only jumps without the landing portion)
Sir you are the best 👌👌👌👌
Thank you 🙏
@@PUNCHwithPOWER thank you sir i am very glad sir 😭😄😄😄😄😄sir how can i conditioning my knuckles without skin damage
@@wwepunjabibeats2186 hit the bag without gloves. Gradually.
@@PUNCHwithPOWER sir but if i punching without gloves get my knuckles inner and my skin damage
@@wwepunjabibeats2186 ease into it a little at a time
Any band Recommendation?. Thanks.
I just use a black or red mini band. Anything heavier and the damn bar snaps down too fast for me.
You can get them from any speed shop.
@@PUNCHwithPOWER I own some bands But them Snapping is Definitely a Concern hence the Strength of it..look Forward to more videos like on Hand Strengthening, etc which also plays a part..Happy New Year!
@@666kinski thanks man.
And I hear you - I used to be gun shy with them too but if I just keep an eye on their condition and replace as soon as they wear. I’ve been ok with them. Good luck.
