If Budweiser wanted to increase sales, they'd re-air this, or do an almost exact remake of it. Still one of the best written, sung, and directed commercials of all time, in my opinion.
Graxster+ OMG!!! I've been saying this for years. You took the words right outta my mouth! Thumbs Up! Anheuser Busch needs to be American owned again and continue to rein as the King! The commercials alone especially come the holidays put us all in the spirit. I sent a letter to the company years ago requesting they show these old commercials again, yet never received a reply.
I fondly remember this commercial for both its appearance in "Close Encounters" and the adaptation of its jingle tune for the campaign song of my political party at Massachusetts Boys' State '79. Those were the days when commercial jingles meant substance. Thanks for posting the king of commercials!
Bring back beer commercials? They never left. What do you mean. Here in Pennsylvania we get beer ads. Are you saying you’re state don’t allow it? Generally curious
Made to give up cigarette commercials and beer commercials for full-body deodorant commercials. "Thigh folds, butt crack, feet.". Where's the Marlboro Man and Ronald McDonald?
As a teen, a couple of my friends and I were at the state fair one morning in 1972 right after they opened the gates at 6 am (it seemed like a good idea at the time). Even though the gates were open, almost nothing else yet was at that hour, but then as we strolled around we noticed activity at the barn where the Budweiser wagon and Clydesdales were being kept and their spotlessly beautiful transport rigs were parked. We stood for a long while in very close proximity and watched as the handlers brought out the horses, bathed, groomed, and fed them, and began getting them harnessed up for the day's activities. What beautiful, impressive animals they are. It was worth getting there at 6 am just to watch some of the work that went into prepping the "stars" for their daily appearance schedule. Over a half century later it's one of the few things I still remember about that day.
Rc Gaines Why? We're you drunk on this when the "little green men" abducted and probed and had their ways with you whilst in an alcoholic stupor before returning you to your double-wide and depositing you amidst the squalor of your tenement reeking of beer and week old pizza? Yeah me too.
Easily one of the best commercials ever made. Imagine a jingle sounding like award -winning music. Everything works well together in this one. Sound and visuals!
The theme song of this commercial was written by my band teacher, Carroll Butts. I didn't know it was in "Close Encounters" though. The minute you mentioned it I could see it. Richard Dreyfuss is building that huge model of Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Actually my school was in.....Wyoming, Torrington, Wyoming.😮
I had close encounters of the third kind on vhs and watched it repeatedly when I was a little kid, and I remember this commercial being on in the background, especially the weird ending "ya da da da da da da da da da daaaa" popped in my head today and decided to search for it
Yeah I think playing on the tv in the living room of Richard Dryfusse's character when his characters wife played by Terry Garr called him had that giant crazy mountain thing built
Wow, I had forgotten about this commercial. When I was a kid, I can remember sitting in amazement at the song and the horses and the quick-cuts between camera shots. Even after all these years, it really is still a great commercial.
I'm a soon to retire Anheuser-Busch machinist. I hear this song with great pride. we all work hard to be a part of this historical brand and work hard to bring everyone the best quality beer possible. If your ever in St. Louis stop by the brewery and take the tour. They just don't build them like that anymore. Built and brewed with pride.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but this is the same commercial that was shown in the movie, "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND," where Roy was attempting to sculpt the Devil's Tower (in his rec room) while his TV was on.
Back from a time when a jingle could make or break a brand. Clearly, Bud got its money's worth out of this one. People not even born when this came out still know the theme.
Born and raised in St Louis, this song has been part of my life. Back then the Clydesdale's were still in St. Louis at Grant's Farm has been in the Busch family since 1903. They still have the tours. Missouri is very proud of our Clydesdale's !🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎
This is one of those commercials I actually waited for with antcipation when I was a kid. Thanks for UA-cam and to scottm52 for posting. Now at age 45, I get to play these 42 seconds of Gingle Genius over and over again to see what it is about them that makes this so cool! Definitely effective at affirming their product!
I remember this. My dad shot it. It was pre dawn and COLD, snow was still on the ground and the early shots were coming out of the Gates at the Busch estate on Gravois Rd. It had to be done early so the street wouldn't be closed off for too long. It warmed up as the day went on.The trucking shot is my favorite, The camera was in the Back of a truck as the Clydesdales came right for it... Yikes, then they steered the whole rig to the right. It seemed close though.

The Budweiser jingle and the beautiful Clydesdales always warm my heart. So many memories of going to Cardinal baseball games as a kid. This is advertising at its best!

Not sure what marketing company Anheiser Busch hired- but the general public really loved the Clyde’s!! The beer is just icing on the cake- it’s those Clydesdales that the public went nuts over! The first Super Bowl add without the beloved Gentle Giants was replaced but some nasty old lady telling us to drink responsibility… jeez… that $$ could have made a stellar Budweiser Clydesdale ad!!
