The one thing I love with Trottie when I see these fittings with guys that aren't tour pros is how he thinks about what they need to improve long term and what the equipment and technique needs to do down the line. I think so many "fitters" only think about what the see there and then. I always say to people with irons I want them to be able to have them for at least 5 years and we can tweak lofts and lies and freshen grips if needed. And woods be able to just tweak settings so again they can have them for 3+ years. It's nice buying equipment every year but people like that you are thinking in that moment long term and actually trying to avoid them having to come back in a year's time. Love it!!!

awesome video. exactly what i've discovered with my driver this year @Trottiegolf. Something that has helped me achieve what you are talking about is not overswinging. the further I go back the better chance i have of out to in. By transitioning at the natural end of the backswing before angles start to deteriorate i can keep that in/out path and hit low spinning bombs.

Recently received a stealth driver love it I am 6 1 210 and was playing an m6 with extra stuff shaft. The stealth shaft is stiff but 1 inch shorter. So I switched them. Want to hit bombs. Day 1 with stealth and shorter shaft first 10 drive totals were all 300 to 310 yds 160 to 167 ball speed. I have hit 172 mph and up to 330 yds with m6 with longer xstiff. I feel like I can get more out of the stealth head and longer xstiff but the push fade is back. I don't mind average 300 yds which I can get with the shorter shaft I also feel more in control with the shorter shaft. But man it feels good when you hammer a high towering 320 to 330 drive. Any suggestions.

Brought up in Scotland and had a good amateur career, hitting higher than 60ft back in the 90's with the equipment back then wasn't the way to go.
Now lives at altitude and can cover up his peak height downfalls with thinner air.
Bottom line this vide proved we're a victim to our environment & equipment. I look at this one differently, as in: " How Good of a Golfer is he, that he's developed his game around what he had! "
Providing he keeps the same approach then in one season he'll be hitting BOMBS! I think he picked up 30ft peak height in this one session alone.

@@braydenboyko8525 no it's nothing like that. Putting on a seatbelt is an easy process and you see instant improvement.
      Opposed to:
You take an adult amateur golfer who has won big events as a teenager using one method.
Changes their whole environment, plus their body declines in terms of flexibility and strength & they have less time both physically and mentally for a game they now play for enjoyment.....
Then it's not a simple fix. Certainly not during a fun club fitting experience when all you want to see the amateur golfer do is enjoy the process, learn and improve.
Look you take a younger golfer, with more time, then I'm with you but to say it's like applying a seat belt when you get in your car.
Sorry I cannot agree.... but with all that said I'm not on here for back n fourth or arguments about technique or fitting. Bottom line everyone is their own boss of their game and what you do might be totally different to Ian or the next guy / gal.
Isn't that why we all love the game?
You have to find what works for you & no doubt tour pro's do it better than anyone & some of them by only hitting one shape.

Haters gonna hate. It took less than a 60-second Google search to figure out this guy was a player as a junior. Trottie even makes a quick reference to it at 17:19. Grew up in Scotland near St. Andrews. Won the St. Andrews Golf Club championship (against adults, not juniors) on the Old Course as a 17 year old in 1996 (2 rounds stroke play, 16-player knockout match play at Old Course). Has been living in the US in Mammoth CA for over 20 years working as a ski/snowboard instructor. His ball position and launch angle totally make sense for a guy who grew up in Scotland trying to keep the ball low. It's likely that he's just been cruising along and getting by since his junior days on natural talent and muscle memory, and it's not outside the realm of possibility that he's never had a high level fitting like this before.

His ball position and launch angle totally make sense for a guy who grew up in Scotland trying to keep the ball low and has continued to play that way all his life.

I didn't enjoy this video. The fitter was very mean spirited toward the player. The player should have asked for his money back and left the premises.

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you’re joking right?
      1) probably a favour for a mate/family member.
      2) you usually get a fitting or a lesson. It is very rare to get both.
Your dog shit American golf (brand) fitters will throw you in any old shit and delete your bad shots to justify it. Others will butter you up and just be yes men.
This bloke is incredibly lucky to be told point blank, whats realistic for him and how to go about it + he’s being fit at the same time. By a Tour fitter.

Trottie I feel like I just got a free fitting from you. Every issue he has, I have. In a Tensei 1k white right now, but thought about ventus red tr. would standard red be a better option then the tr ? My number are almost identical to him and I’m in a stealth 2 plus
