D'ya think he was a pampered millennial or something ?
If you didn't Fight you didn't make money.
If you didn't strike while the iron was hot, you looked a gift horse in the mouth n missed your opportunity, the next biggest thing, the latest Olympic medalist got the opportunity n you were old news.
      Boxing WAS a mans sport.
Very few outside the HW division made megabucks so everyone else had to compete hard n often for their slice of the pie.
On your Planet of the eternal Princess, Taylor should have taken 5 yrs out, n when he returned n he shoulda done it vs his local paperboy for $80 million.
Yer not living in the real world, Princess.

Meldrick was R U S H E D. He had 23 bouts to Chavez’ 66. That is horrendous match-making. Previously, Main Events Monitor rushed Biggs, Breland and later Taylor, Bajado and Vargas. Mel was a fighter that was very undisciplined between fights. It is easy to blame the ‘physical’ contact of Boxiana on health erosion. That is widely not the case at all. Examine Lou Duva’s words before the fight and his verbiage as Meldrick comes down the aisle and in the ring. Duva is a machine that expected Taylor to fight [ as though Meldrick is a horse (?) ]. Duva speaks absolutely nothing of Meldrick’s health, future and well-being. The same for Goerge Benton, who should have known better than Lou, being a former high ranking professional Pugilist. Lou’s ‘boxing career’ is not comparable.
Upon further retrospect, for the benefit of any Pugilist tomorrow, the art of match-making is critical. Who is the match maker ? Why is the fight sought and or made ?
Are the pugilists near experience level. Human lives are at stake people. On this day and timing; Meldrick did N O T have to spar, let alone fight so soon. He needed more recuperative time away, to receive further cognitive examinations. He was rushed on the path to and then towards a ‘super-fight’ with Chavez then to make a ‘comeback.’ For whom and for what ? For the reasons ‘Meldrick is an Olympic Gold medalist phenom at seventeen years of age ?’
Those were the actual reasons to S L OW his career. To develop him according to his prowess. Not according to a Gold medal.
In another retrospect, what was the rush for ? Greed from unHoly living perople, beginning with Mel, Duva, the commercial boxing machine at HBO, the commission members and then Meldrick’s particular inner circle. Who were they ? Shame on all of them. Today, Duva and Benton have long since passed away. HBO doesn’t host boxing events and no one ‘cares’ about the health and life of [ Meldrick ] Taylor. ©️Coach Hilario 2023
