I like the lower level because it sounds more distinctive as a civil defense siren. The higher level starts to approach the pitch of emergency vehicles.
I like the grumbly sound of the lower chopper levels, kinda more eeriness to them. i've heard that the lower toned sirens carry farther and penetrate better, but it seems in all reality that the higher pitched one blow everything outta the water. Either way Thunderbolt's are quite honestly the best siren ever, next to a carter and a 3T22.
First of all, this isn't a 1003. This siren is a 1000T. Also, the factory recommended setting for all Thunderbolts is chopper terminal 5. Please do some research.
garyhstorms10 Well I own two Thunderbolts myself, so I pesonally know. It isn't really a secret either. In the RCM1 cabinet, you hook your two chopper wires to a terminal strip. One wire goes to the common, the other goes anywhere from 1-7, ranging 120-240 volts AC.
I dunno how-what-why, but Thunderbolts have this characteristic growly/throaty kind of "wrrrRRRROOOOO" sound to them (or at least the1000t's do?); sounds like a living thing, almost. O.O That's exactly what I get in my head when I hear these; just a single wail cycle comes across like some sort of eerie cryptid wail... o______________o Then again, that may just be me and my off-the-wall mind, again. o_____o (I can't onomatopoeia that sound too well; I know what I mean in my head, but putting it in text doesn't do the sound much justice ;n; Also, onomatopoeia is a big fancy word for words that imitate sounds. Boom, crash, pow, skreech, so on.)
HOLY CRAP! A THUNDERBOLT WAS INSTALLED AND NOT REPLACED? THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!😅😄😊
Ikr
Yeah!!
Elizabeth_958 And mine!!! 😀
#savethethunderbolts
Pickles it’s form Norman OK if I’m correct

Level 7 sounds way more "Vintage Thunderbolt" to me. Keep up the good work on those sirens Jeb!
It sounds more like a 1000.
What do you mean a 1000 sounds soo much diffirent
1000s are higher pitched compared to 1000Ts most of the time.
yes but 1000's are single tone and 1000t's are dual tone
I'm well aware of that.
what is the city name
Chopper level 3 like Westmont sarpy county

MegaMobass You have the exact same taste as me, well almost lol for me its:
1st Thunderbolt
2nd Carter
3rd P50 or 3T22 😆
MegaMobass Btw I subscribed ☺
I'm pretty sure that low tones penetrate better but high tones go further.
Level 3 was used in the Nuke town scene of Indiana jones.
Lmao love the "aw" at the end 😆
I believe that was Jeb McCranie and I believe he was saying "Ow."
Chopper 3 is the silent hill siren
Everyone knows 5 is the best chopper setting.
I disagree, 4 is the best!
SUV Man a distant bolt set to 3 freaking makes your skin crawl
I agree. 4 is good
Carlos Aponte yeah, chopper 4 is silver street. That sounds cool. Even with a A2 blower in Attack
Silverstreet is chopper 5 with a 5m blower
"Ow" 😂
That's 4 RPMs on the rotator isn't it?
It's either 4 or 2. It's kinda hard to tell from a distance
4
I think a 4 or 5 projects the most authority/urgency of one of these things.
Zickcermacity yes!
Level 3 sounds better on a 1003 then Level 7 by the way what is the factory recommended setting for a 1003

WhelenBoy ok seems like it is easy to change chopper settings on these sirens wish we could see how it is done up close

Level 3 reminds me of Indiana Jones
The nuketown scene, oh yea I remember.
I remember you saying that Decot sirens are even louder than Thunderbolts
Not true

cheetawolf and the 1003's. They are also duel toned
Because it uses a blower! The blower gives it the raspy roar!
so.. is there a level 1?
Yes. Levels 1-7.
Yes
What's the blower size on this unit
Carlos Aponte Sounds like and A2/5M Blower
Sounds like a 4M to me
Level 3/4 about right. 2:12 7 sounds like a child's party favor!
I'd keep it at 7
Ow!
0:19 jradams
Lol
When it’s on level 7 it sounds like it’s on drugs!
