Lunar Module Pilot: William A. Anders
The Saturn V was a magnificent launch vehicle. I never get tired of watching these launches. Thanks for posting!!
Still love watching those Apollo launches to this day
Me too !!!
The only launch video that truly captured how bright the flame from the I-C booster really was. It basically looked like a flying blowtorch.
I was 13 years old at the time. I remember watching them orbit the moon Christmas Eve evening as my older brother and his buddy put a race track together on our living room floor that they got us for Christmas. I remember thinking I'll never forget this. I never have.
The Mighty Saturn V. What a machine!
I was just a 9 year old kid, and I can still remember Jack King’s voice at launch control. Those were the days when boys were boys, and men were men.
I met Neil Armstrong in 1993. He autographed my logbook. I met Frank Borman in 2000. Both were super nice guys. I got to talk quite a while with Frank and his wife, Betty. They had matching blue flight suits with their names embroidered on their chests in white. They taxied onto our ramp in their gorgeous P-51 Mustang.
Sure his wife was called Susan.
Reynolds,Bergman and King. Doesn’t get better than that!
At Christmas, these three gave us a splendid send off to 1968, a much welcome blessing after that very difficult year.
The most dangerous mission ever. Had the same thing happened on Apollo 8 as on 13 they would not have come home.
I was 8 years old...got up...Christmas vacation..turned on the TV...and saw humans leave the Earth for the first time( meaning who would leave Earth orbit and go out there)...wow...what a memory...and a Christmas Eve...
I watched this from the beach at the cape. What a beautiful, exciting event it was! Thank you for sharing this. Lots of great memories.
I remember those 2 gentlemen doing the 1st 6 space shuttle launches @ launch pad 39 A at Cape Canaveral on ABC TV!!!!
Until Frank Reynolds died in July 1983. Follow by Jules Bergman a few years later!!!!
I wish those 2 gentlemen were still alive today to cover the Space X missions and other space launches from the Cape!!!!!
Try to imagine a present top network anchor as competent at merely speaking as these 60's field reporters.
Frank Reynolds at ABC News Space Headquarters, ABC News Science Editor Jules Bergman at Kennedy Space Center.
A magnificent piece of history for our country! I just wish I was old enough to understand what was going on when it happened. I was like 3 years old at that time. This went to show that the astronauts of Apollo 1 did not die in vain! Kudos to these men and all of the men and women who worked together to make this happen!
As an 8 year old my network of choice for the space program was ABC with Frank Reynolds & Jules Bergman. I put in a lot of hours watching these guys.
Thanks for uploading. Great footage of a truly historic event.
Jules Bergman was the best at reporting on the early space flights.
This technology is 50 yrs old and it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand. This is why all 12 yr old guys wanted to be an astronaut.
What a sweet ride
The Apollo 8 mission was the most intrepid of all spaceflights.
Awesome.....
I think at least 49 minutes were cut from.this clip, as I doubt ABC went on the aur with their launch coverage as late as 7:45 A.M. EST, seven minutes before launch.
My guess was that ABC (and CBS and NBC as well) probably began launch day coverage at 6, 6:30, or 7 A.M. EST.
Hi man I just love it what a great momentous achievement for the NASA space programme ❤I am very interested in space travel and science my guitar tutor is interested in science as well 😊
the pilot of Apollo 8 was from Blue planet - Red star ( Messiah 6 ). Pilot name is Dogoson Manoson an legendary humanoid tiger. At 10 :24 minutes is shown : ' intercept of Apollo 8 and Black Diamond disc spaceship from Black Eye galaxy. Apollo 8 had landed in the Lyra constellation. 9 women - passengers were pregnant inside Apollo 8 ! The pilot of Black Diamond spaceship was Galactic Elder Ursul Kudosh ! Close to the 159 souls flew the space vehicle inside and outside. The luckiest spacecraft ever ! The lunar module was locked permanently to the booster rocket , and separation hadn't happen on time. If Galactic elder Ursul hadn't arrived in a couple minutes calculating from taking off, the Apollo 8 would explode as atomic bomb ! One of the epic scene of all spaceflights was as Ursul tamed rocket on the disc of his spaceship and he manually with tools separated lunar module and booster rocket ! Earth is in debt for 8 million dollars in gold .The NASA has to pay 181 KG OF GOLD to the Black Eye galaxy as soon as possible !'
So where are they going flat earthers ?
quand l ours de l est avait le complexe d infériorité face au Pygargue à tête blanche américain est la technologie spatiale ... hi to all the crew cap Kennedy till astronautes 1968 from algeria
7:40
odd 50 miles high 10 mile downrange
That’s about normal. Falcon ends up about 60 miles up and 15 down range at separation.
Why odd?
60 seconds, mach 1, 120 seconds Mach 7 and still accelerating
Wow...talk about denial. Our lunar descent stages and lunar rover tracks are still there. The Soviets couldn't get their N1 into orbit. In the end, it was American industry, budget, and NASA's management that won the space race.
And the time machine thanks for everything you 🛸🛰️🖥️📡👽
8:35 to 8:52 taking 17 seconds from ignition to ascend 100 meters, half the ascend speed of a weather balloon.!!!
10:00 One minute & 20 seconds into launch & it is only 800 meters above ground, WOW!!! that makes a record speed of 10 meters per second, slower than the ascend speed of weather balloons, while firecrackers are constantly heard. He says:: Speed of 2000 mph, instead of saying 20 mph!!! He says while half mile up it was blown off-course (Down-Range) 4 miles [because these are H2 balloons, NOT rockets, else it would have become invisible in less than 5 seconds, as proved in ("Solving-Apollo-Enigma-1")] [also, it would NOT have been blown off course if it were a rocket]
12:00 he falsey says:: "50 miles high" 3+minutes after launch, separation visible from earth with a telephoto film camera, which is probably impossible even with 2024 equipment, 60 years later!!!
