It was originally featured on her second studio album, Solitude Standing (1987), it was released as a single in Europe only in 1987 following the success of her single "Luka which reached No. 3 in the USA". It was later used as the basis for a remix by the British group DNA featuring Suzanne Vega in 1990 and became a worldwide smash reaching No. 1 in Austria, Germany, Greece and Switzerland, No. 2 in the UK, and No. 5 in the USA. It is one of my personal favorite songs from the 1990's.

The original song is Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega (1987). It has been covered several times I believe. This version is a remake, and David Carreira only sampled the "Ta ta la la..". So this is not a hasard, it is sampling.
