    Marvel should do videos like this for all their prominent characters and classic storylines like the infinity gauntlet or Dark Phoenix Saga. i think it would be a great tool to get new readers by catching them up about major stuff that happened in an entertaining and fast way. maybe even with some behind the scenes stuff.

    The Bronze Age 70s is my absolute favorite era of all Marvel Comics with the 80s being second, the books are so awesome. I love the old school drawn look of those comics better than todays, very colorful and surreal. I still look out for used Spidey, Captain America, and Doctor Strange any of those between '70-'79. My nearest public library has a good selection of them still.
    Best writers were Steve Englehart, Chris Claremont, Roy Thomas, and Gerry Conway. Best artists were Sal Buscema and George Perez.

    • @ScionStorm1
      @ScionStorm1 10 років тому +3

      Elite Comicbook spy
      You know absolutely nothing about Spider-Woman if you actually think she is a version of Spider-Man. And anyway, somebody gave a crap about Howard enough to make an after credits cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy.

    • @ScionStorm1
      @ScionStorm1 10 років тому +2

      James Gunn put Howard in because he likes the character. He's also fond of HitMonkey. And Spider-Woman has zero relation to Spider-Man. Her origin is completely separate and different, her career is completely different, her powers are different, her supporting cast and villains have been different. The ONLY thing she shares in common with Spider-Man is the Spider part of her name and the eyes of her mask. Please desist from spreading your lies.

      Elite Comicbook spy Are you sure you're not thinking of Ultimate Spider-Woman?

    • @ScionStorm1
      @ScionStorm1 10 років тому +1

      Elite Comicbook spy
      You are talking about Ultimate Spider-Man. Which has nothing to do with these comics mentioned since Ultimate didn't start until early 2000s. This is the original Spider-Woman, gained powers from a genetic experiment her parents were working on, born on Wundagore Mountain, has been an Agent of HYDRA, a bounty hunter, a private detective, an agent of SWORD and has the ability to fire bolts of bio-electric energy from her hands and produce pheromones that can incite fear, repulsion, or attraction in people around her. She is also immune to poisons and most radiation. They deliberately avoided crossovers with Spider-Man during her original 50-issue run to ensure she was not associated with him. She WAS a supporting cast member for the first 16 issues of the Wolverine comic, although she did not use her costume.

  • @zabukazar

    No love for Ka-zar? Despite his practically unknown stature now, he was a pretty ubiquitous character in the 1970's as he was headlining three titles at one time as well as countless appearances in other titles. Also popular at the time were Man-thing, Shogun Warriors, Howard The Duck, Villain Team-up, Dracula and a certain Barbarian and Giant Lizard that Marvel doesn't own the rights to anymore. What made comics in the 1970's great was that NOT all heroes were the spandex wearing kind.

    Marvel and DC literally need each other to exist. In the 1950s, the newsstand distribution system was in collapse. DC came up with its own system and, for a while, agreed to provide distribution to Marvel as well as long as Marvel (then Atlas) agreed to limit their publication schedule (Atlas was known for flooding the market with whatever was the hot new fad). In the 1970s, the "returnable" system was becoming unprofitable for both companies and the "direct market / non-returnable" system that counted on and supported the development of comic shops. But comic shops wouldn't been profitable with either publisher alone. In the 1990s, the speculator boom and Marvel bankruptcy lead to the collapse and consolidation of the direct market distribution system to basically Diamond Distribution. None of them (Diamond, Marvel, DC, or comic shops) are able to survive without each other anymore.

      Civil War is basically Cap vs Iron Man. After a suicide bomb that killed many people, the government enforced a new registration act. Cap didn't like it and Iron Man did. So then they all fought. Cap assembled his team and Iron Man assembled his. In the end Tony wins and becomes director of Shield while Cap is arrested.
