Hi. The corner pieces are usually just packing protection for the glass mat. I’d use the silicone mat as a mixing palate to keep the working glass surface clean.
They (SU!) did say that ink will stain the mat, in case you didn’t know that.
I have an old Tim Holtz glass mat. Cleans completely with water or alcohol. The silicone mat may stain. @@emschrader418
