Firstly...... Great video!
I'm thinking of using these timers for a project, but a bit confused about the battery and what it's used for.
Is the timer configuration/display normally powered by the supply and the battery only used to hold the timer configuration when the supply is removed (eg. backup to power failure)?
Or, is the configuration/display always powered by the battery... in which case it will probably need a battery change every year or two?
Both methods you show are great, but as this is a DIN mount unit, when it's wired up inside a cabinet it's not as easy to replace the battery (either method). I also dont want to be thinking of that every year or so!
Do you have any info on this please my friend?

clock and memory are powered by a separate line . as well as by the battery. When power is out, time and programs are still in memory thanks to the battery. But when the battery is dead, as soon as the powers goes out, time and programs are lost.
Same thing for CCTV
I have both problems at home now, that is why I ended watching this video.
A good quality cell should space your service intervals.
