One significant rule missing from the teach is that when you travel, if you deliver a scroll card to the house of wisdom, you also move up one space on the research track of the scroll card's type (rulebook p.12, Travel - step #6). This is fairly impactful.
Its amazing that shem and SJ can design so many games with new mechanic, keeping their games fresh, and still keep the themes of thier previous game. They have to be wizards
I would highly recommend that when you explain delivering a scroll to a House of wisdom, you include the fact that you get bump on the research track shown on the scroll card. This is probably the best rules video for this game otherwise, but this is a significant rules omission. Adding a subtitle at that timestamp should do it.
So far West Kingdom is my favourite saga, North Sea just arrived and we're getting to know it. Wayfarers was a pretty good start for the South saga and I'm eager to have Scholars
That was an excellent description on how to play. I just received my copy. This video was so good, I’m tempted to play without reading the rules book! Thank you!
One small item missing. During the rest action by a player, when they harvest Astronomy (blue), they may optionally re-roll any dice still in their hand. I had some confusion on the meaning of this that was cleared up on BGG, so I noticed it not mentioned in the video!
In the travel action. My understanding is that if you are delivering a scroll and there's a research icon in the bottom corner you also move up the track.? Is this a misinterpretation by me..
Hi Stella, Hi Tarrant. Thank You for a great tutorial on how to play Scholars of the South Tigris. It helped a lot on deciding if the game is for me. (I will back it :-) ). Will You be at Spiel 2023 in Germany this year. I would like to say hello. All the best from Germany.
Hi Michael! Our pleasure, glad it has helped. And maybe you'll refresh again when you receive the game from Kickstarter hehe. I (Stella) am planning to go again hopefully this year (I went last year). Hope to see you there, and if you see me running around, just STOP ME hahah. I've been told that I look busy and people dont stop me lol. Im always running around, but that's coz I'm so excited to be there!
I have a question: when there is the possibility of retiring a translator, do you only choose one on which you have placed your influence marker or can I choose any other translator ready to retire?

I started to think so too! 😃😃 Thanks for popping in🙏
Right? And we still have Inventors and the East trilogy. I love how they take worker placement and twist it into something new.

Great how to play video as always. This game looks unique and not as complex as I thought at the start. Well, at least the rules hehe
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for your kind words. Yes it is, just 4 actions, hehe
Thanks for this, there is so much going on in this game that your video is a great complement to the rulebook.

Is this a misinterpretation by me..

what a great game teach ! extremely well done thank you !
Our pleasure, thank you so much for your kind words
One minor thing ... at the 12:05 point of the video, for some reason the starting scroll cards are on the map.
Thanks for this, going to check the inventors too.
Thank you!
Wonderful tutorial!
Hi Tarrant, great how to play! How does this play 2 player???
It's excellent 2 or 3 imo

Translators retire automatically at the end of a turn when they have the required amount of gold on them.
Between wayfarers and scholars which do u like better?
Eeeeek that's a tough choice! They both have different mechanic, there's some "feeling" that's the same. when to do the income action... :D
Scholars is also the preferred type of player to play it.
Excellent an auto buy for me
Woot! Thank you for the visit
