Where do you put the Digital Crown on smart glasses? On your finger as a ring.
I use the Apple Watch Ultra for sleep tracking, I’ve been used to wearing big watches to bed so I forget it’s there most of the time so I struggle to see a justification for getting a ring? I’ll be curios to see how they entice me like they always do
How does sizing work on these rings? Surely providing a lot of different rings for everyone to use is really expensive
Companies do this a variety of different ways. Most likely, Apple will offer a printable sizer that you can use at home. They will probably also have sizers in store, or allow you to order one to your house before placing an order for the ring.
Exactly why they wouldn't do this (my comment above).
Believe it or not, ring sizes are not infinite. There is a small number of ring sizes.
It's not expensive because the device is small, and Apple will have their supplier on a contract.
I don’t want to buy an Apple Watch because I prefer my classic expensive watch. This is why I have an oura and would get an Apple one in heartbeat.
I have so many traditional timepieces I don't wear anymore! It makes me sad!
This is the comment I was coming to make - the piece of the market Apple hasn't gotten, people who love their traditional (and sometimes quite expensive) watches. Perfect wearable for them to round out the Apple ecosystem.
@@AppleInsiderI have several expensive watches which unfortunately I don’t wear anymore due to this “damn” Apple Watch that I have become hooked on and feels like something is missing if I’m not wearing it…
At some stage I was wearing both, a rare Heuer on my left and the Apple Watch on my right but I was getting strange looks.
I’m wearing my Heuer writing this, the “feel good” factor wearing an expensive watch is hard to match, having said that my S8 is the 45mm Stainless Steel GPS/Cellular so it wasn’t exactly cheap…
I don't even own any expensive time pieces: I went back to my cheap "Casio Royale" because I just hated having yet another device + charger to manage. 😅
(And it really didn't help that like, 70% of the things I tried to go and do through the watch just kicked me back to the phone anyways.)
I don't want an Oura ring becuase I prefer my big diamond expensive rings. This is why I wear an apple watch and would get the watch X in a heartbeat.
Sleep and workout tracking are the main uses of my Nike Series 7 Apple Watch - along with music, so I don’t need to take my iPhone on dog walks. Having the fast charging capability is really useful, as the Watch hardly leaves my wrist. The woven bands are best - definitely wouldn’t want to wear a metal or silicone band overnight.
Thanks for the content.
I sleep with my Ultra2 everyday and I don't even notice it.
Me too.
Yeah I wonder what the heck he’s talking about. Maybe he needs to change his band.
I sleep with my ultra 1 but I’m assuming the apple ring will be more accurate with the calorie burning.
I recently bought an Ultra 2, somewhat shocked at how comfortable it is.
I'd like to be able to control my mac with gestures; just like Vision Pro. Maybe the ring will do that.
It might also be able to be used in a self proctology exam.
If ring hypoallergenic ie sterling silver or similar then I would be interested
I use the stock sleep tracking app on my Apple Watch every night. I don’t have the Apple Watch Ultra though but I plan to get the Ultra this year and plan to use it for sleep tracking as well. Is it really that big that it is cumbersome to sleep with?
Nope. I sleep with mine on most nights without an issue. If you are used to sleeping with a watch on, you will be sweet. I have been sleeping with my watch on since the AWU came out, before then the standard apple watched., no issues at all.
I use the Ultra for sleep tracking with the stock app. It still requires running mostly in low power mode to get 2 full days/nights use out of it.
I don't get it. Why are people trying to track their sleep with the Stocks app??? There is a sleep app on your watch!
@@Andrewkc1969 The stock (i.e. Apple) health app…
I wear my AWU to sleep and use Apple Watch stock app to track sleep. However I have to loosen the band otherwise it’s uncomfortable, so a smart ring would be nice to have!
If you are using Apple Watch stocks to track your sleep, you're doing it completely wrong. There is a sleep app on your watch to track your sleep.
I purchased an Apple Watch SE to use exclusively for sleep tracking it works pretty well.
I use my AW 5 Edition Titanium for sleep tracking (among other things), and I use the AutoSleep app (and have been since before Apple offered sleep tracking natively). It works really well.
I wear my AWU to track my sleep at night but it’s not accurate when it comes to calorie burning so I hope the ring will be more accurate with the calorie burning.
I would prefer the ring over the watch. Just because I’m only interested in the health tracking features. Presumably the ring would be cheaper too.
I don't have a smart ring and I don't use my watch for sleep tracking due to the need for charging overnight and comfort. I would be interested in the ring if it provided useful sleep tracking information. I'm sure Apple will provide other uses for daytime beyond what the Apple Watch can already do.
Yes, I started to begin tracking my sleep with the Apple Watch about 1.5 to 2 years ago. I find it really helpful and interesting to look at the data.
I charge the watch during the day, when I'm working on the computer or at the desk, where I've got a charger. I can also charge it via my MacBook.
I'm using Apple's app to track the sleep.
I have an Ultra and Ultra 2. I wear them 24/7. I also have a safe deposit box with my watch collection that I never wear anymore. I could if I had the ring. I would wear the Ultras most often but it would be nice to wear a nicer watch at times.
Interested to see what Apple can do in this space. Likely a day 1 purchase for me.
Same, I love Apple's formula of not being first, but being best. I want to see how Apple can innovate here and do things better than what's out there now.
Bingo we have the Apple Watch. I just don’t see the need for a ring if you have the watch even with increased battery life, feels like over kill
We need the apple brain chip. 💪🏻
Oh God. Way too much advancements Andrew in tech world 😊
Thanks for sharing as always 🙏
I will still love using apple watch ultra2 as smart tracking.. I goes more than 2 days battery 😊. More than enough for my needs 😊
No problem Ramesh!
I sleep with my Series 9. Occasionally I’ve not charged it during the day and lose a night of data. That sucks.
I have Apple Watch Ultra 2 and keep it charged whilst showering or particularly less active parts of my day. Yes, always use it for sleep monitoring 👌☺️
My watch generally gets fully charged before I fall asleep but I never use it for sleep monitoring. I’d be interested in the ring.
I use my Apple Watch Ultra 2 for sleep tracking. I’ve tried all the 3rd party apps and the one that worked best for me is Auto Sleep.
Yes use my ultra 2 to sleep track, a ring would be much nicer and more comfortable
I definitely have used the Apple Watch for sleep tracking, there were a few apps that I thought were good, like pillow, I especially needed to see how much sleep I was getting because three or four years ago I would only get just a few hours of sleep due to injury. There were quite a few times where it would glitch out and not actually track. Anyway, besides the small monthly fee, it served its purpose.
I use Oura and Apple ultra for sleep tracking. Deep sleep numbers vary the greatest.
I have Oura and I really like it
Ring is an instant buy for me. In the same boat with an Watch Ultra. It’s terrible for sleeping-especially when cuddling with a significant other.
I’ve also always hated losing steps when my watch is charging, the ring will resolve that. Anything ecosystem benefits is a bonus.
I keep getting so close to buying the Oura Ring because it looks so cool..
I still use a series 4 watch and it does more than I need. When it finally dies I won’t replace it.
I use my Series 9 for sleep tracking using the built in app.
I have Apple Ulrra now, but have had an Apple watch for years. I track sleep with the watch and the Health App.
Use my Apple Watch for sleep tracking with the Health App - S9 45mm Stainless Steel. I had a 41mm aluminium one before that and both have been perfectly comfortable to sleep in for me
I sleep with my Apple Watch Series 8 with sport band, and it's more comfy sleeping without the watch on, but I got used to it. I use it for sleep tracking with Apple's native app, but especially for the quiet tap on the wrist alarm that doesn't wake my baby. How accurate is the sleep tracking really though? Sometimes I wonder if it misjudged my awake/asleep time.
I have just about every apple device there is and I haven't seen smart ring features that I care about.
I'd rather a bracelet that has built in gesture sensors and has motion tracking to sync with Vision Pro in tandem with the apple watch. It would also improve workout tracking.
I use the Apple Watch and the Sleepwatch app to track my sleep. I have the Apple Watch 6, and unless I am doing a lot of activities (workout) during the day, I do not need to charge it before bed. When I am on vacation and doing a lot of walking, I charge it for a bit when I wake up, and I charge it a bit before going to bed.
Yes, I use my watch every night. I put it on the opposite wrist from the preferred wrist at night. No problem.
As someone who is trying to wear my Apple Watch less and less. I really love my mechanical watches. I think an Apple Ring would be perfect for me!
I was using Apple watch all the time through out a day for 2 weeks or so. Than left it. Became so uncomfortable. Started to feel it so much that it became irretating
I never use my Apple Watch while sleeping.
I never heard of that
No, I do not use sleep tracking. I don’t even wear my Apple Watch on at night. I put it to charge at night.
Would you track it if you had another way besides your watch?
@@AppleInsideri would
@@AppleInsider me too, same reason, is unconfortable to sleep with a big ass applewatch ultra
No
Me too. I think sleep tracking is a gimmick and something to sucker people into buying things with. Most people aren't going to change their sleeping habits.
I use my Apple Watch Ultra for sleep tracking all the time. I make sure my charger is USB C and charge it at my desk when I'm sitting there. Takes less than an hour for 100% charge.
Would we constantly exposed to Bluetooth?
I use the apple Ultra Watch for my sleep tracking and I just use the Apple Health app. It seems to be pretty accurate!
reminds me of the Alliance ring from Miraculous Ladybug
Just use the standard band (trail loop) with Apple Watch Ultra2 and not the heavy, metal based one, you show in your video. I use my Apple Watch every night with no problems at all.
I would prefer a ring then the watch to track sleep, heart rate , oxygen levels.
I use the WATCH for sleep tracking and use the built in app
I’ve worn an Oura Ring for four years. Overall I’ve been pleased with it. Should be noted that I’m on my third ring in four years as the battery life is less than stellar. I’m not talking about between charges, I’m talking about the battery dying. That being said Oura does not play well in the Apple world. I am eagerly awaiting the Apple Ring, for the simple fact that Apple products just work.
For anyone still confused, just think of Apple Ring as the Apple Watch’s iPod Shuffle. No screen, no/less buttons, main functions still work, longer battery life.
Excellent synopsis!
Oh!! Thanks! I had absolutely no idea that a ring was so much smaller than my watch. I was picturing this big watch on my ring finger, so I'm glad you cleared that up for us.
@@Andrewkc1969 You’ve been replying to quite a few comments on this video all grumpy and miserable.
If you don’t like the idea of the product, cool but don’t be an ass to everyone else
My precious …
You can get used to about anything, including wearing an Ultra while sleeping. Two things I don’t like about Apple watches, though, are the short battery charge life, and how bulky they are. I have an Amazfit watch that holds a charge for a week, and is thinner and less bulky on my wrist. It’s definitely not in the same league as Apple watches, but it’s comfortable on my wrist at night - and gives me the other features I care about. It’s what I use to track my sleep. P
I have two Apple Watches, a GPS/Cellular S4 which is under 80% battery health, I use it only for sleep tracking. My daily is an S8 GPS/Cellular, so I don’t have the issue with not making it through the day. I use Apple’s sleep app.
Apple “iRing”, copyright Arthur Dardalis…😂 patents have been around a long time, I would definitely buy one as I wear rings in general, wondering though what would the material be?? I doubt it would be gold, maybe aluminium or stainless steel so that it would be “match neutral”.
My guess is aluminum. Maybe fancy stainless version to upsell?
So hyped !
Sleep with AWU every day and use the stock app. Don’t notice it being on my wrist while sleeping.
I have an Ultra2 and a Series 9. I wear the S9 for sleep. I use the Pillow app.
I think I’ll be ditching my Apple Watch for a Ring if it ever comes out.
I care about my health data and metrics, and how it all ties into filling my activity rings, but don’t really care about the watch’s other features.
Looking forward to the day I can wear this ring and my old mechanical watch again.
The ring is coming....
And it's coming hard and FAST
Psst....No it's not.
I wear my Ultra 2 to sleep and it does not bother me. And I use the Apple app for tracking, it just makes more sense to me. It’s accurate enough.
I use apple watch for sleep tracking, I only use the native app. I previously used Whoop, but was really unhappy with the data and moved to apple watch. I have a Series 8 that I wear during the day and a SE that I wear to sleep. Switching between watches is seamless. I have no interest in wearing a ring.
Good idea on using two watches!
I have Rolex that I didn’t use for 6 years because of the Apple Watch , with the ring I will go back to my watch collections
What data can we get from a ring that we don’t already have in the watch?
I cover that in the video. It's two-fold. First, sleep data. we do get this from the watch but apple hasn't been able to keep the battery life any longer than daylight hours. It's impossible to wear the regular Apple Watch for sleep without charging it for an hour sometime during the day. A ring is more convenient, more comfortable, and could last a week.
Second, it would collect similar data to the watch to make it more reliable. Things like temperature are already not reliable enough that Apple has to give vague averages on them. And HR is too hard to measure during certain workouts because your watch swings around your wrist. A ring would be able to collect all this data too, compare them together, and make it more accurate.
I guess a final option would be blood pressure that's rumored. That's currently not in any of the watches.
I would rather have a watch without a screen, narrow in design but with all sensors. Data is sufficient to retrieve via iPhone. Probably a button would be enough for such an iBand. It should be designed purely for sport like a ring, only with longer battery life and more sensors.
Honestly it’s the most logical step, the watch is cool but charging it everyday is boring.
I just want a device for health tracking purposes with long battery, I don’t care about a display as I already have a phone to look stuff in its respective app
It's not a logical step, it's a keep up with the Joneses step. If Aura had made an ankle bracelet that does the same thing, and then Samsung followed, Apple would be rumored to be coming out with an ankle bracelet. Or Ankle Bracelet Pro.
@@Andrewkc1969 it’s a logical step, Apple just doesn’t always does the most logical thing.
An ankle, ring, collar, anything display-less and easy to wear with good battery fulfills the purpose
I use my Apple Watch Ultra for my sleep tracking and I feel like I have no problem using it for sleep tracking it doesn’t bother me
Sleep++ which I have enjoyed for years.
That's a great app!
Used watch for sleep tracking for years, with autosleep
Yes I charge watch during day so I can wear it for sleep tracking
Apple Watch will always be less than it could be until they add solar charging and/or dramatically increase battery life. Garmin and Polar have been offering solar for a long time thus better for longer outdoor excursions away from a cord or charger.
I will buy it👌🏻
2 years with my Oura Ring Gen 3.
Love it 😉
I’ll keep my @Whoop band, Thank you
I’ve been using the Oura Ring for 3 years, the watch is just to uncomfortable.
Don’t use my apple watch for sleep. I use my Whoop
I use melatonin, it works great.
Take My Money 💶😱
I take my Ultra off every night just because I want it off. Also, secondary, I don't want to worry about charging it in the daytime, even though it rarely needs charging. So, for this reason only, I'd be interested in an Apple Ring for sleep tracking. I am not going to be interested in an Ultra ring, though. I want it to be minimal.
I would wear an Apple Ring. I don’t wear an Apple Watch because I like to wear luxury watches. For this reason, an Apple Ring is quite appealing to me. Until then, it sounds like gen 4 of the Oura Ring is coming out soon. I may get one to see if I even like using a smart ring.
can it be a nose ring as well?
You know, perhaps, but only for style. Probably can't get accurate health readings that way.

I’ve wondered why Apple doesn’t just buy Oura. Why recreate the supply chain? 🤷♂️
I track sleep with Apple Watch using Sleep Cycle app
Apple Pay and Apple Music functionality and I’m in.
I think it’s a niche market. I am a hugely invested in the Apple universe (MacBook Pro, iPad Air, Watch 9, iPhone 14 Pro, 2x AppleTV) and will be getting a CarPlay compatible head unit in my car soon. I wear my Apple Watch to track my sleep every night, and use my iPhone (and paired Watch) for my morning alarm clock. But I absolutely have NO NEED for an Apple Ring. I don’t wear any ring, and don’t plan to start it now.
It's meant to be a 1st gen future device, give it a few generations to be worth the price to you. For me I'm buying day 1.
In 2024 I’m thinking of buying a second iPad Pro! And the Apple Pencil the new generation and thank you ahead of time for my MacBook Air
The biggest reason for me for having the watch is sleep tracking.. because I can struggle a bit in periods.. i probably will sell the watch when the ring 💍 comes around
And I'll bet you my left nut that all you do is track your sleep because someone told you it was a good idea. I'm guessing you don't use the data you get back to improve your sleep. Because if you were, you wouldn't need to track your sleep once you've gotten to a place where you are getting a good night's sleep.
I do not wear my Apple Watch to bed, but I do know some people who do. I assume they also put it on a charger when they wake up, while they get breakfast and/or shower.
A ring wouldn't have to be charged for at least a week!
@@AppleInsider Is that how the current smart rings are? I've never looked into them.
@@Lord_Mangoat Pretty much!
Use my Apple Watch every night to track my sleep and assist me to wind down before heading off to bed
3:44 I don't get much pleasure from an Apple Watch or other smart watches because I have reduced function in my right arm and hand.
But a smart ring I are wary interesting in 🤗👍💍
I sleep with my Apple Watch every night. Don’t even know it’s there. It’s extremely important for senior citizen, now 82 years old, to be aware of sleep patterns!
Wonder why they are leaning into this instead of the "iPod 6th generation looking clip thing" that is ai and projects?
I use my ultra 2 to sleep in
I wonder if Apple (or anyone else) is thinking about using a SMARTRING for User Authorization & Identification and perhaps Encryption (only). This would make so much more sense to me, than all the already broadly discussed biometric & medical sensory stuff. Imagine the intimate combination of personalized UID & encryption. This use-case would generate totally new approaches towards data access and privacy. Another benefit would be: no more Passwords to remember/store. I reject that the Applewatch (as any kind of smartwatch) is already tracking all kinds of body functions all the time - even monitors my sleep and (for women: the monthly cycle). With all that biomedical metadata Apple is already in a position to tell (with good reliability) if anyone (wearing an Applewatch) is having s.. or not (and with GPS Tracking "on": perhaps with whom...). Apart from that, all these medical benefits are eventually paid for, by infringement of personal freedom or data disclosure. A smartring could expressly rule out this kind of data collection and monitoring - and focus only the security aspect of life.... But this is just a wild dream of mine.....
I use my Ultra for sleep tracking
Charge your apple watch while you shower.
I use AW for sleeping every day :-)
Same! But Ultra isn't as comfy!
Sleep tracking with Ultra = 365 days a year
Same! I just find it a little clunky sometimes, hits my head!
I like that shirt
Cool story
Yes I have slept with my Ultra many times and hadn’t even noticed it at night
